I think Sky has always been a bit dark. For example the crying spirit in forest. They literally are trapped in a cave and had all their friends pass away. Also I thought little prince actually died? In the book he kinda did because a venomous snake bit him.

We have hide and seek pioneer trap in the cave, blushing prospector died while waiting for their lover return, and the miner (said lover) who also died in mining accident and didn’t chance reunited with blushing prospector. Also Assembly spirits are children and died and never see the completed treehouse and Skykid take the quest to do it. Wasteland too, Enchantment spirits died while being stranded, Abyss spirits died when an experiment from the scientist gone wrong. Meanwhile, three civilians and three soldiers also died from darkness attack

my immediate thought is that this season is related to the war happening in The Seed quest, they made it a point to include lots of spears in the memories like the spears being thrown at the seed of hope
To be honest I'm really loving the stories. I don't think the darkness is excessive - I feel like Sky is a vast world and those things have place to happen in it.
Agreed, there’s a theme to Sky and it’s “In darkness there is light and vice versa”. I feel like the dark theming is there because it’s part of the world, it has to be a part of the world, because it can’t be a paradise all the time. Not to mention the seasons having a contrast based on where they take place. Shattering being dark because it’s based on the remnants of Eye of Eden, Abyss being light in the beginning but darker as it goes along (like diving in the sea), Dreams/Performance being light overall because of the Valley (I don’t think we’ve had a dark storyline in Valley; the closest being the “Warrior of Love” quest and even so that isn’t that dark for Valley). Overall, there’s a balance with the themes this game achieves without desensitizing the player to said themes of loss and death.

