Mercedes E-Class saloon in-depth review - Carbuyer

  • The Mercedes E-Class saloon is one of the world’s biggest-selling upmarket saloon cars, completing with the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6. In its latest generation, the E-Class is much like a scaled-down S-Class luxury car, such is the amount of technology and the luxurious feel it offers. Two engines are available - both diesel - and are quiet, powerful and efficient. The E-Class should certainly be on your list if you’re looking for a smart executive saloon car.

That said the only Merc sedan I'd be interested in is the C class.

you won't find a very new e class as a taxi outside Germany. Germany only cause they get subsidised.... obviously. outside that e class is generally used as an executive or chauffeured car (usually within 3 years of age). virgin airlines uses it for their premier class shuttle. really great car and more premium than others in the class in terms of fittings, trim and finish.

If you're going to be doing the driving yourself who needs an S-Class? Sure the S-Class is far superior in the back but does that matter if you're the one in the driver's seat? Then again if you're an enthusiast the Jags are probably a better bet. Anyone agree? However, I can't get over those air-con vents that fire ice-cold air at your finger tips in the Jags...And the Merc's cockpit is hard to ignore. Boy, that must be one supreme place to do your commuting.

That's bad though for the people buying a Sclass, Mercedes should never have done that as the Sclass cost more then double so now the can't justify the price my friends dad ordered one and he said it has keyless entry upgraded sound system as standard etc and it costs half the price the Sclass doesn't even have keyless entry or 4 zone climate control even a A6 has that. The BMW 7 series comes with a lot more standard equipment and the key is so cool and that's standard you would have to spen around £10,000 on options for the Sclass to get what the e class has or the 7 series. The Sclass feels amazing but there isn't many cool features we drove a standard one which would be what we would get with no options a s350d AMG line and it all the cool features are options

No you probably will not average 72 in the real world, but the numbers are there for comparison. In my experience with rentals, Mercedes outfitted with autos always achieve stellar fuel economy, usually better than the VW Golf's I have had, mind you that is at high speed on the autobahn.

What is the issue with having a familiar family face? The W140 S Class, W124 E Class and W202 C Class all looked near identical especially from the front. All they are doing now is going back to what they used to do. Why does it matter if it looks the same? I buy a car for myself not for others to look at. If one drives an S Class you are driving the best luxury sedan around if one drives a C Class you are driving one of the best compact executive saloons around. The C Class is still for a different buyer than the S Class. The S Class has more space and rear seats can recline etc etc. So I don't care that they look similar because they still look good and I couldn't care less whether people think the E Class is a C Class or whatever. I buy the car for myself not for other people. Most car people WILL be able to tell the difference and most people who are not in to cars wouldn't care anyway because I know people who don't even know what certain cars are even if they all look entirely different because they're just not into cars.

Rear light clusters are too small for such a large car. They look wrongly proportioned

Look at those glare on the screen/gauge, Mercedes could have use a matte finish film or glass, but they simply don't give a shit.
