Federico Macheda is known for scoring a winning goal for Manchester United against Aston Villa in a 3-2 victory on 5th April 2009 - the goal sent Man Utd top of the league above Liverpool and the club never looked back winning another Premier League title.
After that goal Federico Macheda has gone on to have ups and downs after a promising rise through the academies at Lazio and Man Utd.
Kiko jumped on Skype for a chat about his career before that goal, the moments leading up to it and what happened to his career after the goal.
Playing for Sir Alex Ferguson with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and the UEFA Champions League winners of 2008 was some upbringing but Macheda made the breakthrough but unfortunately couldn't remain in the first team through injuries and poor form.
Now at Panathinaikos, Kiko is looking to rebuild his career and speaks to us about almost calling Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to discuss a January transfer back to Man Utd, his hopes in Greece, being a father, his heroes growing up, plus much more.

The great thing about Kiko Macheda was that he scored against Sunderland in the game after as well! So he basically won us two games in a row!

It takes some players a whole career to become a legend.... Kiko became a legend as a teenage boy from the youth team with one goal. There's no wonder his united career after that faltered. The roar in old Trafford when that ball hit the back of the net was enough for a whole career. And what a goal it was 🙏

I was at a restaurant when that famous goal of him. I hit my table so hard, stand up & shout goal! It was a tense game, we came back from behind if im not mistaken.

My family moved from Rome to Wolverhampton a few generations ago (exile during the revolution). I was really happy when he scored those goals and hoped a Roman would feature for MUFC. He was scoring so many for U18s. Making that step up is tough huh. What a goal though. it was a really important one for the season. United supporters do not forget and always appreciate.

I became an ardent Yanited fan around 07-09 as a youngin - watching MUTV and the lot, Kiko bagging bins for the reserves. Fast forward, the screamer against Villa & the winner against Sunderland - Macheda became my childhood hero. Sad how his Yanited career went, but I'm so glad he's doing well w Panathinaikos.
