This is a very informative video. I was really surprised at the lack of info on the TRS website when I did my first retrofit. They definitely need to create more of these types of videos. I have the motoho1ders on my mini h1's and I sealed the back with Gardner Bender duct seal. It's safe up to 350 degrees and it's non hardening, so you can just peel it off when you need to access the bulb. I've been using it and have had no problems, even in the Florida heat and humidity.
Great video showing the different bulb's holding designs. Great tip on reminding the problem on the H1s bulbs alignment. What I have done, once I know/confirm where I need to shim (top or bottom), I put a drop of JBW on that spot. I try to make at least a 1/8" drop. Once the JBW is cured, I start adjusting the bulb alignment by sanding the JBW to the proper thickness, yes, it is a try and adjust cycle until the drop of JBW is at the sweet spot. I have not had issues with regular JBW to start thinking on using high/extreme heat JBW.
The second issue is the lumens output of the H1 is always a fraction of the comparable bulb in D2S. H1 HID was always the best option compared to any halogen headlight. However, with the recent LED technology improvements, perhaps a very good LED bulb using standard reflector can provide more lumens output than the H1 HID. For example: a morimoto H1 5500K bulb produces 764 lux in an H1 projector. The same bulb produces 1428 Lux in a morimoto D2S projector [Per TRS testing values]. The question is: what output a good LED 5500K produces in a standard reflector headlight? My guess is, it could be in between the two (764 and 1428 lux). I really don't know. But in my case where my headlight space is most suitable for the H1 size, I am tempted into going back to stock reflector using a very good LED system.
What is your experience about it?
Thanks for this video. I did my retrofit in January and just now realized why I wasn’t getting great light output.
Thanks for this incredible video
You're the best
My first retrofit and my issue was with H1 bulb. Seating is a PITA! I thought I was messing up. Sure enough, the H1 bulb doesn't seat well with its base. Thanks for making this video. Its helped me verify that the build wasn't on me.
Great to know!!!! Thanks for the info!
Simple but useful 👍
Thanks you for this video!!!! Just realized why my bulbs and ignitors don't fit right even with the mini moto holders. I have a D2S system not an H1. Wish TRS would have showed me this video on their site. I was boarder line ready to drive my truck into the lake.
thanks 4 vdo
Spring is a pain in the ass. I am moving from G5R to Morimoto 5.0 for this reason. The spring already made the thread on one of the projectors blant.
Thanks you

Thanks for the video. I still hate the bulb installs in the D2S 4.0 projectors, especially while they are in the vehicle. The spring almost always comes out the back and gives me inconsistent light output.
Its a double edged sword. People like threaded shaft so this is what they need to do with the design. I prefer bulb mounts like the TL-R and EVOX 2.0
Lightwerkz Global Inc. I see what you mean. I did the retrofit on my 2014 GMC Sierra, bought the stuff from Lightwerkz and you guys were awesome! Thanks for continued support.
Hello, For the Morimoto d2s 4.0 projector, is there any bulb holder/lock that i can use aside from the spring and lock you showed in 6:09 mins of this viideo?
Yes you can use these - lightwerkz.net/products/morimoto-motohold2rs?_pos=1&_sid=b8a465e8c&_ss=r
Hey Lightworks I've got a car that takes H11 bulbs, I want to install bixenon projectors. I know that most aftermarket projectors only use H1, H7, H4, D1s, D2s bulbs. How do I make my H11 work with those bulbs?
You don't. You would purchase new bulbs. Thats the only proper way.
Okay say I buy an H1 projector do I need to get an H1 hid kit with an adapter to fit an h11?
?? following
Those springs are literal pain in the ass specially if the headlights are installed on the car. You're lucky if you got it in your first 3 tries.
Is this literally the only viedo that vomes close to showing this problems!? No one mentions all this probs about bulb seating correctly!
WHY COULDN'T THEY FIT LIKE AN H11 BULB THAT YOU JUST PUT IN AND TWIST. 😭
mini d2s 4.0 are a P.I.T.A when replacing bulb SMH
