    I am an 80-year-old guy just learning to cook and I just got an instant pot. I find Deborah‘s recipes to be simple and easy to follow which is exactly what I need. Her smothered pork chops are my go to dinner when I need something scrumptious in a hurry. I can truthfully say her no nonsense approach to recipes is refreshing. I have made a number of recipes and they all turned out great. I subscribe to her and regularly use her recipes.

    This is delicious! I made it for dinner tonight, and was a little apprehensive whether my husband would like it. (He's not fond of garlic, but I knew I was going to use it, anyway...lol.) To my surprise, he really liked it, and went back for 2nd...and 3rd! helpings of the sauce. Thanks so much for the recipe! I just bought a couple of pork loins which I had cut into roasts and chops, so I will be making it again!

    I always stock up on the super super thin chops from Costco due to the much cheaper price. They still came out really good in the Instant Pot, but definitely suggest using thicker ones for any sauce based chops in future. Starting to realize that the thin ones are mostly just good for bread crumb and fried =/

    This sounds delicious!!! I see you are using the Instant Pot. Is the InstaPot the same, or different? And I’m also seeing a Duo Instant Pot. I'm considering purchasing a small one (3 qt), but not sure which one to buy. I am sooooo confused!!!

    • @TheLastMinuteCook
      @TheLastMinuteCook  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello Cindy Rom, I know, right? Instant Pot and Instapot are the same thing as far as I know, that's just what some people call the pot. There are so many options that it gets confusing, but in general if you spend the time to figure out what your needs are you should be able to find a pot that works for you. Mine is an 8qt ultra :)

    • @TheLastMinuteCook
      @TheLastMinuteCook  Před 5 lety +2

      I think it will be fine! It will be thicker.. if you have regular milk, you can do half milk and half of your heavy cream. If not, go with the cream, and I bet it will be delicious! Debra :-)

    Could you use xanthine gum or is the almond flour the key?

    • @TheLastMinuteCook

      I haven't tried it with the gum, but the almond flour gives a nice texture and flavor so I would opt to keep it. Thanks for the question! Debra :-)

    • @TheLastMinuteCook
      @TheLastMinuteCook  Před 4 lety

      I think that would work just fine! Make sure they are not in a block stuck together and add 3 or 4 minutes to the cook time... and of course make sure to check they are done. Thanks! Debra :-)

    • @TheLastMinuteCook
      @TheLastMinuteCook  Před 4 lety

      I think browning by frying or searing would be great! Just make sure to reduce the rest of the cook time accordingly so you don't overcook those chops. Let me know how it goes!

    • @TheLastMinuteCook
      @TheLastMinuteCook  Před 5 lety

      Hi gerard, do you mean cream of tartar? In this recipe I use the almond flour as the thickening agent. It gives the sauce a nice depth. I hope you try it and enjoy it. Thanks for asking! Debra :-)

  • @jeanniemainzer8551
    @jeanniemainzer8551 Před 3 lety

    I would not recommend the almond flour--too grainy. Instead, try 1/4-1/2 tsp of xanthan gum. You will need to dissolve the xanthan gum in a bit of oil first (otherwise lumpy). Xanthan gum is a thickening agent. The almond flour is not good for "gravy".

    • @TheLastMinuteCook
      @TheLastMinuteCook  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for your suggestion, Jeannie Mainzer - with this recipe the almond flour works great and the sauce is really delicious, but I'll give the xanthan gum a try as well. I appreciate your tip! :)
