    Good review. You should note at the end. The 3 series can come with AWD, one of the best AWD systems on the market. Getting a 3 series with M packages and AWD and a DINAN tuned system you will get into the M price range but get the AWD that you cannot get with them. I owned a 335i (this cars predecessor) with all that and I loved it. There is a difference clearly between standard 3 series and M3's and there is no comparison. But to get the AWD it is a fair compromise.

      amen to that. I picked up a 2017 340i GT M-Sport and it is the definition of a badass car. I live in Canada so sedan's are the least popular vehicle due to the snow, but the AWD is superior. I think if I were to get an suv it would need to be the X3 M40i or better, the problem right now is the price tag lol. A buddy of mine owns the genesis g80, and another friend of mine owns the kia stinger. I've driven both, and yes the stinger is a great car, but I'm just not wowed by the exterior design, and especially the "kia" brand right on the wheel. The genesis is a beautiful car, I just wish they made a hatchback version and also didn't rip off aston martin's badge basically.

      @joshs3905 Před 2 lety +1

      I own a 2017 340i GT M-Sport and can try to give you some insight on my 1 year review:
      Performance - 9/10 - If not 9.5, the car has power in it stock, a stage 1 tune will make it faster than a stock M340i. Braking is amazing with the M-Brakes, it accelerates fast, and turns well. It has 4 driving modes that completely change the way your engine sounds & performs, it definitely performs like a sports car.
      Comfort - 8/10 - It's a sweet ride, heated seats and steering wheel make the cold drives to work much nicer. It heats up quickly, driver's cockpit has a good amount of leg space, nothing you will find on larger SUV's or trucks (I came from a truck) but it's more than enough room to be satisfied. My only meh is the modern bucket seats for those longer drives to the cottage/ road trips, my back starts to get sore sitting in the same position, my truck I never had an issue with. I also rarely adjust my seating position due to pure laziness so that could very much so factor in. All in all, it's a comfortable ride, I wish the center console was a little bit wider to fit 2 arms comfortable like my center console on my RAM, but then again it's a car. Also it's definitely not as smooth as a larger luxury SUV, you will feel bumps and rough terrain on the road, but that is what's to be expected with most sedans.
      Space - 9/10 - I have the GT model which is a hatchback. I'm giving is a 9/10 comparing it to other mid sized sedans. It's definitely got plenty of space and I appreciate that. I've gone on many snowboarding trips and am able to fit 2 passengers (3 including me) , and only have to put one seat down. With still plenty of extra space left over with everyone's bag and gear in the trunk. The car doesn't feel crowded and tight, and my buddy in the back said he had plenty of room and it was a comfortable ride. Also highly recommend if you have a larger dog, the hatchback space is the literal perfect spot for them.
      Fuel Consumption - 7/10 - It's not bad, but it's also not good. I've had some days where I would give it an 8/10 and other days where I would give it a 6/10. The inline B58 engine is a beast and you can't expect the gas to be as good as a honda civic, but it's also not horrible. My friend owns a mustang GT and I've watched first hand his gas needle making it's way to empty after pushing it hard on the highway, that was bad, so that's why I wont say it's the worst on gas, but certainly not the best. The Eco PRO mode helps a lot to save gas for city driving. My gas tank lasts 6-7 days on average with short work commutes and an odd drive after work. A road trip that takes roughly 1 hr and 40min (260 km both ways) does just about half of my gas tank, a little bit less. The 91 premium gas also sucks b*lls with how quick the gas burns. It's a fun car to drive, but you can obviously find more fuel efficient daily commuters with about 200hp if saving $$ is your concern.
      Exterior Design - 10/10 - It's all personal and I'm biased towards BMW, but I think the 3 series has always looked like the sleekest young man's vehicle. I plan on getting into a 5 series or better when I get into my mid 30's pushing to 40's.
      Interior Features - 8.5/10 - It's got it all minus some thing I wished it had. The panoramic roof, heated steering and heated back seats, harman kardon audio, makes this car a treat to sit inside. However, I do wish they had implemented ventilated seats for those hot summer days (although the pre timed ventilation you can do is great) , a big WTF for me was that my car doesn't have the dash cam recording app the way newer bmw models do. My car has all the camera's just like the new cars but for some reason I can't use my camera's to their full advantage because my technology is older and out dated now. That's one thing I really don't like, they're turning these new BMW's into apple iphone's, and luring you into buying a new car after 4 years because your car lacks the tech of the newer car. For the price people pay for these cars new, they should be updated with the new cars to have all the electronic features as well. Also no remote start because of "outdated software" , so I don't have the luxury of remote starting my car from y phone, but a 2019 3 series can... wtf. lol.
