I mean Donnie Yen in a John Wick spinoff makes more sense for me than Sony actually thinking of an Aunt May movie which later became Madame Web.
Donnie could direct all the action scenes himself to save budget. Which he often does for his HK projects anyways lol

His character was very cool at the begining of the movie, how he prepared with gadgets that would make sounds etc. However he never used that later and just became a blind guy that can see somehow.

Well, those people were being stealthy. The other ones later on weren't. That's why he was shooting several times, unlike John who only needed one or two shots. Feel free to rewatch, then you'll see that the Osaka guys did try to be silent.

What the team is forgetting Hong Kong has an amazing movie industry with great directors so I think they can keep the budget to a good level.
There is no way in hell this movie is going to have a massive budget. Chad Stahelski does not need to consult with Jason Blum. You guys are over worrying yourselves.
Best directors for the job: Kenji Tanigaki, Christopher Cowan, Larnell Stovall, Isaac Florentine, Wilson Yip.

A Hong Kong style John Wick universe movie backed by a Hollywood studio starring Donnie Yen could make that money back in China alone if done cheap enough.
All that matters to me is... when it comes out, I will be there.
It's just a Donnie Yen movie in that world, more building of that world would be great. Dosen't even have to mention John. Same way everything in the marvel universe doesn't have to have RDJ in it, but he makes it better
I don’t think this will be a spin off “sequel”? I think this will be the same sort of spin off as “Ballerina”. We’ll probably see Caine and John Wick earlier when they were friends prior Caine losing his eye sight. Caine during some type of mission leading up to him and his deal with the High Table. That would be the way to go.
I absolutely loved Donnie Yen in John Wick 4 but I feel like I have to see how Ballerina is first before I can truly get excited for it, because we haven’t gotten a taste for what the world of John Wick spin-offs is like yet, at least in terms of theatrical stuff, and so Ballerina is really gonna be the tipping point as to whether or not I think this is a good idea, and so I don’t really have an answer for something like this yet
Raging Fire, a Donnie Yen-led cop movie in 2021(limited release due to pandemic) did over $200 mil on a $37 mil budget. I'm sure that this Caine spin-off will be fine.
So we talk about Caine and Ballerina having spin-offs but we continue to ignore the best character to come out of the franchise: Halle Berry's Sofia. There is a hell of a story behind a woman who had to give her daughter to John Wick and have him honor bound to never tell where to find her. You gotta be kidding me. Her fighting looks 100 time better than Ana de Armas and those kick-ass Malinois are the clincher (would love to see Sofia meet them as puppies)!

True, but The Rock is a box office draw. Donnie Yen is going to be a gamble especially this being his first solo outing for the Western audiences. Not hating, I love Donnie and seen most of his films btw :)

I disagree. Being a blockbuster and turning a profit aren’t the same. If they make it for like $30M, they turn a profit. Especially in Asia.

To many martial arts movies with a blind man. It's been done to pieces. Kung Fu, the hundreds of classic Hong Kong movies that I still love today.

John Woo was a legend for his era, I was his biggest fan. But if you look at his films from the past 2 decades with maybe the exception of Red Cliff 1-2 they're pretty abysmal.

While I think this is awesome news, wasn't the entire point of Caine going after Wick so that he could be free with his daughter again? Wasn't Caine retired before the events of 4? Why would he come back to the assassin world again? I hope they give it a good narrative reason.
If we learned anything from the John Wick franchise, it's that once you come out of retirement, you're in it for the long haul

@@jaybling6687 I saw it. If I recall, it seemed as though he was about to be assassinated by the daughter of the owner of the Continental. I was merely pointing out that in the case of John Wick, he got locked into the lifestyle again the moment he decided to come back in the original film. The criminal underworld isn't really something you can just dip your toe in whenever you feel like; you're either in or you're out.

Look....I understand timing and Luck. I mean look at Neesom...Washington...Stallon..even Statham (Meg 1&2 and Beekeeper). Not evey movie has to be a Blockbuster....there is room for everybody at "the table". If a film shows some imagination and some "maverick" vibe. Perhaps the Studios will make some decent popcorn movies for the fans. All we want is a decent escapism movie for 2 hrs. Everything doesn't have to be Titanic or Endgame. Just...give us a reasonable script and a cast of decent characters....and you can have my money. It is obvious that the Marvel/Disney juggernaut is over....sooo, let's get back to basics and manageable budgets.
Donnie Yen is an amazing talent and is great on screen too so all they need to do is make a good film out of it and win win. I mean the character Caine was really awesome and fun in JW so I'd be perfectly happy to see more of him maybe some history etc and lots of cool action! If they get creative with the action like they did with JW in general this could just be AWESOME

I actually didn't like Donnie Yen's character in the movie. In some scenes he's a very capable blind guy, like Daredevil, but in other scenes did is like a regular blind dude who can't find anything. What?

I hate that. If you’re making a movie about Ana de Armas’ character, then focus on her and ONLY her. I don’t want John Wick to overshadow her. This movie is not supposed to be about John Wick, it’s about Ana de Armas’ character.
Maybe an unpopular opinion but I am tired of spin-offs every successful film doesn’t need to expand to be a franchise
