- Hello friends! Welcome or welcome back to my channel!!! In today’s video I’m bringing you along with me as I hunt for mostly houseplant related items at my local thrift store.
I'm always on the lookout for cute planters. My favorites are the vintage ones, but lately, in addition to those, I've been looking for any type of smaller planter for all of my new succulents. I've added quite a few new succulents to my collection and I need planters for them. In the 2-3" size.
Unfortunately I haven't had a whole lot of luck, but I do have a few to share with you along with some plant decor accessories :).
I will share my haul from this thrifting trip, if anything, as well as all of the items I have found throughout the last two months.

Easy, that dischidia hirsuta! I would have grabbed those matching white pedestals at 4:35. I love little plant elevators like those. I love the idea of "most ridiculous" award too. Thrifting can be silly business. Having fun with it is the best way! I have so many stories of the "most ridiculous" things we have found. They still make me smile.

I use diamond drill bits, two different sizes. I found a video on CZcams on this and have done terracotta (which is very easy because its soft, have done ceramics too. If the bottom is unglazed its easy, if glazed it can still be done. I have done probably 50 or more, no breaks. You just have to let the drill do its thing and don't push down too hard. It is very satisfying ❤

I use old tea cup with saucer for my succulents and it’s very pretty just taking care to not overwater
I’ve thought about doing that too!!! I’ve had pretty good luck with no drainage succulents.

That Begonia is beautiful but it's a begonia and I'm not so good with those. The Dischidia is definitely more my style. I really liked that tiny floral planter with saucer, I would have scooped that up too! That koala planter is great, it totally fits your funky style LOL

Holy smokes I had no idea it was so valuable!!!! Mine looks just like the Viking green glass mushrooms 😳. Very cool!!!! I just loved it instantly when I saw it. My favorite color and a mushroom lol. That is a lovely saucer you found. The green mushroom is amazing!!! I d not have either of those plants. Except one tiny begonia that is slowly dying on me and I already have a oya to fill that spot.
I did pick up three new plants at walmart. So far all three are doing well. I did totally repot them removing as much nursery soil as possible and added small pebbles to the soil and lots of perlite and boy did these babies really perk up. Fingers crossed they all do well.

@@ThePinkTrellis Yes I did get a small one and it was kind of spendy. About what a person would pay online but oh well it will grow and be gorgeous. I also bought a White Wizard and Monstera Standeyana Variegated. It has been several days now and all look better than when I brought them home. I think they were pretty dry.

I definitely like the pagonia white ice. But just because of the colorful leaves and how pretty dark pink they are on the back. Short videos are definitely better than no videos and I really like this.
One I am so glad you decided to keep the koala planter. I would have I am surprised. You did not buy the catbecause I would have. And I'm surprised that you did not buy The Delft blue wooden shoe. It would have been perfect for a secular e. N. T.😊😊😊

I hardly ever find good planters at the one thrift store in the Woodland Park area of Colorado... i would think that Boulder has a lot of possible donaters. I don't frequent thrift stores...like you..you're a professional...love the Koala bear planter...not ridiculous 😊
Lately I haven’t had much luck finding planters I want to bring home with me. I’m hoping that changes soon. The koala is one of my favorite finds to date!!!
I think that begonia is so beautiful! I have never had luck with them though in my area (AZ) so i'd have to choose the hoya but I think the begonia is way prettier!
The white ice in particular is a real stunner. Somehow I haven’t had much issue keeping them healthy and happy. I did learn by trial and error that they want to be watered twice a week though. Previously I was just watering once a week. We get pretty dry here too but these that I have, at least, can tolerate it. Thank you!!! 💚💚💚
I love the begonias and Gesneriads, however I am scared to try a begonia without a grow tent or a small table top greenhouse. I like the Begonia White Ice. I can’t get into Dischidia, they make me think they’re a lesser knock-off to a Hoya. Although I have been tempted by the Dischidia Hirsuta, because it is supposed to have a lovely flower. I have a ton of Harmony’s begonias and Harmony’s African violets on my Etsy collection wish list. Those Harmony varieties are so beautiful. It would be nice if you had a how to video on drilling a hole in a pot. It would be great to have a video on an unboxing of new Harmony variety plants.
Hi Paul!!!! Ok you have me looking at Harmony’s plants now lol. I want to read more about them but I did find an Etsy shop that sells Harmony’s begonias and African violets and I have 5 plants in my cart lol. I’ve been wanting to add more AVs to my collection and my interest in begonias has recently gotten stronger so you may just get your unboxing wish💚💚💚. This place has great prices, and free shipping with heat pack included. Can’t beat that!!!!

That begonia is stunning! That's my vote.
I thought the sunflower pot was super pretty. I think it actually came with a lid by the looks of the top of the pot. So not really a planter but could certainly be used as one.
Dischidia wins barely because I really enjoy begonias but it looks like a Hoya and right now they are my obsession

My vote is for the White ice. I’ve recently gotten into Begonia and the strap leaf Anthurium. I now have all three of the strap leaf Anthurium I was after (Bakeri, Pallidiflorum and Vittarifolium). I have a Begonia Maculata that’s just giving me a time but I’m not giving up… it was a 1 leaf unrooted cutting so patience is key I think? and I’m on the hunt for an Amphioxus (Apologies if I misspelled that) but no one sells them locally and I’m scared to have one shipped. Hi!!! Thank you!!! So far I’ve started having a little bit better luck in the plant section of the thrifts. Hopefully my luck continues the rest of the month🤞. I have some amphioxus babies in the grow tent and they are sooo slow growing. I’m not sure what is up with that. They are beautiful though. Not great shippers in my experience. Mine arrived in pieces, but it was salvageable. Just not pretty on arrival lol. If you do decide to order online, as long as you have some healthy stems you are good to go. It will grow back. I really want to try a begonia maculata but i dont want to have in cabinet or anything special so im unsure if i should or not….
I don’t think they require high humidity. Just make sure it doesn’t dry out too much.
