My best friend of many years in the US is from Paraguay. She's told me all about in and sent pictures over the years from her visits back there, but your tour and history lessons have really helped understand it better. The people seem very friendly, hospitable and proud to share their heritage.
Guaran i is pronounced (wah-rah-nee), with the accent on the last i. The lace work is called ñandu ti (nyan du tee) accent on the last syllable. Embroidery is called a' ho po'i. (ah-oh po ee) accent on the last i again.
Welcome to Paraguay! Thanks for showing my country ❤️
Visiting this summer - where should I check out?
I can't believe Paraguqy fought against 3 countries alone in the past & lost 90% of it's military men & 50 % of all people !!! So sad & so brave !! 💔💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🇵🇾💞
@@tylerstravelsandmore I recommend you to visit Salto Cristal (Ybycui), Encarnación, Ciudad del Este, Asunción, Paraguarí. Welcome and have fun!
@@spark_6710 they were the bravest! ❤️🥺🇵🇾
@gigifarinha7523 I agree !!! Unbelievable. Shocking !!! So- sad !! Nobody came to aid them . Pretty upsetting ! Thank you so much for your reply !!👍👍 I'd love to visit there someday !!! Beautiful people in Paraguay 🇵🇾❤️💖 Just one thing I can't stand is ,I guess bullfighting is still going there very sadly !! But,I'd still go to Paraguay 🇵🇾 someday soon & see the enormous dam & eat their famous cake ...corn bread 🍞? They look delicious 😋 Hoping it'll happen in the next several years ! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️🇵🇾💕💞
I spent 4 weeks driving around Paraguay back in February and it was beautiful my favorite store was biggies, and it does feel very safe in comparison to Lima peru. I definitely want to go back some time
Paraguaya this Latino residing in New York City is excited to come visit you / Que ganas de conocerte Paraguay 🇵🇾 y países vecinos
You seem like a great guest in my country! You seem very knowledgeable and so appreciative. Good stuff man! I’m sure Paraguayos you ran in to were pleased to meet you.
I really like the way you represent the country and its history, so many interessant facts, I never knew. Thank you very much😊
Very interesting and informative filming of a country I knew vey little of until watching your film. I think Paraguay looks a lovely country.
Superior video to any other I've seen on Paraguay. Excellent presentation. For the first time I have a much better idea of Asunción, the people of Paraguay and the history of this nation. Too bad you don't have a part two and three!
Paraguay, un país increíble!
Hi man, i like to see you doing your own tour. That's the daily lunch for the Paraguayan working class. If your still in here you can try the other tradicional food. We have a festival called "Fiesta de San Juan", it's happening during the week (23 of June is the date). You should try mbeju, chipa and sopa Paraguaya (this one is a solid soup) and chipa guasu.
I think you should visit the countryside sometime, the nature and landscapes are beautiful. The Paraguay experience is not about shows or manmade impresive buildings, it's about the kind people and beautiful nature, so it depends on the turist eyes to see the beauty.
Saludos desde Paraguay, have a nice journey!
wished I was still there to see it! But i have tried all of those things on my tiktok!
I'm visiting in summer, which countryside places should I check out?
You summed it up so well! I went on exchange for a year to PY in 2002. I haven't been back in about 13 years and it's killing me! The people are so beautiful. If people want the true South American experience, go there!
Showed this to my students and it went really well, keep the videos coming!
Great! What class are you teaching
Thanks you visiting my country!, we barely get any tourist who talk about Paraguay in videos and stuff.
Love your video, hope you got a good time in Paraguay
loved my time there!
I'm going in the summer - what should I check out?
It's very nice. If it's like this then it's much more to do in order to have more visitors.
I hope to visit Asuncion. I have been hearing good stories about Paraguay.
Wao! I am very impressed with the research well spoken in this video, we don´t see that level of historical context on other vloggers that visit us, thank you so much, great video welcome anytime.
11:53 We don't call those "mate", that's called "tereré" which is a cold refreshing drink instead of hot.
We also drink mate but only in the mornings when we wake up, or at night, or when it's cold.
I tried that in cafe de aca. Very good!
