Let's be real, first 27 minutes were just an intro to You Can't Quit Me Baby
Cortuesy point why they forget about epic I think I lost my headache!?
Definetly the best performace of You Can't Quit Me, that was on another fucking level...
This live version of How to Handle a Rope is so fucking good
I love that they played Feel Good Hit of the Summer at a rehab clinic
Sick version of you can’t quit me baby
I need to see more Trautmann but he's been killing it with the drums every time!
All of Queens drummers have an amazing attention to detail and know how to accentuate the peaks and valleys of the songs. I wish I could find one like that lol
I miss they playing in this times some songs form the first record.
its cool to see the progression of an artist like this. JH still has his earing; his black Ovation still has the ABR bridge and hasn't been mod'd into a string through yet. would have loved a shot of his pedal board at this stage. As always much respect to QOTSAarchiveFULL
Watching these old videos really makes me miss Nick. He was so much of what Early QOTSA was and this band was never the same without him.
is there QOTSA after Nick?
It is better
Unfortunately it seems like Josh got away from him just in time? Have you seen or heard what he is doing these days? Looks kinda sad.
@@scottallen9556 I agree, what josh is doing these days is so sooo sad.
@@killsapo Meh, I see what you did there. 😂 If Nick is happy, I’d rather be sad.
Arguably the best performances of Tension Head and How To Handle A Rope
It really doesn't feel like 3 minutes before Josh comes in on You Cant Quit Me Baby
He was having an issue with his guitar like a broken string during The Lost Art and he was tuning during the beginning of You Can’t Quit Me. Brendan always vamps during tuning.
@@scottallen9556 Honestly didn't watch the full show, just skipped to see the jam on You Can't Quit Me. Even more interesting to find out he had an issue, and that Brendan likes to vamp
@@gayvalds what's "vamp"?
@@nons823 Its when you "hover" around the same chord/progression to either start/end a song, build tension, or in this case, allow a fellow musician time to fix a technical issue
Dammm I wish they would remaster Avon to sound like this with the keys ! Sounds so different/ weird but it’s amazing
you can't quit me on this >>>
gold era!
Thought this was up already? Doesn’t matter, I’m here for all the fire again. Thanks
❤⚡❤️⚡
love to know what weird crap josh hid on his pedalboard round this time
Or anytime?
All the delays and stuff that he uses on you can’t quit me sound insane (I’m sure they’re probably just Boss or something quite run of the mill, but the way he uses them is so so sick)
@@hotelwarioI’ve always wondered about this! It could’ve been the side knob on the Maestro MPF-1 though, given that it’s effectively the cornerstone of his tone in this era, who knows ?
pedalboard photos are in regular john and you cant quit me baby
Oliveri rocking a Ween shirt. Awesome footage
Hail Boognish!
Yummy 😋
I was 666th like, makes me happy
Hey, is that Boognish on Nick's tee? Cool, man!
Feels like it's the only time Brendon wasn't bad on Avon haha
Seems so hot to oliveri to keep his shirt on.
I´ve been there. And yes, "You can´t quit me baby" was just a proper trip... Did they ever play it like this as long for 15 Minutes later ? I can´t remember.
The Rock in Rio 2001 version is like 20 minutes hahah. Gotta say prefer this version however;)
lebst du immer noch in Düsseldorf?
@@havoc170 Ja, werde ich auch hoffentlich immer. Speziell Urdenbach
Thats why it's called Stoner.
You mean Stoner Rock, right? Because I don't think anybody refers to their genre of music as just "Stoner". Lol 😄
Yeah this was cool but all things change. Josh left the punk shit where it belongs... In the past. Jk but seriously true artists must evolve or die and Mr. Homme is my favorite.
The keyboards on Avon 😖
It was never good
The keyboards are zany and I love it!
Short setlist. Other shows on the tour had 15 & 18.
Might be wrong but I think they were supporting Monster Magnet here
Playing You Can't Quit Me Baby for 14 minutes probably reduced the setlist a bit lol
repost?
I prefer Mikey Shoes on bass but Nick was fun.
I love Mikey shoes but dude Nick brought the energy and musical contributions.
A few months ago, I wouldn't have been able to fathom how anyone could possibly prefer any of Nick's successors to him, but now that I've had "In Times New Roman..." on infinite repeat since it's release in June, I'm finally coming to understand what a superb bass player Mikey Shoes really is, and, I admit, a better, more accomplished musician than Nick.
am i the only one who doesnt like the lap steel guitar player?
I don’t understand how come Queens of the Stone Age got more popular than Kyuss... I guess Josh somehow understood that Kyuss message was too deep for masses. As much as I adore Kyuss’ music I’ve never liked music of QSTA... but I understand Josh urge to make money.
My view on it is that Kyuss and QOTSA are both equally great. Kyuss has this mystique and reverence because they pioneered a genre, perfected that desert vibe. Kyuss never would’ve lasted though. As much as I love that music, Garcia’s vocals (don’t get me wrong I like Garcia) would’ve become a little outdated, and Kyuss musically put themselves into a box. They got that lighting in a bottle and really I think it ended naturally, albeit in a sad way.
Queens is more popular because of their willingness to pull from any genre and the fact that their style was unique just like Kyuss. I have never understood why people see them as a commercial band. Their music is much more weird and controversial (lyrically) than anything Kyuss put out. They’re just a great fucking band and people eventually caught onto it. IMO the songwriting and dynamics in Queens has the advantage over Kyuss. Say what you want about their last few records, I personally like them (villains is mixed for me) but I can’t imagine if anyone really took the time to dig into them they would say they were written or performed badly. It’s just not that heavy sound they used to have. I don’t mind it honestly. I would love for them to go back to their roots but I also dig that every album is different. Music has to move forward and if you don’t it becomes a parody of itself.
Neither band was ever about money. Josh turned down Kyuss reunion offers for millions because he didn’t want to ruin the legacy of the band.
Either way both bands are the tits and maybe the most important bands in rock in the last 25 years. Apparently Josh said recently he would be open to reuniting Kyuss so hopefully that happens in the future.
Kyuss' deep message? Having sex and doing drugs?
I love Kyuss but come on, let's be honest: Compared to Queens, they were a bit one-dimensional.
Nonsense.
