    I *do* think that what the Yankees have said publicly regarding Gil's innings can be taken *pretty* seriously if we look at what they did with Clarke Schmidt.
    Schmidt threw 90 innings in 2019. 6 in 2020. 43 in 2021. 90.2 in 2022. Then 159 last year (32 starts). This includes 11 starts in august and september, when the Yankees were more or less out of contention. If they didnt notably rest Schmidt last year. Schmidt had higher rate really early in the season and settled into kind of where he was for most of the year. You could maybe argue some stuff decreased late, but thats almsot more to the point where they have a player they anticipate being in their rotation long term whod never thrown 91 innings in a pro season and they more or less just let him go.
    Gil has 2 pro seasons throwing more than Clarke ever had.

    I rode by Rickwood two days ago. Place is in rough shape, in a rough area.