Just to add:
- Hot máte caliente or ka'ay in Guaraní, I particularly drink it everyday in the early hours of the madrugada/dawn.
- Cold tereré mixed with yuyos/herbs/pohã ñaná/hierbas medicinales like mint, cedrón, burrito, sarsaparilla, etc., we start drinking it around 8-10 am but not before eating some breakfast/brunch or tereré rupá (bed/base for tereré).
- And well, there's also cocido quemado (toasted? yerba máte with sugar) which is best than coffe (sorry not sorry 😁), we drink this instead of ka'ay/máte sometimes.
Thanks for introducing me to Assocsion Paraguay reminds me a lot like Asmera,Eritrea. This country was colonized by the Italians for a long while the streets, Buildings, side walks.... they have many similarities.
Really nice video, I liked that you try to show the normal life and streets.
Nice video and pleased to see the areas you walked seemed pretty safe. I was thinking of traveling to Paraguay but seen and read a few stories that it is not very safe. Best wishes for you and your channel !!!!!
Id suggest visiting/experiencing:
- financial center (shopping del sol/paseo la galería areas)
- night life (there are traditional bars in downtown and modern/fancier ones in carmelitas/villa morra neighborhood)
- big farmers market style area (supermercado 4)
Please give me all the favorite bits for Paraguay!
I'm interested paraguay citizenship good pls inform me.
Yoooo what else? 👀
Good job summarizing Asuncion and its history. It's a unique place 🇵🇾

Nice tour, lots of info... thanks!
You have a very smooth and digestible cadence in the way you articulate culture/history.
Nice tour! 👌🏼

Great video! Visiting next week, hope the weather stays good!

Wow, thank you!
Well done, off the beaten track. I traveled a bit in Paraguay years back. I have tried to convince my Brazilian wife to consider py for retirement, but she's not so keen, yet. Thanks for your time. Health and luck
Genial!
Amazing
Good tour 😊 I maybe moving there in2023!
Paraguay is awesome!
That food market seemed so cozy - all those little kitchenettes
That tripe soup looks great.
Saludos amigos
I lived in Paraguay for 2 years and still own a house that I want to sell. It is a 2-story, 4-bedroom house that is not far from the airport. I can provide a link to the Clasipar advertisement I have. Asking $115K USD. I am in the USA, but lived in Paraguay for 2 years. I had to return due to business concerns. I miss Paraguay. Good memories there.
Nice to see the Dutch flag everywhere!
Going on December to stay for a whole month!!hope to love it!
What about night Life?
Are there crocs in the river?
Best best country to retire. Asuncion here we come!
I spent a few hours in Paraguay in January '92 whilst touring the Itaipú Dam. I remember Paraguayan natives trying to see me musical condoms. I didn't buy any. However, I did buy a nice calfskin duffle bag that lasted for many years.
HOOOOOOOOOLA MICHITO, BIENVENIDO A MI PAIS 😀, Hiiiii MY KITTEN, WELCOME TO MY COUNTRY 😎🤩😃😃
do you have any map with the dangerous place marked somehow?
That bowl of mostly-tripe made my mouth water!
Amazing!
@@TalesFromTheRoad Yah man, it reminds me of a favorite dish I grew up with in southeast Nigeria... Difference being we rarely had more than 2-3 small pieces of tripe in the soup! 😅
Thank you very much for the video did you leave in Paraguay asunción
Gratitude
Vamos Paraguay
Super video brother. I'm interested paraguay citizenship good?
I'm paraguayan and you chose the heaviest thing on the menu, nor would I eat that. The most popular typical food is not that, they gave you a unusual recommendation 😂
Keep it heavy!
What should tourists eat in Paraguay?
"not a lot of sketchballs" lol
What camera did you use for this trip to Paraguay?
Though not 100% accurate I appreciate your research and loved seeing my country through your eyes.
thanks for watching!
❤❤❤
What a nice likeable guy
What was the desert?
Weldon💖🇵🇰
Paraguay has a problem with the banking system. Once you bring your money to paraguay, the banks don't let you transfer the money out. So if your thinking about moving to Paraguay be aware of the possiblilty that your money stays here forever.
Where'd you get the sweet flat? Booking?
airbnb
I'm moving there in a few years I'm sick of Canada
See you down there. (U.S.)
