- A few clips and pics of my NKC treeing cur Shae from the 2015-16 squirrel season. This was her 1st full hunting season. She's not quite 2 yet, nice young dog that's a lot of fun to hunt.

Would like to buy that dog problem is I'm in Alaska out of Mississippi where have taken 50 squirrels in one day with a tree dog a 1/2 black & tan 1/2 blue tick has been over 50 years ago but the thrill lingers in my dreams. Where is this hunt taking place?

I usually go squirrel hunting in February after the end of deer season, the leaves are off the trees and the squirrels can see you before you spot them. They are so good at hiding you'll swear there are no squirrels in the woods. I've come back home many times without even seeing one squirrel. This is where we need a dog to find them and tree them. It is about hunting squirrels but at the same time it also about watching the dogs do their work of scenting and treeing the prey. Squirrel hunting with dogs is the same as bird hunting with pointers. Without the dog you can walk your legs off and won't see any squirrel or bird.