My guess is that this season is going to involve us giving the spirits that suffered a loss of some kind a form of closure. Perhaps each event will help us dwell deeper into the story of each tragedy and what happened in a more in-depth manner. Maybe by completing each event quest would show us a more vivid interpretation of the situation via a cutscene? Another idea could be that we preserve the spirits’ memories as a tragedy, but by completing the quests, we get more insight of the aftermath. It might not be a truly happy situation, but maybe something comes up that helps the spirits accept the reality of their loss and finally move on.
If you think about it, it makes sense that this season in vault is so dark, remember the vault also has a graveyard in one of its doors (the 4 player door)
Theory time >:) When Eden discovered that light can be used for many other process, he started to cultivate this light from mainy mantas ,jellies and so on. We can even see a light cultivater or extracter at the forest mama temple . However while some people went with this idea of Eden , others realised the upcoming dangers of this extraction. Thus started a war between the people of Eden and the people of light where even the elders were with Eden *against thier will* (we can make sure of this because at the levitation spirit room in the vault we see a huge table with many chairs even one chair being toppled over. We can asume that the elders were trying to make the king understand the concequences of the light extraction which made him angry and storm out of the room leaving the chair toppled over). In this season we get to see all the sufferings of the common people (presumably the people of light and the people who didnt choose a side) wherethey are either killed or taken captive by soldiers appointed by the king himself
though all of their stories make me feel depressed, i actually like the realism of the story and how much depth it gives to sky. not everything is all sunshines and rainbows when you're building an immersive game; you have to bring storms and tsunamis to actually make it feel real.
I absolutely LOVE how Sky has been including some darker themes recently, it really balances out and highlights the rest of the game and just really adds to it.
Sky had been preparing us for a long time, in story wise I'm exited for this season, it will give us more intell in WHY the realms had fallen and why WE are the only living ones. I quickly noticed the spears in SEED and I got more invested, I'll most likely release all spirits in order again since it's been so long and start redoing lore ideas
Seeing the Aurora season stories and these kinda looks like TGC is expanding the lore to prepare us for their cinematic project, since we've only seen the one they've shown at the Nintendo Switch launch. Think about it, all we've seen until now has been wholesome and cute but recently TGC is making stories a little bit different and now more tragic; if you recall, in the cinematic trailer they showed us how there used to be a civilization in Isle of Dawn and now the place has been sweeped without any info given, maybe bc of the war we're currently witnessing but we haven't received context yet. Hopefully all this influences the lore, cause I'm down BAD to watch any cinematic stuff from Sky
On the map wasteland is directly outside the vault and wasteland had a war that took place so it honestly in my opinion is about time they did a few stuff more for lore on it :D this current season kinda did already but I'm glad they are going a little more into it. Even if it is a sadder story, everyone grows from hardships and overcoming them so I'm glad not every single season in sky is completely happy and lighthearted. :D
This is... just amazing. The darkness, the realism in the stories... ! I am crying :') It's quite painful, but also I think this might add some lore to sky(?) We have never had a season so dark before!
I like how they highlight the props in the memories like the wind chime or tea pot which the spirit will bring. I still look very much forward to all of it.
I like that this next season is taking place directly in Vault and not just connected to the realm like Starlight Desert is. The library place lowkey gives me The Chronicler’s quarters vibes from The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night.
I’m glad that we’re finally starting to see what the actual life of the people was like rather than just a bunch of Skypeople holidays and fluff. We’re seeing what happens to regular people, and the fact that it’s not all rainbows and celebrations adds so much depth to the Sky kingdoms. I was going to stop playing after the season of aurora, but now I can’t bc this dark lore exists. “Season of depression.”
I am okay with the sad stories, we really need to accept the sadness as a feeling, because the real world is full of war, loss and cruelty and we need to continue living through it.
THIS SEASON IS GONNA BE SO SADDDD. BUT WHY DO I LOVE IT THOUGHHHH. 11:13 is probably my favorite clip, since Nasty sounded so done with the sadness XD Also, I'm really excited for this season, because it may have a similar vibe of emptiness and (more overlying than) underlying sadness, but the cosmetics are interesting and colorful - instead of just all black and repetitive - and the characters have so much... CHARACTER. As sad as the storyline is, I genuinely love what TGC is doing here, and I'm really looking forward to the new season. There's finally gonna be some good fulfillment to those lore plot holes surrounding golden wasteland, and I especially love how it's tying in with other seasons as well, like shattering and aurora's last quest. In terms of my theories, I think that first of all, we all have an idea that the Seed of Hope quest was tied directly to the war. It just makes sense. However, the war in Aurora could possibly be a separate one entirely from the one in Remembrance. The differences being between spirits and darkness in the aurora war, and being between spirits and themselves in Remembrance. The "war(s)" - whether between spirits and themselves or spirits and the darkness - is a very cool subject to touch on, and it brings that sense of genuineness to sky that is also applicable in real life. The game has been very magical and wistful so far, as if it were existing for the purpose of being like an escape from reality. Not that it won't continue to be... but the game can be a sweet release as well as a serious and enthralling, as well as relatable one. But the subject of the war being the main focus for an ENTIRE SEASON is SO COOL to me. It almost felt like TGC was sort of avoiding it in past seasons, but now it's quite literally the star of the show.
It seems the spirits were fighting among themselves even during the Seed quest - there were spears thrown at him as he was carrying an injured soldier back - the Krill don't throw spears, those weapons must have belonged to Spirits.
@@Sigma_Vehnke You are very right. Perhaps the spirits were fighting each other and the krill crashed the party, which could be why the Aurora quest had spears at the beginning of it, and then the krill chased them after (if I remember correctly 🤔)
When I said I wanted the seasons to tell a story I didn't mean like this 😭 Though the lore implications from this are interesting since I always presumed that the battle in wasteland was the spirits against the darkness...maybe the spirits weren't all one united army after all.
If everyone has been paying attention since playing Sky you know that something catastrophic happened and what’s left are these spirits memories, so the core of the game is dark. Season of Aurora as beautiful as it is is also telling a dark story, The Aurora concert gave us even more insight into what happened. The creatures of Light in the different realms were used and exploited as resources for power and the realms were mined of all their power, and there was an internal struggle for who should be in control of that power, it caused that light to be used and subverted into a darkness that resulted in a cataclysmic War that destroyed everyone except for some of the creatures of Light that remained, and because there were some that used the Light to protect the realms (Vault of Knowledge Spirits) they remained intact as well. And as anyone can easily see the epicenter for this War came from Eden. All very Dark when you see the story for what it is trying to convey a warning of the very road our own world is heading down.