Anyone move down yet? I’m also trying to research a place to flee too from Canada.
❤️❤️💯🇵🇾
You miss the paraguayan soup and the chipa, next time dip your tortilla on your caldo ava 😊
Beutiful
I never seen videos on that country
Im from Paraguay my parents are im gonna retire there all my 200+ family members live there so i need to be there
"Gamey" for the tripe.
You show today the old downtown Asuncion. Please also show the best part of the city around Shopping del Sol and residential neighborhoods where you will see beautiful houses and tropical vegetation.
Thanks for showing our country. You looks like a very nice person. I wish you the best.
Hola. Soy paraguaya. XD
You forgot to mention,Italians !! Argentines are mostly Italian descendants. 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Please tell me the $30.00 a night place
Tripe: nah my guy. Pass on that one.
Trivia: was cannabis legalized in Paraguay, or in Uraguay? We legalized it here in Canada 5 years ago. No hassles yet, but price is high and quality is low..
Thanks! Definitely not a Mexico City! But has an Interesting history! Very different from Uruguay which is middle class and boring to death!
I am from California and I was in Asuncion back in 1980 to stay with my high school classmate and her family. I was able to meet Presidente Strossner when he came to watch a soccer match at a Club. I remember how nice the people and how the city was so clean. Of course there were alot of military and police around.I was surprised to see after watching your video, the shacks have moved in the City. Back when I was there, all the poor people lived down along the river. Like the rest of the world, there is so much dirty, lazy and free loading people trying to mix in with clean, hard working people. It's a shame.
Thank you for the video and your video brought back memories on how much food you can get for not too expensive $$$.
Thank you again and be safe in your travel journey's on the road.
In Asunción how much is rent for a Studio or small 1 bedroom apartment? Nothing fancy… In USD 💵
I know someone who lives there in a decent 2 bedroom (plus utility room) 2 bathroom and a nice balcony for $500 a month
Uh, the maps you chose are what ifs, paraguay's size irl was much smaller before the triple alliance, bigger than now but smaller than those maps.
QUESTION: How fast is the internet in Paraguay?
And it depends on the company and the place, I live in a small city and I have 4G broadband Internet at 120 mbps, however mobile Internet in remote places can be bad even so you can hire companies and they give you high speed cable Internet
@@eltecnico9541 Cool, Thanks. How fast is the cable internet there?...like in the US, 30mb or faster?
@@eltecnico9541 Is there a maximum of 4G you can use per month, and then it get slowed to 2G or less?
@@michaelsmith5463 The cable Internet that I use is 120 mbps which is 15 mb per second and up to 1000 mbps which is 125 mb per second is also available in the country which is the maximum speed that can be found in the country. In the town and the countryside you can also hire high-speed cable Internet, also a satellite option
@@michaelsmith5463 Standard mobile internet is 4G and can slow down to 3G if you are in some parts of the countryside. If you are far from cities or towns, what happens is that the Internet is cut in some places
Bro. Brazil has 60 million Afro-Portuguese
Crime is out of control in Brasil 😢
Any worries about using your phone on the street?
Skid row in the middle of LA looks worse
Those people in the shacks still live MUCH better than the people sleeping in parks and sidewalks in your country. The U.S.
Can I ask your level of Spanish proficiency? Paraguay obviously would be harder to navigate than more cosmopolitan cities like Rio and B.A.
I’m probably intermediate. I’d you’re around there all Latin America is fine
Cierto la ereaa heuke la chipa sopa ha la terere oimapa
19:27 strange to walk to the capital? No that’s how it’s supposed to be.
"Poopy. But good." Dude, you're not selling it right.
not going to lie but it looks like it doesn't have much that is why it ss the least visited there are many other countries beautiful countries to visit
Is “Rustic Comfort Food” the foodie phrase for (formerly dreaded) Peasant Dish? Which btw is full of the collagen that keeps skin, hair and soft tissues of those Peasants so youthful. It’s entirely possible, the pungent-funk could be from fluids that should’ve been rendered Out of the organ in preparation for cooking. . . . Lotta caustic bio-chem goings-on in some parts.
