doug aldrich underrated player very good dude..
Kristian Kushmick I agree, he can flat milk a Les Paul for everything it’s worth.
Can I just say that in 11 years of playing covers the best sound I EVER had was playing a Strat loaded with the Fender Pure Vintage '65s PUPs through a modern AC30C2 loaded with Greenbacks with a simple pedalboard of just 3 drives, delay and some modulation stuff. Tone cut so it never gets harsh. It never gets muddy. It's just a very clear sounding Chinese or Vietnamese made (I don't know for sure) modern AC30C2 on the top boost channel with the preamp AND master almost cooking. 11 years. Hundreds of gigs. Dozens of backline amps. No joke. Cheers guys
Enjoyed the show! I'm familiar with Nielsen, and was aware of Jeff Loomis. Was great to get more insight into Jeff's background!
Very cool channel and interviews! Just subscribed, I hope there will be many more!
I thoroughly and completely ENJOYED this. I was hanging on every word...learning about recording options and techniques. I will be watching this a few more times.
awesome Jeff Loomis is my favorite guitarist !!
Thanks for a super entertaining show Jon! Great guests! Fantastic conversation.
Jeff Loomis is a Guitar God in his own right. You are awesome Jeff.
Hi Jeff!
fyi: Cakewalk is no longer called 'Sonar', it is 'Cakewalk' again, like in the old days, after being acquired by 'Band Lab'. It is available free as a download. www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk
Band Jeff was trying to think of with badass bass is Royal Blood I think.
The Mongoloid indeed it’s royal blood.
JHS - Haunting mids parametric mids EQ. Empress Effects has a cool parametric eq. These are both pedals. Parametric eq is the bomb but has to be super high quality so it doesn't suck away at the tone
Cool interview Jon. The ada mp1 has an awesome clean tone, i liked the ss one.

Marty Friedman & Dave Mustaine used Bogner Triple Giant preamps on the Clash of The Titans/Oxidation of The Nations (1990 - 1991) tour.

In one of their "vault" videos, you can see 'em when they're backstage (I think it is the one from either Riverside or Ventura) , They ran them through VHT2150 poweramps. For Countdown To Extinction & Youthanasia (the tour(s) at least) they used CAE 3+ Preamps made by Bob Bradshaw , running through the aforementioned poweramp.
I do agree with Jon that Marty's tone isn't really all that great, and I think that's because he doesn't like to tinker with amps/pedals (he's said so several times) , so he just lets the tech dial in the tone until he likes it. His live tone during the RiP tour was great, Countdown was good too, but after that, it started to become thinner and more fizzy sounding.
You can see the Bogner Triple Giant at 5:59 into this video: czcams.com/video/Hvf0OfIHTT8/video.html&feature=emb_title