And Sky starts out dark and sad by it's self, we skykids are born to heal the world and gather the "lost spirits" of those who DIED in some mysterious event that apparently ended all spirits lives before us. Then we go to eden and get brutally stoned to death by sharp crystals and rocks... Sky has always been a sad place at it's core, pretty and now peaceful but sad. They're called spirits and ancestors because they're dead! Some we see died in some horrible ways like the "forest crying spirit" Two of her friends were crush in front of her by huge boulders, then the next spirit died of a darn plant infection they GREW OUT OF HIM! She buried them and died alone still trapped in the cave. Theoretically by starvation or cold. Dark and sad things in sky are nothing "new" or "unlike sky" but yeah this is very dark! All and all I like this season because it gives us some good lore.
I was just thinking, since the vault of knowledge as it’s name suggests, contains knowledge, and this is the season of remembrance, these are all the memories of the ancient beings in a specific event (war?) which is being stored in vault and we’re learning about the history and revisiting all the memories of the different casualties of war 😢 i’m dreading to see the quests at this rate 😅 it’s gonna be a season of heartbreak instead
I feel like this season links with Aurora. Aurora seemed like it was showing the economy of the Sky people, calm before the storm I always felt like they were preparing for something in Aurora especially with the spirits in dawn and the underground caverns.
The new area looks like an OOBers paradise, so many nooks to explore, and crazy geometry to jump about on. Insanely sad memories though, I guess it is Vault.
I thoughts the sad shaking head emote would have like blue particles at the eyes. Like welling up with tears. Also i LOVE what this season means for the lore!!

those warriors the spirit is sneaking past, they have a diamond symbol. And in aurora seed of hope quest, spears are thrown in wasteland while they were running away. So its clear the King doesnt just control dark creatures, but had spirits still working under them too. Also in battlefield, the shields had either or two symbols: the diamond (which is everywhere in sky, also the kings mask in concept art looks like a diamond) and a sun symbol. So I think when the king got corrupted by darkness, other spirits were too, but some other spirits went against the king because the king was corrupting the light of sky kingdom. Edit: Woah that spear is gigantic- Maybe the king has some sort of machine that throws those?
Season of sorrow? I think Nasty said that, but it really fits. So sad. My nephew is definitely not playing this season. His little 5 year old mind is not ready for this. He was watching this and we both agreed. He’s really more interested in the happier seasons. He loved loved loved season one flight.
I always thought the war in GW was the spirits vs the krill? But the context of this plus the Seed quest makes it seem like there were somehow warring factions within the spirits.
Yay! I'm so excited for this season. Sky keeps outdoing themselves!! I am also very happy to see a new area. When you first got in, I thought it was just going to be that room, and I was slightly underwhelmed, but I'm thrilled to see there's more!!
WAIT! Is the wounded warrior the son of the bereft veteran? He just looks like the veterans son.. maybe the story revolves around the lady finding the son, nursing him back to health as the veteran finds a (potentially) orphaned boy. after losing his son and adopting him. Then later on everyone reunites!… I hope at least 😭
It seems quite relevant in the context of the war in Ukraine; we are seeing so many scenes of devastation and grief; daily images of the stoic, traumatized strength of the Ukrainians. These are serious times. Feels appropriate to have space in Sky for tragedy and sorrow. The spirits are iconic and represent universally recognizable experiences of the oppressed and suffering. It feels weird to say I’m looking forward to it, but the new season will be compelling, I’m sure, and the cosmetics and emotes are appealing and will be nice additions to the game. ❤
just imagine - people who are already traumatized by these events, people who have been experiencing horror for the last year - logging in to sky to sit back and relax and maybe forget about the harsh reality for a couple of minutes... and then they see this. their tragedy is like, a funny little game now, an amusement for others! it's actually offensive, tgc is a fucking joke.

