In this video, I take you along on a day trip with my beagle and I as we explore Strathcona Provincial Park. The oldest BC park established in 1911.
You'll see footage of our drive there and through the park and of our hikes to three gorgeous waterfalls. I also show you clips of three RV campgrounds and some scenic pullouts. The video ends with a still photo slideshow from the day.

So much beauty, and I bet that waterfall spray felt great on a nice summer day! You do such an amazing job of sharing your travels thanks for all your efforts. Loved the shot of Angie at the end she's such a sweet dog. The color of the water was so blue and inviting. Living the good life... until next time enjoy your day!
Yes, great place to beat the heat. Cheers! Ray
Nice place indeed! Guess I better get my passport renewed! :) Great job Ray.
We've been here last month, First week of April. it was a great experienced to see waterfalls. We camped at Quinsam Campground for 3 nights.
Beautiful falls! Thanks for taking us along!
Now these are my destinations when I begin my RV life! The deserts are ok, but, these areas make you believe that heaven does exist, and you are in it!. Thanks Ray
Yes, I sometimes forget how beautiful it is here, having spent 45 years of my life on the island. Cheers! Ray
Awesome . I cant believe I've never checked these places out.. been on the island 34 years
Wow, another awesome video. Strathcona is the first park that gives the Olympics National Park some real competition ;-}
one of your top 5 videos, thanks for sharing such a beautiful place.
Peanuts, Popcorn, tomato, bacon whole wheat bread. And what a view! Thanks Ray beautiful!!!!
I love Waterfalls, Thanks for taking us along. Wonderful Video. Cheers!
how can some people thumbs down to beautiful Canadian land. that was great Ray thanks
Beautiful!
Great video. Really enjoy the tour. Beautiful scenery. Thanks for all your great videos.
You're most welcome, thanks for watching. Cheers! Ray
Thank you for this video. Everything about this place is majestic. I have been inspired to create a "Travel Bucket List".
Beautiful trip Ray! We were not far from there last year. We took a day trip from Victoria up to Nanaimo, and then to MacMillan Provincial Park and Cathedral Grove. It was a great trip! Cathedral Grove was awesome! Definitely want to go back to Vancouver Island! Next time hopefully I'll have my 5th wheel by then, it'll be a long trip from New Orleans, but should be awesome! Thanks for all your videos!
Awesome, those are some big trees there at Cathedral Grove! The Island has some great provincial parks. Cheers Ray
I just watched this video and noticed you shot video of my campsite at Ralph River with the two tents and no vehicle in the site. We were rock climbing that day at crest creak. I had to pause it and comment! Small 🌎
Cool. :)
Thank you for the great video!!! Oh lived in the states but after seeing this video I may spend the summer months in BC or elsewhere in Canada.
Thanks for the video Ray, been years since I've been up that way.
OMG. Lovely video
very nice, thanks Ray. the music, too.
Ok Fellow Canadians (Non BC Residents and particularly Manitoba-Ontario-Quebec residents) go to --> @ 18:48 and what do you NOT notice! It'll be pretty obvious! No BUGS...none nada...Check out the guys windshield just shortly afterwards as he drives and again you'll notice...NO BUG SPLATS on the windshield!
I can't describe this to my friends back east as no one can fathom being in the middle of the bush, especially with your head a few feet off the edge of a lake shore and NOT have to whack through the clouds of blackflies and mosquitos! AMAZING! Very Classy video editing! Love your Dog!
Yes, I remember our visit to Ontario in 2011, hated the heat and the bugs! Couldn't get out of there fast enough as we weren't used to them like that.
Excellent video
Thank you for showing us around. Keep safe
Thank you. Love Your video.
Your videos are very well done........... thanks
Thank you. :)
One of your best videos thanks for posting
You're welcome, thanks! Ray
I love your videos ! I never get bored enjoying the views. I feel that I am the one hiking and driving thru this beautiful places. Thank you so much for sharing and hope some day I will be there, too.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching. Cheers! Ray
All I can say is wow!
Thank you so much for sharing the map. I wish more adventurers would show maps. It amazes me how many times utubers show a beautiful park, give the name of the park, but don't even mention where it is located !?! Surprising how many parks have the same names. You do a great job with the video. We really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work.
You're welcome, glad you liked it. Cheers! Ray
Great video Ray! I was in that park about 6 years ago with my uncle (I live in the Maritimes). When I was there in early November, the water level of the lake was a lot lower and you could see old tree stumps sticking up.
Yeah, there are some old stumps along the shore in places, makes for interesting photos. The lake is used as a reservoir.
Absolutely spectacular video. Thanks. Have you ever been over to the west side of the island? Walked on the beach at Tofino or Ucluelet? Or down to Port Renfrew? It would be a nice weekend trip from Campbell River. Possibly another great video.
Yup, been all over the Island. Used to have a camper van for many years when I lived in Victoria and explored pretty well every valley and logging road on the island with it over the years. One of my favorite west coast beaches is near Bamfield called Pachena Bay. Another is San Josef Bay up near Cape Scott.
Just beautiful waterfalls. Thanks for sharing your adventure. I just visited the Myra falls with another CZcamsr, The Samurai Carpenter, who lives in Vancouver. He caught some nice, I mean really nice, trout in that area.
