    I had a 9-year-old student who had a real stay-in-bed-mom, I mean, this girl would walk 30 minutes to school just because she wanted to be there, and her mom would never have food in the house. She was so hungry one morning and saw a bag of gummy bears on the counter, and she ate the whole bag. She WALKED to school high af, and collapsed when she got to her classroom. She was in the hospital for a lot longer than you’d expect. Parents can be so shitty.

      People who don't know the smell or the taste wouldn't know what it is. I didn't have any experience with it before dating a pothead in my thirties, lol. My first thoughts about it was that gosh, this herb smells delicious! Not the smoke, but the herb itself. If there was perfume with that smell, I'd wear it :D So if I was someone oblivious, this would NOT stop me from eating the gummies, quite the opposite, I'd be like what is this lovely smell, yum-yum :D I don't like the effects of it though, I get paranoid. I just really enjoy sniffing it :D Now I am really good at detecting the smell tho. Whereas a relative who is a retired police officer(!), turned out to be totally oblivious :D We were walking in the city center and I pointed out that these guys in front of us smell like weed, and he was like ohh, so that's the smell :D (This wasn't snitching, as he was retired and is not actually against herbal stuff or acid, as he's a big fan of the American hippie culture, as someone who had lived in oppressive Soviet union in his youth - so he wouldn't snitch on a pothead :D ... he even told me that if I ever have weed, he'd like to try)

      @@vihmaussivenitaja i don't necessarily agree with that. as a stoner i personally think that w33d smells amazing, but to the average person it is usually strong and unpleasant. the smell comes from volatile sulfurs which is the same chemical that makes skunk spray smell so bad. thats why some people say "why does it smell like skunk in here?" well its because it kind of does smell like skunk. anyway, my point is that i severely doubt that if the gummies did have a smell that the child would be attracted to it.

      EDIT: Im not saying candy medicine is bad, I'm saying that not being responsible about your candy medicine when you have children is bad.
      Just like with guns, have your candy meds but be responsible and keep it from your kids. Maybe talk to your kids about it and help them understand that they could get sick or die if they ate it.

      Also an interesting fact - so far as is known, no one has ever died from an LSD overdose. Scientists have an idea of what a theoretical lethal dose is, but it's never been confirmed. There was a published paper about a woman a few years ago who was attempting to buy cocaine but received pure powdered LSD instead and, dosing it like cocaine, ended up snorting an unimaginably high dose. Despite repeated vomiting, she described herself as being "pleasantly high" for many hours and did not require hospitalization. Her roommate confirmed a lot of the details there.

      But speaking of mental health issues, I’ve known people who should never go near it, because of the nature of their mental conditions.

But we should also remove the stigma of cannabis use when used in a responsible way (hiding gummies in a regular bag is not responsible though). But if he was just allowed to have a small amount of edibles after a hard days work (better than having a 6 pack every day imo) and not have to hide it from his wife and would be able to store responsibly this could all be avoided.

It's been beneficial for the myoclonic jerks I end up getting from being on the epilepsy drugs (Keppra 1000 mg, 2x daily; Lamictal 500mg, 2x daily). Anecdotal? Yes, but it does work. It will reach a stage where they will not get more than 2-4 hours without it, then they will go through a month of waking up at 2 am drenched in sweat. This persists for about 3 weeks to a month until your body starts to regulate itself, but depending on what you have to do during the day, this can be LITERAL TORTURE, as the need for sleep creeps in constantly and affects your judgment and thinking.
      I'm a former illegal grower in Canada. I made my living for quite a few years, and having that much around means you ingest a considerable amount on a daily basis. That and cigarettes gave me lung issues, so I don't smoke anything anymore, but edibles keep me asleep. Periodically I clean up and gut out the month of sleeplessness, but it's one of the hardest things I've ever done. Guy gave me a bag of edibles, 20 gummies equal to 400mg total. I was tired after work Sunday night last week and ate the entire bag in one chomp. The following 4 hours were a living hell and for fear of doing anything stupid (other than that) I laid in bed and used the effects of what I felt to stay asleep. That lasted just about 2 days. I finally woke up and looked around. Never doing that again. Potheads can keep their gummies and their weed.
    Edit: Upon reading comments of similar experiences, I am fortunate enough that I actually keep 3 gallons of water in my fridge at all times so when I started feeling my skin crawl and senses shift, I grabbed a gallon, went back to bed, and put the gallon next to me. Every time I woke up I’d chug the gallon, and throughout the course of the process I drank 2 gallons (with no activity besides sleeping) so that was roughly 1gal a day on an OD

      OOH you should look into the other cannabinoids. there are over 250 in our plant, and its the varying balances of these along with the terpenes in the plant that make each batch unique. however once you learn this strain names become mostly meaningless all that matters are the chemicals in the batch.

    • @TheOriginalFaxon
      @TheOriginalFaxon Před rokem +4

      Dr Bernard does good research. I WAS aware of all these finer details previously, being that I'm heavily researched into the effects of cannabis due to my past work in the industry producing these exact products from scratch. I was not up on the most recent research regarding how to handle ingestion in small kids and younger adolescents (intentional consumption or otherwise), but I can confirm that everything regarding how THC is metabolized in the body is 100% accurate, though there is still some disagreement as to just how much more potent 11-hydroxy THC is. While the chemical itself may be almost 6 times more potent (this is new info to me), you may not get that result in practice, because of the bioavailability of THC itself being highly dependent on how much you have eaten recently and what you ate, plus what the carrier agent for the THC was, since it needs a fat carrier oil to absorb at its full bioavailability. This means that in practice, you typically see more like a 2-3 fold increase in potency. First pass metabolism in this instance accounts for the production of 11-hydroxy THC, but I remember seeing something years ago about there being another metabolic pathway that produces a non-psychoactive end product, which could result for part of this potency drop as well, even after accounting for absorption rates. Regardless, this is a fantastic video, and I look forward to more further research on this subject, as there's still so much we have to learn about this wonderful plant
      edit: also, it's worth noting that when you smoke or vaporize cannabinoids for inhalation, you will still experience some of the 11-hydroxy THC effect. This is why most people who have smoked long enough, report that they tend to get tired later on after smoking. If you want to get the full benefits of 11-hydroxy THC for sleep for instance, you need to consume far enough in advance that whatever you smoked gets converted in time for you to go to bed, otherwise you may find your insomnia not fully knocked out, should that be your goal

    It's why I don't eatsweets or mushrooms at my friends house. He really liked dehydrated vegetable chips, so, when I found a small bowl with sliced mushrooms I didn't suspect anything.
    After polishing the entire thing off I went to his fridge and ate two brownies with some milk. He eventually noticed that about 30 minutes later, we were playing Minecraft. I was worried about the mushrooms when he told me, but he was worried about the brownies. Apparently, if you wanted toget high you should eat 1 eight of one. Not two. The mushrooms were a lot milder, he informed me.
    Oh well, when the effects begun he had to help me drink water. 😂