There are so many other kinds of games that someone looking for a superficial escape from reality would choose. I’m not a big defender of TGC, but I do admire the beauty and depth of emotion that they have built into Sky and Journey, and that’s what I think new players are drawn to. Most stay because we find it fulfilling in some way. And I think TGC has shown a lot more accountability for their games’ message than most. The game is free; it’s available on mobile; completely free gameplay in Sky is not only possible, but enjoyable; and TGC has made a game built for friendship and kindness. At the end of the day, TGC doesn’t seem so terrible to me. And Sky is far less trauma-inducing than many other multi-player RPGs I can think of.

Ok I am tired of making theories I need the lore. THE LORE! ITS ALL ABOUT THE LORRRRRREEEEE!! Serious note tho: I do get the feeling that there was some sort of divide between the realms over using the light or not. Or maybe the split between the elders (I forget where I read about that) lead to civil war. And the isle elder sent us to clean up the mess that he blames himself for but it was really the one he raised. Sorta like Obi-Wan blaming himself for the rise of the Empire so he sends Luke to clean it up (wait that’s not far from what happened >_> )

Oh ok I just realized what this season is gonna show. The soldiers are never good. Every soldier makes terrible things. We all have to remember the people who were hurt. I thought about it since the cosmetics video. War is terrible, and there is nothing to justify it. It’s way to painful for me. I’m literally about to cry, from remembering how I felt when the war began…
I like to dress as a soldier in sky and have suspected for a long time that the realms were not at peace with one another and were probably warring over energy sources, and also that the elders were not as wholesome as initially thought. Find me a crab or a dragon that uses a spear or a sword, Nasty.
From what I gathered from the lore there was a war between the old King who was excessively mining for resources and causing darkness to grow in the kingdom, and Golden Wasteland rebels, who were the most affected by the King's actions. Essentially a story about over consumption/climate change and how it's killing our planet and causing people to fight. We saw that war in the season of AURORA, one that had already been theorized to have happened thanks to environmental storytelling, so I assume this season is a continuation of that, this time showing more personal stories about how it affected the people of the kingdom.
the juxtaposition of this beta season with the official trailer featuring What a Wonderful World sung in minor key... I should have taken that as foreshadowing
It's a proff that there were war in golden wasteland and the spirit came to the depressed father was the act dying spirit I think 🤔 It's all hidden proves, maybe tgc is letting us to know the sky lore, but who knows?
I believe this season might give an insight to the war that happened in Sky as well (cf area name Battlefield in gw), but from the civilians' perspective. The old father veteran whose son died at the war, the daughter in the occupied zone trying to take care of her sick father, the newspaper boy who got his mother taken away by soldiers (perhaps she was part of rebels in the occupied zone?), and finally a soldier who won the war coming back to home just to be ambushed.

