I just bought a house where the lady left a eXmark Z turn and one would think you were servicing a spaceship. Complicated, hard to reach and from a engineer's perspective it was designed that way so you would take it the dealership. I never seen a machine that did so little but was so complicated.
Supreme Services Lawn Care I am picking up my Liberty Z tomorrow....thanks for all the videos they were/are very helpful in making my decision....can't wait to get it home.
Michael p thats awesome buddy.. happy for you ..its a great mower
I was thinking about getting hustler... I have been binge watching your vids and I think I might pull the trigger on this instead... that room tho! Love the simplicity and the room to work on things!
Thanks buddy. Yes very easy machine to work on
My dads got a scag freedomZ w 24hp Kohler & there’s so much room to work.
If anyone's wondering, you can also use a Motorcraft FL 910s which is a common automotive filter for around $3.99 or so. If you want a good premium filter it's a Wix 51348 XP for $10.99. Hope this helps.
The motorcraft looks bigger in the pics. Is it? And will it effect anything?
NAPA sythetic is Valvoline. We use is a work, its good. I've heard the Kohlers today use Amsoil 10w 50 right out of the factory. I've got my doubts about that.
I love changing the oil on this machine, super easy and can reach everything. By far the easiest mower to change oil on by far.
Grass Monkey Lawn Care yea bro ...i figured it was guna be one of the easiest machines i ever worked on , but wasn't sure about the drain, but the kawi drain tube fit like a glove ...this is some machine... waiting for a cut video on ur 36 .. thinking about getting one myself...i have to reach out to scag and see if they have plans for a 42
Supreme Services Lawn Care I have a video of it,mowing up
Supreme Services Lawn Care got hit that sub button to keep up with my channel lol
Thanks for saying the oil filter was on abnormally tight. I have the same engine and it took quite a bit to remove the oil filter. I actually dented the oil filter with the oil filter wrench I went to purchase as I could not remove it with a normal "strap" oil filter remover tool. Since I could not remove it, I was going to take it into the shop, but then I saw your video and you said yours was on abnormally tight, so I decided to induce a lot of WD40 and use more power (keen power) and finally got it removed. Thanks for the video.
Every nower I have ever bought they have been over torqued ...just hand tight and one tirn with wrench is all you need 🤟👍
Keenan Stewart I used a rubber strap wrench to get my first one off, super easy using that.
Was worries about taking mine off the first time, but it came off easy on my 2020 craftsman. Maybe someone at kohler is watching these videos
Kohler engine manual says to replace break-in oil at 5 hrs. I will say what came out had the fluidity of water. Very thin. Slightly green. 2nd oil change at 100 hrs., which seems like a bit long to me.
My Kohler 7000 Series 25hp, states oil change at 100hrs depending on the working environment. Extreme use requires 75hrs to 50hrs. In my book. I always do 50hrs myself. And fependibg on oil specs too
If you don't wanna pay high price for a Kohler filter you can use a STP S3614 or a SuperTech ST3614.
Or from those numbers you could cross reference to almost any other brand.
All of the rebranded filters are so expensive.
Nice video 👌
Aren't you supposed to put oil in the filter to prevent a dry start?
Full synthetic....good man!
Straight From the Field yea bro ..goin to mobil one synthetic after this $39.99 get a $10 coupon $29.99 comes out to $5.00 a qt ..$1.00 more than this stuff which i really like ...but the price went up big time ..
6-5-19: The smaller one is a Full Flow filter, the bigger one is a Pro Performance.
I bought the 12-050-01 yesterday only to find out it wasn't the Pro (even though it has the same Kohler part number, weird!). I exchanged it today for the Pro, which is yellow, and a 12-050-02.
My new yellow Pro Performance one is the same size as the original black Pro filter that was originally installed from factory. I'm doing my first oil change tomorrow, engine has 25 hours on the clock.
