- We went back to the Ace of Diamonds mine located in Middleville, NY to find more Herkimer Diamonds! These water-clear, double-terminated quartz crystals are stunning! We found some epic crystals on this trip, especially towards the end of the video. The last video we made at this location was very short and didn't show much of the mining we did. So this time we filmed most of the Herkimer Diamonds that we found, plus an overview at the end.
If you're interested in coming to this location you can find details on directions, mining fees, and other info on their website www.herkimerdiamonds.com.
I've seen a lot of other videos about Herkimer diamond mining that focuses on breaking rocks. While this is a high reward strategy, we want to show that it's possible to find several high-quality Herkimer diamonds by just looking in the dirt. This can be done by just walking around, screening, digging with garden tools, and looking for areas of erosion where rain has uncovered the crystals for you!
Please subscribe to see more content like this in the future! We may check out some of the other mines in this area as well. Let us know in the comments if you want to see that!

Ive been there 3x in my life, 50 yrs ago, last time 20yrs. Didn't know what I was doing or how or where to look. Great video and even greater, bonding with son.
I agree! It’s so enjoyable to do this with family. I hope our videos help others to have success when they visit these mines. Thanks for watching!
You guys did well. Such a shame ACE is closed. This was my favorite place. Spent dozens of days mining and camping on top near the airstrip. Hope they can re open one day. RIP Ted

What mine do you like the best? We were thinking about going to Crystal Grove. I like Mohawk but seems more expensive. Thanks for the videos
Hi! Ace of Diamonds is our favorite mostly because we’ve made so many fun memories there. Unfortunately, they’re not open this year. Crystal Grove is a good place too, reasonably priced, and is a favorite of many. We’re going to dirty diamond diggers in July for the first time. Good luck!
Yes Love ✌️🤝👏👍👏👏👏 maravilha gostei de mais

Thanks for watching! These are quartz crystals. The name Herkimer Diamond is a nickname they had when first discovered in this area because of how clear they are.

How hard are they to find? If I bring my younger kids 10yrs old and under will they have trouble at the herkimer mine?
Hi! I would say the best time to go is after it rains. That way they’ll have a better chance of finding the ones that wash out of the dirt. If they’re into playing in the dirt I think they’ll have a blast!
Im going there soon its going to be my first time!!! I know its gonna be a bLast!!
That’s awesome! We’re going back soon as well. I hope you do well!
@@themobleys Thank you! One question how fun was it 1-20 because im so curious and excited for when im going
It can be a lot of hard work and you may need some patience, but it’s well worth it when you pull a beautiful gem out of the dirt. There’s nothing like it!
Please how to identify harkimar quartz physical properties and identification to their is harkimar quartz is present
Hi! Thanks for watching. Herkimer diamonds (quartz) is only considered a “herkimer” if it comes from New York state and is found in or near Herkimer county or the Mohawk Valley region. Other characteristics are that the host rock is dolostone, they are double terminated, and often water clear as opposed to other quartz that are often hazy.
Imagine uma crande riquesa asim e muito lindo