Honestly, this doesn't surprise me at all. Well, it does but I've come to expect a lot of sadness. I've noticed a few things with the cry emot spirit that flew over my head when I first started playing.
I think this plays into aurora! *concert lore cant discuss* But in the quests we are in a war type of situation! So maybe its from that time!! Im happy they are trying some darker things! Hopfully we get a happier season after remembrance😢😭
I've wondered how Sky might evolve its content as its initial fanbase ages. I started playing during Season of Sanctuary, and played relatively consistently until Season of Flight, which wasn't my cup of tea lol. When I saw there was gonna be a season with Aurora tho, I had to start playing again! I've been very happy with what I see as a jump up in the emotional maturity of the Aurora spirits compared with those that came before. This looks even more nuanced, hopefully. To me, Sky is like a fairytale dream I can escape to. What I love about fairytales tho is how through them, we can explore heavy subject matter through a more removed and innocent lense. I am hoping that this season, and more to come, will bring new emotional nuance to Sky. Sky shouldn't lose its innocence, wonder, and fun, but it could also be a beautiful and moving way to collectively work on our emotional health/EI. Especially with the current state of the world (and this also strongly reminds me of the invasion in Ukraine!), I am excited to see Sky explore new ground in moving and beautiful ways 😊
TGC after the season of "Aurora": well, happiness is over, children, people are dying in the war, and here is sadness, pain and no dreams :) But if you think about it, maybe they wanted to show that not everything was fine there when the spirits were alive. These wars can also be the reason why spirits eventually fall, leaving behind some emotions and dead lands, some of which come to life, and some are simply completely destroyed by such "humanity". Completely destroyed like the Golden Wastelands and maybe even the Island of Dawn. It's just a theory, but looking at what's happening in the world right now, I think that... um... Perhaps we need even more similar seasons, because many people have not realized how terrible death is, especially from another person..
What were you thinking "this is dark"? Because there's a spirit who lost three of their friends in a cave and I'm pretty sure there are more cases like this. This is not the first time we see a spirit -some sort of- die.

These stories of spirits during war make me wonder if this is part of whatever happened to make the Battlefield such a desolate place. I like the area though. Like an old dusty library that's fallen into disrepair.
I was just reading about Sky in the Playstation Store (relaxing, peaceful, experience the best of humanity, positive, bring light and warmth to everything you touch, etc.). If you think about it, it makes sense that this season in vault is so dark, remember the vault also has a graveyard in one of its doors (the 4 player door)
I'm glad we're reliving spirits again, it's kind of boring when they're just there like in Shattering and Aurora.

When Eden discovered that light can be used for many other process, he started to cultivate this light from mainy mantas ,jellies and so on. We can even see a light cultivater or extracter at the forest mama temple . However while some people went with this idea of Eden , others realised the upcoming dangers of this extraction. Thus started a war between the people of Eden and the people of light where even the elders were with Eden *against thier will* (we can make sure of this because at the levitation spirit room in the vault we see a huge table with many chairs even one chair being toppled over. We can asume that the elders were trying to make the king understand the concequences of the light extraction which made him angry and storm out of the room leaving the chair toppled over).
In this season we get to see all the sufferings of the common people (presumably the people of light and the people who didnt choose a side) wherethey are either killed or taken captive by soldiers appointed by the king himself
That actually makes so much sense
though all of their stories make me feel depressed, i actually like the realism of the story and how much depth it gives to sky. not everything is all sunshines and rainbows when you're building an immersive game; you have to bring storms and tsunamis to actually make it feel real.
I absolutely LOVE how Sky has been including some darker themes recently, it really balances out and highlights the rest of the game and just really adds to it.
Sky had been preparing us for a long time, in story wise I'm exited for this season, it will give us more intell in WHY the realms had fallen and why WE are the only living ones. I quickly noticed the spears in SEED and I got more invested, I'll most likely release all spirits in order again since it's been so long and start redoing lore ideas

Seeing the Aurora season stories and these kinda looks like TGC is expanding the lore to prepare us for their cinematic project, since we've only seen the one they've shown at the Nintendo Switch launch. Think about it, all we've seen until now has been wholesome and cute but recently TGC is making stories a little bit different and now more tragic; if you recall, in the cinematic trailer they showed us how there used to be a civilization in Isle of Dawn and now the place has been sweeped without any info given, maybe bc of the war we're currently witnessing but we haven't received context yet. Hopefully all this influences the lore, cause I'm down BAD to watch any cinematic stuff from Sky
On the map wasteland is directly outside the vault and wasteland had a war that took place so it honestly in my opinion is about time they did a few stuff more for lore on it :D this current season kinda did already but I'm glad they are going a little more into it. Even if it is a sadder story, everyone grows from hardships and overcoming them so I'm glad not every single season in sky is completely happy and lighthearted. :D