My Kohler is in a Husqvarna Z-254. I use the Kendall L-427 Super Blue grease beings that's what we use in our semi's. It sticks pretty good and have been pretty happy with it.
I wanted to use the Kohler SAE5 oil like the manual states for temps 50-100 degrees, but no one in town sells it. They only carry the 10-30. I'll give it a go while watching for any oil consumption.
According to research, the SAE5 and 10/30 are supposed to be the same viscosity at operating temperature..
Oil here in my town is $5.49, Kohler oil filter was $10 (for the Pro or Full Flow).
What size is that hose that you're using to drain the oil with?
Nice video! Btw you should clean off your hydro cooling fans it looks like you have a grass build up
Nick Netotian yea i was getting to that.. also sharpened blades ...one thing to take note of ... cleaning those fans is a real pain in neck ..thats the one thing they got to fix ...even with redmax 8500 its a chore ...they have metal vents that block the air from being able to clean the area ...i tried to make this look as easy as possible...cause its so easy ...some people get spooked of doing it themself
Supreme Services Lawn Care yeah it kinda looks like it! It's like they made it to where you can't get to the grass
What did u use to get the filter off what is that tool? V ride 2 gives u so little room.
Oil filter pliers
Hey man how you doing hope you are doing well just a quick question when are you doing the hydro oil change on your scag liberty I need to do mind and I had no idea how to can you please help thanks
King's Lawncare Hey buddy ...dont have to hydro change till 250 hours...thats what they recommend..i have alot of buddys that do every 500 hours and some that havent done it all ..and they have 1000 hours , but the 1000 hour guys have the 3400 and higher ...but for the 2800 ..id do it 250-300 ...then do every 500 ...👍
Thanks I have 200 hrs right now I don't think I'll get to 250 this year
mine has 35ish hours time to do mine. i couldnt find the long filter online either but short one should be fine
Tony's Lawn care bro click the link below i git 3 ling filters for $20
Sorry if this question has been asked but the spindle bearings . Do you have to grease them or are they sealed ?
ron cash no prob...only thing greaseae on this mower is the deck lift , exactly what i show in the video
hey ron ..it has 6 grease fittings ..we will go over them in a future video
so you had a hustler, bobcat and now a scag... what's the best bang for the buck...what's got the best cut
ETF Transam bob cat is sending me the new bobcat 21 mower and xrz pro 48 inch ...i think that will be the best
Your grease gun link to amazon isn't correct. It's linking to he oil filter instead of the grease gun.
Carmen Head thanks buddy ...i fix it ..thanks for heads up
itsup ..thanks bud
Supreme Services Lawn Care thanks!
Where you get the drain hose from
My mower came with the hose on the owners manual packet.
Is there any truth to the dealers and mechanics are saying they are now going to a 10 W 40 oil?
Shane Bretey oil grade is purely based on where you live ...if your in hot places like florida you use a thicker oil , colder area thinner oil ...
Thanks man.
Anytime buddy ...
Would highly recommend using what the manufacturer of the engine says to use. Thicker oil is not always better.
Hand-tight is enough. I tighten with my left hand, so I know that I can loosen it later with my right hand. Of course that's just a suggestion.
I used to pay the dealer for an oil change like a chump lol then I saw how easy it was and felt ashamed lolol
Yeah it's a piece of cake bro once you do it once it's like riding a bike
Your dealer is the one who should feel ashamed. Most of them attend the annual seminar for price gouging techniques.
Napa oil is valvoline just in a different bottle
john orrick thats what it says on the bottle !! . Its not bad if its on sale ...but i wont be using anymore
Supreme Services Lawn Care might catch valvoline on sale at Wal-Mart cheaper than going to Napa or buying mobile👍
john orrick yea bro got mobil one on sale on Amazon ..$22.00 for 5 qts ...
Are you tool boss?
Yes 👍👍
Ok kool. I’m a fan of your other channel.
Thanks brother much appreciated 🙏
