After hearing the things that have happened between the Cast/Dan and Chevy, some of these jokes really come through

I don't know how people watching this aren't realizing that they're all playing exaggerated/comedic versions of themselves, Chevy included. Chevy's problem with the show arose from later feuding with Dan Harmon, he always spoke highly of the other cast members. They all obviously know they're on camera, it's a bit.
Sure but its pretty clear that Dan disliked Chevy while making this. He tries to goad Donald and Joel into crapping on him, he seems annoyed about Chevy not having a tv, and he doesn't laugh or really play along with the jokes Chevy makes. The season 2 cast evaluations make it even more clear. There is plenty of reporting out there that Chevy was hard to work with, but it seems to me that if Dan had trouble disguising his dislike for Chevy for even a few minutes for a DVD extra, then he was probably openly hostile to him in person
Nimish Todi i don’t think you realize that these evaluations are clearly character based. Even dan is leaning into a character to an extent. The tv thing you’re talking about is clearly a joke on both ends idk how you can’t see that. Chevy didn’t have real problems with Dan until later, so this video has nothing to with that and seeing it as different than that is a disrespect to Chevy and really Dan to an extent.
Arthur Vandalay even after the fact there wasnt an episode he was in where he didnt make me laugh. Its a shame things went the way they did but at least they had a wicked run
@@nimishtodi5614 I mean yeah alot of it is exaggerated but its also super meta in Dan Harmon fashion. IE Chevy being hard to work with etc, Dan's hygiene, Alison's sexualization, Gillian's awkwardness when doing jokes,ect.
I get the impression season one is the one Chevy had the least problem with. He said he had no desire to do tv, and that manifested itself more and more through his time on the show, but when he read the pilot script he thought it was one of the best scripts he’d ever read. That’s why he did the show. He also had worked with Dan before. It seems like as the show got weirder and weirder he stopped finding it as funny and lost whatever enthusiasm he once had. Even though they’re all kind of playing fictionalized versions of themselves, I do think they didn’t do a great job of hiding at best tension between them, at worst just dislike.
I think I am now in love with Gillian. She weird and noble like for real.

The problem was it wasn't popular when it first aired. moving to Yahoo Screen for season 6 didn't help. But the show found a new audience when it went on Hulu in the US and All4 in the UK. And now it's on Netflix, more and more people are discovering it every day

In fact that entire webseries was probably the perfect audition tape for this part on Community.
Gillian is too fucking cute.
I like how Yvette was completely serious about everything.
Yvette really is the mother of the group. And she's like that with the fans too. I remember as a teenager saying how I wished there were people like her in my area to look up to. She sent me a whole big essay encouraging me and telling me to follow my dreams. I also had quite a few chats with her. She was by far the chattiest with the fans (Gillian Jacobs was really sweet too to me) and cared a lot about the fanbase. Yvette is a treasure. She does have strong opinions though and you don't want to mess with her.
I like how everyone plays up kind of being a bunch of dicks and then Yvette is up and she’s just so sweet and kind and has nothing but good things to say. What an amazing person.

After hearing Dan speak about his alcoholism during the first couple season, seeing him cry at the last few seconds hit hard.
They basically pitted the cast against each other.... AND I LOVE IT

Chevy Chase is just pierce. He criticizes Joel first, he jumps at other people for his pride, and everyone unanimously agrees he's the worst.

Nah if you look at interviews at the Paley centre and other interviews at the time he always had high praise for the show. Looks like he was leaning into a character here.

@@rivergirl4061 That was an n-bomb dropped on the set, because he was frustrated that his character was getting more and more villainous and dislikeable. He said something along the lines of 'And when is Pierce gonna say n****r'. He didn't like that his character was spiralling down into the realm of outright evil, when his season 1 character was a more complex and unexpected father figure.
What he said to Donald was that he was only funnier because he was black. Not sure if Donald took offense, but the worst I've heard Donald say was that he thought Chevy was fighting time, and for him a true artist shouldn't be. They were always ribbing about race on set anyway, and Donald (even Joel and Dan) liked to put Chevy on the spot, since Chevy's humor was to be unnecessarily rude. Non-PC humor got thrown a lot on the set, because the show relied on non-PC satire for comedy.
@@djinnsbetpools so Chevy was frustrated that his character was becoming more and more racist, so his solution was to say something racist to showcase how upset he was to the whole cast? That makes sense.