I like how they highlight the props in the memories like the wind chime or tea pot which the spirit will bring. I still look very much forward to all of it.
I like that this next season is taking place directly in Vault and not just connected to the realm like Starlight Desert is. The library place lowkey gives me The Chronicler’s quarters vibes from The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night.
I’m glad that we’re finally starting to see what the actual life of the people was like rather than just a bunch of Skypeople holidays and fluff. We’re seeing what happens to regular people, and the fact that it’s not all rainbows and celebrations adds so much depth to the Sky kingdoms. I was going to stop playing after the season of aurora, but now I can’t bc this dark lore exists. “Season of depression.”
I am okay with the sad stories, we really need to accept the sadness as a feeling, because the real world is full of war, loss and cruelty and we need to continue living through it.
I like how this season reflects the sadness and loss, hardships we are experiencing worldwide with current events. It places us on the same level.

Also, I'm really excited for this season, because it may have a similar vibe of emptiness and (more overlying than) underlying sadness, but the cosmetics are interesting and colorful - instead of just all black and repetitive - and the characters have so much... CHARACTER. As sad as the storyline is, I genuinely love what TGC is doing here, and I'm really looking forward to the new season.
There's finally gonna be some good fulfillment to those lore plot holes surrounding golden wasteland, and I especially love how it's tying in with other seasons as well, like shattering and aurora's last quest.
In terms of my theories, I think that first of all, we all have an idea that the Seed of Hope quest was tied directly to the war. It just makes sense. However, the war in Aurora could possibly be a separate one entirely from the one in Remembrance. The differences being between spirits and darkness in the aurora war, and being between spirits and themselves in Remembrance.
The "war(s)" - whether between spirits and themselves or spirits and the darkness - is a very cool subject to touch on, and it brings that sense of genuineness to sky that is also applicable in real life. The game has been very magical and wistful so far, as if it were existing for the purpose of being like an escape from reality. Not that it won't continue to be... but the game can be a sweet release as well as a serious and enthralling, as well as relatable one. But the subject of the war being the main focus for an ENTIRE SEASON is SO COOL to me. It almost felt like TGC was sort of avoiding it in past seasons, but now it's quite literally the star of the show.

It seems the spirits were fighting among themselves even during the Seed quest - there were spears thrown at him as he was carrying an injured soldier back - the Krill don't throw spears, those weapons must have belonged to Spirits.
@@Sigma_Vehnke You are very right. Perhaps the spirits were fighting each other and the krill crashed the party, which could be why the Aurora quest had spears at the beginning of it, and then the krill chased them after (if I remember correctly 🤔)

Though the lore implications from this are interesting since I always presumed that the battle in wasteland was the spirits against the darkness...maybe the spirits weren't all one united army after all.
If everyone has been paying attention since playing Sky you know that something catastrophic happened and what’s left are these spirits memories, so the core of the game is dark. Season of Aurora as beautiful as it is is also telling a dark story, The Aurora concert gave us even more insight into what happened.
The creatures of Light in the different realms were used and exploited as resources for power and the realms were mined of all their power, and there was an internal struggle for who should be in control of that power, it caused that light to be used and subverted into a darkness that resulted in a cataclysmic War that destroyed everyone except for some of the creatures of Light that remained, and because there were some that used the Light to protect the realms (Vault of Knowledge Spirits) they remained intact as well.
And as anyone can easily see the epicenter for this War came from Eden. All very Dark when you see the story for what it is trying to convey a warning of the very road our own world is heading down.

