The C melody sax has such an unfamiliar tone quality to it. It's not alto, it's not tenor, it's so strange. I honestly really like this arrangement but I just don't like the C melody sax, lol. But as I said, it's still a banger sax battle

Love it! I recently got a 1925 Buescher C melody. I am also working on a Christmas duet at the moment. I was going to play it on alto, but now I am going to see how it sounds on my Cmel!😃

Note the "Micro-tuner" (rotating tuner) on the neck. This was a Conn patented screw neck extender device for tuning without moving the mouthpiece on the cork. They quit manufacturing these in the early 1950's I think. They were available on Conn Alto and C Melody horns for a while.

I've heard lotsa stuff about C melody being hard to play in tune, and whether you should use a tenor mpc and such. Perhaps a brief "class" on it would be helpful. Thanks. (I take it that that's Kenny G on the sweater!)

It’s absolutely brutal to play anywhere near in tune, hahah. An alto mouthpiece fits perfectly on the neck so that’s what I use

It’s really weird - it’s a while step higher than tenor, and sounds like both alto and tenor at times depending on the range. It plays reallllly out of tune as well 😂

Looks like a 10MFAN Ultem MP was used here. Was it an Alto or Tenor MP? Also, was a unique C Melody sax MP ever made? I don't recall ever hearing about that.

It was an alto mouthpiece - fit perfectly! Yes c melody mouthpieces were made, but the one i have is terrrrrible
