Rick, to quickly open an app that's been barred by GateKeeper without going to System Prefs, simply CTRL-click the app and you get he same pane which includes the Open button.
Thanks for this how-to; I can finally test my speeds within my network and not the internet.
    Cheers.

I wasn't able to get CTRL-click to work but it worked with option-click. Was that what you meant? Thanks for the tip! I can't believe I didn't know that one.

@@Rickmakes It's definitely CTRL-click as mentioned, amongst many, here (I'm on Big Sur btw) sixcolors.com/post/2016/02/override-gatekeeper-with-one-click/
In any case, neat trick saving us time wen devs are too lazy to update their apps to conform to GateKeeper :)

@@CescoCDN I see what you mean. I was CTRL clicking but thought it didn't work because the contextual menu would come up. I didn't realize opening from the contextual menu was different from double clicking. I tried option-click again. It didn't work. I'm guessing I held down option while using the contextual menu when I tried it the first time. Thanks for passing that along. It was a pain to go into system preferences.

Or just right click and press Open, works as well.