13:35 gives me flashbacks to when the seed of hope was trying to save their friend while having spears chucked at them
And Sky starts out dark and sad by it's self, we skykids are born to heal the world and gather the "lost spirits" of those who DIED in some mysterious event that apparently ended all spirits lives before us. Then we go to eden and get brutally stoned to death by sharp crystals and rocks... Sky has always been a sad place at it's core, pretty and now peaceful but sad. They're called spirits and ancestors because they're dead! Some we see died in some horrible ways like the "forest crying spirit" Two of her friends were crush in front of her by huge boulders, then the next spirit died of a darn plant infection they GREW OUT OF HIM! She buried them and died alone still trapped in the cave. Theoretically by starvation or cold. Dark and sad things in sky are nothing "new" or "unlike sky" but yeah this is very dark! All and all I like this season because it gives us some good lore.
I was just thinking, since the vault of knowledge as it’s name suggests, contains knowledge, and this is the season of remembrance, these are all the memories of the ancient beings in a specific event (war?) which is being stored in vault and we’re learning about the history and revisiting all the memories of the different casualties of war 😢 i’m dreading to see the quests at this rate 😅 it’s gonna be a season of heartbreak instead
I feel like this season links with Aurora. Aurora seemed like it was showing the economy of the Sky people, calm before the storm
I always felt like they were preparing for something in Aurora especially with the spirits in dawn and the underground caverns.

those warriors the spirit is sneaking past, they have a diamond symbol. And in aurora seed of hope quest, spears are thrown in wasteland while they were running away. So its clear the King doesnt just control dark creatures, but had spirits still working under them too. Also in battlefield, the shields had either or two symbols: the diamond (which is everywhere in sky, also the kings mask in concept art looks like a diamond) and a sun symbol. So I think when the king got corrupted by darkness, other spirits were too, but some other spirits went against the king because the king was corrupting the light of sky kingdom.
Edit: Woah that spear is gigantic- Maybe the king has some sort of machine that throws those?

Season of sorrow? I think Nasty said that, but it really fits. So sad. My nephew is definitely not playing this season. His little 5 year old mind is not ready for this.

Yay! I'm so excited for this season. Sky keeps outdoing themselves!! I am also very happy to see a new area. When you first got in, I thought it was just going to be that room, and I was slightly underwhelmed, but I'm thrilled to see there's more!!

He just looks like the veterans son.. maybe the story revolves around the lady finding the son, nursing him back to health as the veteran finds a (potentially) orphaned boy. after losing his son and adopting him. Then later on everyone reunites!… I hope at least 😭

I went into this like “oo, new season stuff!” I didn’t realize I’d be on the verge of crying on the FIRST QUEST ;^;
It seems quite relevant in the context of the war in Ukraine; we are seeing so many scenes of devastation and grief; daily images of the stoic, traumatized strength of the Ukrainians. These are serious times. Feels appropriate to have space in Sky for tragedy and sorrow. The spirits are iconic and represent universally recognizable experiences of the oppressed and suffering. It feels weird to say I’m looking forward to it, but the new season will be compelling, I’m sure, and the cosmetics and emotes are appealing and will be nice additions to the game. ❤
just imagine - people who are already traumatized by these events, people who have been experiencing horror for the last year - logging in to sky to sit back and relax and maybe forget about the harsh reality for a couple of minutes... and then they see this. their tragedy is like, a funny little game now, an amusement for others! it's actually offensive, tgc is a fucking joke.

There are so many other kinds of games that someone looking for a superficial escape from reality would choose. I’m not a big defender of TGC, but I do admire the beauty and depth of emotion that they have built into Sky and Journey, and that’s what I think new players are drawn to. Most stay because we find it fulfilling in some way. And I think TGC has shown a lot more accountability for their games’ message than most. The game is free; it’s available on mobile; completely free gameplay in Sky is not only possible, but enjoyable; and TGC has made a game built for friendship and kindness. At the end of the day, TGC doesn’t seem so terrible to me. And Sky is far less trauma-inducing than many other multi-player RPGs I can think of.

