    Now that you're talking about the cogo battlecry, the spanish have literally the same in game. One of the quotes is "¡Guerra!" that translates to "War!". They also say "¡A ellos!", which roughly means "Have at thee!". But the most interesting one by far is "¡Santiago!". Santiago is a very famous city of spain. This battle cry comes from "¡Santiago y cierra, España!", that is something the christians would shout during La Reconquista when facing the moors. It has multiple possible meanings: cierra could mean to get closer to the enemy or to hold ranks and not run away from them, while the españa part is mostly who the battlecry was shout at, the spanish troops. This battlecry has appeared in various comics and stories, like in alatriste, and capitán trueno.

    On the height of horses as found in excavations (height from ground to top of the back):
    - medieval riding horse, often used in war: 130-140 cm
    - medieval charger, super expensive and only used by the rich sort of knight: 140-160 cm
    - Mongolian horse: 120-140 cm
    - modern pony: under 150 cm
    Those Mongolian horses would be about the same size as the vast majority of the European horses found on the medieval battlefield. You get this reputation from early modern era where Europeans did breed their horses to go to more of a 160-180 cm range.
    Source: even Wikipedia has an article on this citing Royal Armouries barding, go look there for a generalized overview

    • @Kidneyjoe42
      @Kidneyjoe42 Před 17 dny +1

      You cite wikipedia, and yet everything there gives a range of ~140-160 cm for European warhorses in general during that period, not just the Destrier. And specifically the royal armouries barding you reference was for horses that were 152-163 cm tall. Wikipedia even gives a height of 132-142 cm for Irish Hobby horses, which were considered small and light even at the time. Mongol horses were smaller on average than even the horses used by European light cavalry and large Mongol horses were the size of small European warhorses. And it's worth noting that Arabians are also 145-155 cm tall. So this wasn't/isn't even just a European thing. Mongol horses are short and stocky compared to most other horses and you'd probably have to go back to antiquity for that to not be the case.

    In regards to the mangudai, Mongols were generally shorter in stature than Europeans, and horses in general in the medieval period were smaller on average than modern horses, so the differences between the two wouldn't be that significant to be noticeable at the scale of the models in the game.

    • @DanielBerke
      @DanielBerke Před 14 dny

      So, it's funny, I'm right-handed when it comes to doing things with one hand, but when holding any sort of tool with a long handle (like a shovel, or an ax) I naturally switch to using a left-handed grip. I've noticed both my father and grandfather do this too, so I suspect it's (at least partly) genetic. I _can_ use a right-handed grip, but it feels less natural.

      Yeah. Even with the shorter range, if their projectiles moved as slowly as cannon galleons' they'd have a hard time hitting anything non-stationary.

    A couple pointers on the pronunciation of Indian units.
    Ratha is pronounced along the lines of "Ruh-thuh" rather than like "Wrath" - Ratha in sanskrit translates literally to "Chariot"
    Shrivamsha is pronounced like "Shree-Vum-Shah", like the "vam" taking a shorter "vum" sound rather than like "wham". Shri is a deity in Indian religions and vamsha translates to "dynasty". So Shrivamsha riders would be "Dynasty of Shri" :)

    Could you elaborate more on why the longboat extra arrows only make one damage on camels despite the bonus damage? I'm confused even after reading the note

    • @Nazuiko
      @Nazuiko Před 16 dny

      The extra arrows are doing 0 damage, or 0.1, and the game reads this as a positive number, and "rounds" it to 1.
      After calculating the bonus damage, however, the 0 damage is now 1 damage, so the game outputs a total of ... 1 Damage
