- High winding stick shift drag racing, nothing beats it! The 14th Annual Clemmons Concrete Stick Shift Nationals at Farmington Dragway, NC did not disappoint. It gives me an opportunity to step outside my class racing world but still see a handful of class cars competing at a really cool $10,000 to win event. Gerry Waddell's Modified Super Stock SS/FM Nova caught my eye, and ears, and I wanted to get a closer look.

High RPMs and dry hops, just like the old modified eliminator days, what more could you ask for!
Never get tired of hearing a small cube screamer.
👍👉
Modified Production, it’s just the best !
Thanks for covering this car and event !
Nothing like a small block Chevy revving to the Moon, dry hops and all
The dry hop caught me off guard haha it was great
He even built that 277ci. that was the most popular size engine in the late 70's to late 80's for modified eliminator / production. I love to see this.
I love these small-cube Chevy SB engines. Back in the 70's & early 80's at the Baileyton Good Time Drag strip ( 1/8th mile ) in north Alabama, there was this cat who had a black late 50's Vette running a 301 cu. in. screamer. I watched him run for at least 6 yrs, and absolutely nothing could touch him. I remember one night during semi-finals, he missed a gear and STILL drove around the other car to win. On that rough track ( it was fairly rough back then ), he played hell keeping it in the groove all the way down. Unless he broke something, he always won the event in his class. That little engine in that old Vette was a monster.
Been to the Good Time Strip a few times
👍👍
@@douglascooper1987 Like the name implies, we used to have a lot of good times there. But I haven't been back there since 1984 I think, when I moved back to east/central Florida.
Man.means business! 😊😊😊😊
Stick Shifts for Life For Life Stick Shifts ---FOREVER!
First factory small block the chevy 265ci. Punched to 277ci punch & stroked to 277 ci. Screaming the whole 1/4 mile.
Love that launch! Love small blocks.
Small Cubes, Heavy Flywheel, and 3 Pedals, Means FUN‼️😁
Very cool
Now this is drag racing
My old 283 screamed.
Nice !
They are fun to watch, but running after those guys is hell. They tear the starting line all to hell lol
I still have my 215 cui Olds all aluminum engine.
love love love those screaming small blocks. any info on that fox at the end? he was haul'in az.
I believe the Foxbody at the end used to run a 427W combo.
That's my son in the mustang. That motor is a 372 SBF. We turn that one 10k too. It HAS had a 418 in it...
SoooooooooSICK!!!!!!
Did he try not to break out at the line?
What stroke is it , if you dont mind me asking , i have some very nice SB2.2 drag race heads for the near future .
277 using a 4.03 bore would be about 2.7 so that is probably what he is running. A little less if it is 4.06 bore. Nice stroke if you want to run those kind of rpms.
Drag racing way it should be.. no box crap there
