  • How to prepare lab solutions?
    Calculations and Explanation
    1) Molarity (M) - No. of moles of solute present per litre of solution. (Molecular wt. per 1000 ml)
    2) Normality (N) - gram equivalent solute present per litre of solution (Equivalent wt. per 1000 ml)
    3) % solutions (Parts per hundred) - gram (ml) of solute per 100 gm(ml)
    types- % w/v, % w/w, % v/v
    4) ppm solutions - the no. of parts of solute per million parts of the solution. mg/litre or gm/1000 litres or µg/mL
    5) Solution from Solution - higher concentration solution to lower concentration solution.
    Formula - N1V1 = N2V2 or M1V2 = M2V2 or C1V1 = C2V2
