Dalaran - Music & Ambience | World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King

- Dalaran (aka Dalaran City) is a magocratic city-state which was once located by the Lordamere Lake on the Alterac Mountains shore in the Eastern Kingdoms. With the beginning of the War against the Lich King its leaders, the Kirin Tor, used their powers to move the city over the Crystalsong Forest in Northrend in order to use it as a front to attack the armies of the Lich King.
The Kirin Tor rule the single city. Its inner fortress, the Violet Citadel, has served as the focal point for magi and the study of the arcane throughout human history. The kingdom's national color is violet and its flag is a yellow, possibly golden, eye set against a light purple background.
The city contains areas that are faction-specific in the same manner as Shattrath City is divided amongst the Aldor and Scryers. Certain parts of the city can only be reached by Alliance players (Silver Enclave) while others are strictly for Horde use (Sunreaver's Sanctuary). The majority of the city remains neutral.
Evidently, the blue dragonflight, led by Malygos, has declared war on all mortal magic-users. In response to this crisis, the city has been moved (likely with the bulk of the Kirin Tor and most available resources) to levitate high in the skies above Northrend. Today, Dalaran floats majestically above the Crystalsong Forest in defiance of the blue dragonflight as well as the forces of the Lich King in Icecrown, which are located to the north of its current position.
Dalaran can be accessed via the teleport crystal in Violet Stand, Crystalsong Forest, north of the Dragonblight. A council - including Archmage Modera, Vereesa Windrunner, and Archmage Aethas Sunreaver, with Rhonin at its head - leads the new Dalaran in its war effort in Northrend.

So many memories! I remember this Dalaran opening music even from the high school times :) Life was so simple back there...
I still haven't figured out if life was complex like it is now but we perceived it simple or we remember it as being simple. Or it was indeed just simple.
Being younger, with more time on our hands was definitely making it less complicated though.

@@Meisio I'd say it was slightly simpler *and* we perceived it as much simpler, mainly because we didn't have to worry about paying the bills every month, trying to make the world a better place (well, most still don't worry about that tho, and they never will if they haven't woken up already, I guess) in any way we can, starting by becoming more aware (and taking responsibility, consequently), which by itself brings more anxiety since there are so many things that are wrong.
Personally, I have a truly hard time trying to enjoy the game because of the times we live in. It wasn't much "better" 10 or 20, even 30 years ago but I'm definitely ten times more aware of the situation now, and some things just exacerbate over time when you hide them under the carpet (racism and far-right return -well, or they're just more organized and in fashion nowadays, for rather obvious reasons-, nature's decline/climate change or whatever you'd like to call it, plus its consequences, etc etc, depending on where you live too... oh, capitalism and huge companies controlling everything and keeping the majority poor, financially and mentally, and the list could go on, but yh, certain things have changed a lot, hopefully for the best in the long run although it seems like the opposite till now and it'll only get worse, truly bad, if we don't take our last chances as a species... heed my call).
Add to these that we start to worry about death (most ppl don't worry about losing someone, until their 40s or something)... and you've got a great mix of pressure.
Life was simpler back then wasn't it.

Ohhh yeah, the OG Dalaran. Man did I love this place. As I mentioned in your most recent one, the pinnacle of all the cities for me. It was just so full of life and interesting architecture, magic, details, cross faction… hell even the sewers were freaking cool. I find all these talks about the metaverse funny nowadays, we’ve had it for many years us gamers :)
sigh... the memories and amazement when I first got ported there during wotlk days. all the time I spent fishing at the fountain while I was listening
Wrath really was the finale of the Warcraft story. Beautiful.
Dalaran and Wotlk were fantastic. Always imagine myself with a fresh brew of coffee and of to do the dailies.

Seriously, this channel has already saved me some money, come to think of it... Playing isn't the same of course, but yeah, sometimes you mainly/only want to visit places and relax. Well, I like to be able to chat with friends too, but hey (this must be why I often leave so many comments btw, lol).
Could start using my laptop again and talk on bnet while listening to these, but I don't feel like it (plus I'd miss the visual part of the videos)... Hmmm gotta do it soon though, even though my absolute favorite person hasn't added me on bnet yet, and I can only talk to/play with her only when using my alliance chars (usually once per year, if I'm lucky and we synchronize our sub, as we both play less than we used to). I mean, I want to return for one month before Shadowlands prepatch, and don't wanna wait much longer. Ehm too much info I guess, I'll shut up.
I only wanted to mention I do the same sometimes 😅 who cares about endgame (and the newer expansions, dare I say)...

Still remember the time of LEG when I was going through the city for lots of things, and also the old Dalaran as my personal transit point for farming the Invincible mount. Epic bgm with flavour of magic.
Indeed, there were things to do in the city, that's why it was so populated. Also, very convenient placed in the center of the map, close to Icecrown :)