Yumm, nothing like fresh caught trout when camped on a lake. :)
Great format Ray.
My God, looks just like the Adirondacks.
Great video, Ray. Brought back memories of mid 1980s when we lived in cr. Thought you might have included the new suspension bridge in the video. Maybe next time?
Thanks. I was thinking of combining that with a visit to the Quinsam hatchery. The salmon should be peaking towards the end of summer.
Thanks for such great views and information about this beautiful place that if wasn't for you I would never knew they exist. I recently subscribed to your channel, and what makes your channel different that the others is that you let the viewers enjoy the views without your face blocking the scenery. (no offense). Most you tubers make their videos and their faces take most of the screen. LOL!
You're welcome, thanks for watching. I agree I'm sure most folks don't need to see my face all the time. :)
Cheers! Ray
GREAT VIDEO AWARDS 2017.
We are moving to the island for the summers starting 2019.
This is the best video I have seen for explaining and showing.
You could do this for a living if you fly a Drone ?
Beg the wife for a flying machine and I will keep begging for SEARS tools .........now on sale.....LOL EVERYBODY MUST GO
Thanks. It's a beautiful Island.
I like drone watching footage but don't feel comfortable annoying others enjoying nature with the buzzing to get it. I know myself I can't stand when I hear one close by, sounds like a swarm of angry bees. Hopefully they will evolve further and get quieter.
Loving all your videos. Waterfalls are breathtaking. I assume the water is cold, even in summer, from glacial melt?
Thanks :) yes its pretty cold, , snow melt and recent rainfall on the surrounding mountains, takes most of the summer for the lakes to warm up
Hi Ray, thanks for another awesome video of your beautiful country. Was just wondering if any of the waterfall water is potable. Tom
I'm not sure, the run off is from the melting mountain snow above so you would think it would be pretty good.
Extraordinary! Hey, what camera are you using for your stills? Thanks
Thanks. It's a Sony NEX5, a few years old now - www.loveyourrv.com/love-your-rv-photo-and-video-creation-tools/
Looks like Bear Country. What have you experienced? Having said that, you do a professional video, well done!
There are black bears around but they don't tend to bother humans much, usually run away. They are mostly a problem when close to towns and habitual to eating garbage. I've lived on Vancouver Island most of my life and camped a great deal and have only come across a few. Usually, we see them when driving the back logging roads. Cheers, Ray
@@LoveYourRV - thanks Ray, okay, I'll take a chance at this and see where it goes - type in Sasquatch sightings in Strathcona Park and entertain yourself ( maybe it's for real). For another good laugh, and if you have the patience, type into Google my name (Egon Speneder) and along with that "Tweedsmuir Park", or "Tuchodi Lake", "Kwadacha Wilderness". This was all done in the late 90's when true HD cameras weren't invented yet, only "Hi 8". Sure could have used a camera like yours! Keep cranking out those videos. Vancouver Island is beautiful. I spent a number of summer's on Cortes Island and Desolation Sound. Why not treat yourself and do a nice video on Haida Gwaii Island?! Cheers!
Where are all the people? Very beautiful place.
If you get far enough away from big cities the people thin out. :)
Very Inspirational, lovely, nice clean peaceful places. Wondering if anyone swims on hot muggy days in the waterfalls areas and lakes? or is the water too frigid even on hottest days? Prost
There were a few people swimming in the lake at the bottom of the Myra falls when I visited. The water stays fairly cold as the waterfalls and lakes are from the mountain snow runoff. There are some warmer lakes further downstream that lots of folks swim in.
Love Your RV excellent
great video, very beautiful area. do I need a passport to visit Canada?
I think so, I need a passport to get into the USA. Used to be just a drivers license but after 9/11 that all changed.
Yes, a passport is needed in todays world. Also, Google and see what can and cannot be taken into Canada and back (ex: fruits)
How far is the hike to Myra Falls from the trail head?
Not far only around a mile or so. Some elevation change though.
Not exactly all it glory as the park has been previously logged.
Ever think of getting a PayPal or Patreon account for donations? I really love your videos, I'd send you a few bucks/month.
Thanks, appreciate that! I have thought about it but like having the option of not putting out videos if I don't feel like it or can't for some reason. Having a bunch of paid subscribers I would feel obligated to put out content on a regular schedule.
So, I've kept the blog and videos advertising and affiliate link funded. Here are my affiliate links. There is a PayPal link for donations as well. www.loveyourrv.com/love-rv-affiliate-links/
Cheers, Ray
Ok, I just sent you a donation. I'll donate some each January 1st.
Thank you :)
Thanks for making so many inspirational and helpful videos.
Trudeau is throwing himself a party at lebreton flats
Thanks, but I really couldn't care less about what he is doing or not doing. I got better things to do with my time. Cheers, Ray
@@LoveYourRV Awesome, it was a good place to stay away from. 🇨🇦
Well I'm a 4700 km drive away and on an island so not much chance of being in the area. :)
@@LoveYourRV heading that way ! From there, * born there. Moving back, cause this side is hot n muggy ! In the middle of finding a new place ! Last month here! See ya over there🇨🇦