Serious note tho: I do get the feeling that there was some sort of divide between the realms over using the light or not. Or maybe the split between the elders (I forget where I read about that) lead to civil war. And the isle elder sent us to clean up the mess that he blames himself for but it was really the one he raised. Sorta like Obi-Wan blaming himself for the rise of the Empire so he sends Luke to clean it up (wait that’s not far from what happened >_> )

Oh ok I just realized what this season is gonna show. The soldiers are never good. Every soldier makes terrible things. We all have to remember the people who were hurt. I thought about it since the cosmetics video. War is terrible, and there is nothing to justify it. It’s way to painful for me. I’m literally about to cry, from remembering how I felt when the war began…
I like to dress as a soldier in sky and have suspected for a long time that the realms were not at peace with one another and were probably warring over energy sources, and also that the elders were not as wholesome as initially thought. Find me a crab or a dragon that uses a spear or a sword, Nasty.
From what I gathered from the lore there was a war between the old King who was excessively mining for resources and causing darkness to grow in the kingdom, and Golden Wasteland rebels, who were the most affected by the King's actions. Essentially a story about over consumption/climate change and how it's killing our planet and causing people to fight. We saw that war in the season of AURORA, one that had already been theorized to have happened thanks to environmental storytelling, so I assume this season is a continuation of that, this time showing more personal stories about how it affected the people of the kingdom.
the juxtaposition of this beta season with the official trailer featuring What a Wonderful World sung in minor key... I should have taken that as foreshadowing

I believe this season might give an insight to the war that happened in Sky as well (cf area name Battlefield in gw), but from the civilians' perspective. The old father veteran whose son died at the war, the daughter in the occupied zone trying to take care of her sick father, the newspaper boy who got his mother taken away by soldiers (perhaps she was part of rebels in the occupied zone?), and finally a soldier who won the war coming back to home just to be ambushed.
I'm just gonna pretend that the spirits are just putting on a fun lil play for the skykids this season so it's not as depressing :'D

I've wondered how Sky might evolve its content as its initial fanbase ages. I started playing during Season of Sanctuary, and played relatively consistently until Season of Flight, which wasn't my cup of tea lol. When I saw there was gonna be a season with Aurora tho, I had to start playing again! I've been very happy with what I see as a jump up in the emotional maturity of the Aurora spirits compared with those that came before. This looks even more nuanced, hopefully.
To me, Sky is like a fairytale dream I can escape to. What I love about fairytales tho is how through them, we can explore heavy subject matter through a more removed and innocent lense. I am hoping that this season, and more to come, will bring new emotional nuance to Sky. Sky shouldn't lose its innocence, wonder, and fun, but it could also be a beautiful and moving way to collectively work on our emotional health/EI. Especially with the current state of the world (and this also strongly reminds me of the invasion in Ukraine!), I am excited to see Sky explore new ground in moving and beautiful ways 😊

I think it has to do with golden wasteland the son going off to war and that's why you see Lances and shields everywhere.
TGC after the season of "Aurora": well, happiness is over, children, people are dying in the war, and here is sadness, pain and no dreams :)
But if you think about it, maybe they wanted to show that not everything was fine there when the spirits were alive.
These wars can also be the reason why spirits eventually fall, leaving behind some emotions and dead lands, some of which come to life, and some are simply completely destroyed by such "humanity". Completely destroyed like the Golden Wastelands and maybe even the Island of Dawn.
It's just a theory, but looking at what's happening in the world right now, I think that... um... Perhaps we need even more similar seasons, because many people have not realized how terrible death is, especially from another person..
What were you thinking "this is dark"? Because there's a spirit who lost three of their friends in a cave and I'm pretty sure there are more cases like this. This is not the first time we see a spirit -some sort of- die.

I was just reading about Sky in the Playstation Store (relaxing, peaceful, experience the best of humanity, positive, bring light and warmth to everything you touch, etc.). Do you think we ought to warn these prospective moths that their welcome-to-Sky season looks to be a bit ... not so peaceful or relaxing?
