I would have bought the stag head drink set. I don’t drink, so I would discard the bar tools and use the stand to display vintage Christmas ornaments. It would look amazing!

I love the basket, but I love anything basket weave. Julie's Design and Signs always picks up spool of thread. She decorates with them and they're so cute.

That little wooden box looks like a salt box . My grandparents house had one hanging near the stove .they date to when salt was sold in papper bags and they were conveniently placed to add a pinch of salt .❤

I have seen salt boxes that look just like that but they were not made out of wood they just set it on the back of the stove and reach in and get a pinch and salt the food when they’re cooking

I purchased a scarf and I use it as a table runner in the fall.
I lined my picnic basket with the liner just smaller than the interior of the basket so that when you fill the basket with whatever, there won't be any weight on the bottom of the basket it will be on the lining,. Hope this makes sense.

I'm finally having cataract surgery in July and looking forward to coming to Alvin for a couple of weeks. I hope to see you. I plan on a day trip to Houston's GW's, but I will probably spend more time in Galveston. You have a great eye and very creative. Happy shopping and happy Memorial Day weekend.

I have the Longaberger picnic basket. If it is a longaberger the yr and initials of the maker are on the bottom. Mine was made in 1993. I bought it new. I bought the plastic protector and red and white fabric liner. I have a.longaberger recipe box withe wooden lid and plastic protector and garden splendid liner. My basket was made in 1997. They were expensive. I thrift them all the time and have them all over the house now. I probably have 30 to 40. I went thrifting today. Brings me happiness😌

Hey there Julie...I have a Vintage Clear Glass Bowl that is currently my Centerpiece on my dining room table...it's full of Murano Glass fruits and Vegetables. They are beautiful. My husband was helping a man clean out a house a couple years back and he was going to throw it all in the fire he had built. I'm so happy my Honey brought them home.
Love the basket...we all have imperfections...cracks, breaks, stories, history.. and as for me...several wrinkles that no longer iron out, but..we still have value to those who love us...just like the basket.

I had that recipe box in the early 80's mine also had the little nails to hold the cover on ( the recipe box was older then ) , the cover would slide off easily . I also have a old picnic basket ,(I believe I bought it for $3.99 ) like that , that I picked up like 10 years ago , I love it , I put plastic plates , glasses , bowls and silverware in it , so all I have to do is wash them put food in the basket and go as well as bringing my throw blankets for picnics

I really love the basket and wow what a deal!! I've been looking for one forever but when I do they are far and few and more than I want to spend. My grandma had one she brought to the family reunion every year. My aunt ended up with it. I thought for sure you hauled that scarf with the beautiful green. The color was perfect!! That 1970's recipe box with the eagle is awesome! I do love the little pillow. Yes, paint that wall white and use the sheers. I think that would look great. Homer L stuff is pricey and well made. Great picnic basket for sure. You did great!

Hi Julie. That vintage picnic basket was a steal! One of the reasons I like you so much is you think like I do. You think about the imperfections being just lovingly used and the history behind it. That's like me. The basket has had a mysterious life of being used. I hope I explained that well. Anyway, I am thrilled you found it because the tradition of it being lovingly used will continue with someone( you ) who truly loves and appreciates it. Hi Julie, I hope you and your family are well. My mom had a canister set when I was young that matched the recipe box. I recently was given a bread box from the same set. (You would love it) They all have eagle! Did you know that Homer Laughlin makes Fiesta ware? It is almost all lead free, this is why I buy it. Love and blessings to your precious family.
Oh how fun! And I just read another comment that said that about fiesta ware. How interesting.
The box with the Eagle on it is actually called a " salt pig". My Nan had one too but just a pine box, no eagle. Its an old fashioned thing.

Hello Julie.. wonderful thrift haul!! The recipe box is amazing..My Grandma Bea had the wooden square cookie jar to match that piece . It had the eagle on the front just like it..she always had cookies in it , and my favorites were the iced lemon cookies from the store and the windmill cookies with sliced almonds. Oh how I love those memories. I now wonder if she had the recipe box to and i just didnt notice it as a child . God Bless and have a wonderful weekend .

YOU CAN USE LEMON ON THE EAGLE TO CLEAN IT TO MAKE IT SHINE , THEN ANTIQ IT WITH A LITTLE BLACK PAINT MIX WITH WATER DAP IT ON AND THEN WIPE IT OFF FOR A STAIN LOOK

Hey Julie. The basket was a great find. I liked the exercise mat, the red linen at 2:57 and the basket at 10:30. I can related to what your daughter is going through. My niece and her family live with me and the 2 year old loves spoons so he's always running off with them. I've started using plastic spoons to eat my breakfast with so that it's not a big deal if it gets misplaced. Hope you and yours have a great holiday weekend!
