    Hey! New subscriber here. I just got my SS climbing sticks from latitude, and went down the CZcams rabbit hole and your channel was the first to pop up. Been watching videos all weekend. Great stuff. Really appreciate how you bring the information to the viewer. Keep on doing what your doing. Thanks!

    I’ve only hunted out of a saddle for two seasons. It’s kinda cool to see I have been doing these hacks since my first season. I guess my tinkering during the off season paid off

    While I am designing some tree Hooks for selling, my overall system is a Hack. My Hunting walking stick is a 4---12 foot extension pole which allows me to hang my heavy duty tree hook on any good branch in 20 foot reach for me, and well you saddle guys know how to use a step on a rope man 1, if not I'll be doing a demo soon. Climb a tree & Hunt all in 1 trip quiet as a spider.

    Why don’t you climb with your tether rope? I do and don’t use LR except to go around limb. Girth hitching tether a must.

  • @AsocPaladin0016
    @AsocPaladin0016 Před měsícem +2

    Not going to lie, for tip 3, I’m generally that guy who free climbs to get past the branch. I like the idea of using the tether as a second linemen belt. Will that have any issues with wear if you girth hitch it?

    • @glennflake5732
      @glennflake5732 Před měsícem

      @@AsocPaladin0016 just climb with your tether no need for alignment belt, except to go around a limb? Much safer than lineman’s belt to climb. When you get to your top step and platform, you’re already all set
      No fumbling to pull out a tether and takeoff and start your LR. No brainer!

    i like to bring a seat cushion in my pack. it can be attached to the extra rope hanging off and creates a nice pad for u to rest your knees on while doing long saddle hunts.

    • @NextStepOutdoors
      @NextStepOutdoors  Před 27 dny

      That’s a good idea! I wear knee pads normally. A seat pad would be handy though especially if you are like me and end up hunting from the ground some too unexpectedly. Would help in both cases.

    • @NextStepOutdoors
      @NextStepOutdoors  Před měsícem +1

      Someone else recommended that as well. Seems like a good cheap solution. Only thing I’d be worried about is just being a bit awkward shape with the handle. Could probably cut it off or maybe it’s not an issue.

    Thoughts on pnuma gunnison hoodie compared to first lite furnace.

      Gunnison is probably just a bit lighter than the furnace but I think it’s more durable. The furnace was awesome but felt like something I’d want to wear lounging around the house bc it was so soft 🤣

      That’s great! Whatever works for you! I see it as a cost savings. The upfront investment is a lot (although I’d look at the used market) and then one saddle setup can enable you to hunt anywhere you want with a single set up.

  • @chasem21

      @NextStepOutdoors a celebrity has to tell the followers it's cool. I have been doing what is now called saddle hunting for at least 30 years now. Back then, I could use spikes. I climbed with the spikes and a tether to a homemade harness. They outlawed spikes on public land, and I had to adapt. The 2 tether was a natural progression from spikes. It's actually better than spikes now that the system is fully developed.

      @NextStepOutdoors if you have a 30 foot rappel rope and a saddle, you have most of what you need to 2 tether climb, go around limbs, and rappel.

    Five hacks we've never heard of? Are you serious? There is NOTHING new in this video that hasnt been covered in multiple videos. Good hacks just a tad disingenuous to state these are hacks you came up with. And 5 seasons is hardly a long time in saddle hunting?

      For starters, I don’t recall saying I came up with any of these hacks. Based on the other 50 comments, I think there was some solid value delivered in this video. Sorry you are so advanced and know everything already. To your point about 5 years not being a long time, to the 99% of the hunting population who has never saddle hunted, that is a very long time.
