I was at this show. Had a few Corona beers with Josh before and after the show. He even gave me 2 during the show.You can see my right arm up at one point from slamming the entire beer and Nick and Josh start laughing.Great time for sure.

They mentioned Costco because there's actually a Costco right next to this place on Gratiot. The record store sadly closed, but the building is still standing. I think of this performance every time I pass by it.
I was there. GREAT Show for sure.
Any lineup with Oliveri will always be better for me. He was truly a monster musician and a distinctive element for Queens. They're still amazing, but Oliveri made them rawer and cruder. I liked them better with him in the band most definitely.

@@MikeysJukeBox Totally agree. There are basically 3 good songs and the rest is mediocre filler. The production was lame and the drums sound so punchy and weak, which is a travesty considering how amazing Jon Theodore is. I hope they make a come back with their next album. I remember when Villains was first released on CZcams, so many comments were praising it, claiming it was probably their best album.... like what the fuck, no it definitely isn't. I know music is subjective, but come on.
@@JAGNFL Their debut is the best, and like clockwork. Villains isn’t that bad. ALSO! Alan Moulder did the mixing on Villians. Mark just put the record together and let them to a certain direction. People act like Mark was the main mix engineer. 😂
Who knows how fucking awesome and heavy these guys would be today if Nick and Gene were still in the band.
The Rated R lineup was arguably their best. Gene Trautman was a monster drummer and Nick brought a distinctive bass tone and vocal style to their sound; w/o them it's still the Queens, just missing that raw element.
Band is light years better with the current line up
A new QOTSA record before 2018 is inevitable, In my opinion.

I can see why Josh doesn't use those ovation guitars anymore, had to tune the things every 2 minutes.
Well nowadays you could buy and replace tuners with lock in tuners. You might have been able to back then but who knows.
When one tunes down four half steps to C standard - it requires a bit more attention to tuning than with standard E tuning.
Well I mean, you can fix that also by getting thicker strings. I think Josh used 10s or 11s maybe.
But either way with lock in tuners they lock in they ain't going out of tune lol

Why did Alfredo Hernandez Leave?
He's a studio drummer. From my understanding, there was no bad blood. Josh asked him to help record the original QOSTA album and help with touring. From what is sounds like it was a short term gig for Alfredo until Josh could find a more permanent touring member....which never really work out ....lol