      Reliability - 7.5/10 - If the car didn't have so much tech it would get a 9.5/10 from me. I personally haven't had anything break down on me, but the amount of tech in this car does worry me a little bit, I can totally see why bmw gets it's rep for cars having electronic issues. I can say though that the digital oil stick and engine monitor and the tire monitor are pretty accurate, so I do appreciate that. Aside from that, the B58 engine is very reliable, and will get you through anything.
      Driving in snow - 8/10 - The xDrive is incredible and arguable the best AWD technology at the moment aside from audi's quattro system. The reason why I won't give it a higher score is because of course.. it is a car. So it'll be as good as an AWD sedan can be. If the snow is past ankle level, you're probably going to get stuck... but that being said I;ve seen first hand SUV's getting stuck on bad winter days while a car made it through no problem. So really, it comes down to #1 what kind of winter tires you have on, #2 if your car is true AWD and most importantly #3 how much snow is on the road. The only car's I really see getting through blizzards at ease are pick up trucks with winter tires, but with trucks you also need to put a significant amount of weight in the cab to hold it's ass down from sliding all over the place, which is a lot of work to do and also burns more gas. We've had a BMW X5 that did amazing in the snow as well, so like I said, it comes down to the severity of the weather, and the tires mainly. As for the traction, the car held up nicely on icy and slushy roads, I have winter tires on and I feel very confident pulling turns at higher speeds.
      Maintenance Cost - 5.5/10 - BMW can a fat one for this category. Expect whatever you paid for your old cheaper car to be double price now if not more. They charge you an arm and a leg at BMW. And as much as the warranty will save you from the big engine repairs, that's usually not what you should be worrying about. What you need to get ready for are the check ups that you'd have to do with any car, like brake fluid, brake pads, oil change, spark plugs, cabin filters etc. My highest recommendation is to either learn how to do it yourself and you will save a TON of $$$, or if you're not comfortable doing your own maintenance, to find a trusted mechanic that is experienced with German cars to do all the service work for you. They will order all the new parts and a fraction of what BMW will charge, and you certainly won't get charged $150 CAD an hour for a simple 15 min job that a BMW service tech will claim took an hour to complete. It's a robbery. My car is currently out of warranty, and knock on wood, there hasn't been any difference to when I did have the warranty. I have a family friend mechanic who services my car at a quarter of the cost BMW charges, so for that I am grateful.
      OVERALL - 8.1/10 - Solid car to drive, you get a luxurious mid- sized sports sedan (hatchback), while still getting a great amount of space that you would find in a crossover SUV. Aside from a few features lacking that are found on the newer models, as well as mid-range fuel consumption, this car will be a treat to drive and can very much so be used as a daily driving vehicle. The EcoPro Mode is a great setting to use for those short drives to work & quick cold starts, and the sport mode is plenty of fun for those leisure drives. The interior features and sound system make those short and long drives very enjoyable and pleasuring. The high maintenance costs on BMW can also be easily solved by either DIY techniques or a private mechanic. The xDrive technology really stands out in winter weather and rough terrain, and like I said earlier, unless you're in a large pick up truck, or a larger high up SUV, you won't be losing out on too much when it comes down to getting through heavy snow. When the snow levels get extreme, just simply stay home, if an SUV is getting stuck out there - a car won't be any better! LOL - All in all, a pleasure to drive. And looks beautiful as well.

    $61,000 for a 3 series the size of a honda civic/toyota corolla, lol. I will take whatever 5 series $61k can buy.

      +Pat Johnson yes the price is high to some, but you get many safety features standard plus all of the engineering behind it.

      So near perfect 50/50 weight distribution? 34+ MPG in a car that has 320 HP and does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds? That isn't engineering?

    Driving like a grandmother doesn’t make this review very exciting, when making a review you always have to make a 0 to 60 lunch specially when you review a sport sedan such as this car. Garbage review
