Great video! And yes using whole marshmallow root will make it much thicker and could help with people with courser hair like 4c_like myself. When I saw you with the power I was like great less work! But it didn't gave the same thickness when boiled :( plus I'm going to try it with a socking thanks for the idea to get as much out as possible so glad I saw your video :)))

I hope it works out for you!! You have to really let it boil and play with it a few times to get the right consistency! That's the key :-) let me know if you try again!

Your video is a great presentation. I couldn't find the actual marshmallow root but did find the capsules. I wasn't too sure how much of the capsules to use so i made a small batch first. I used 2 capsules, 1/8 cup of flaxseed and 1 cup water. Umm it was thick and gave it a serious hold so maybe more water next time or 1 capsule of marshmallow root.

Thank you! Yea, the hold varies from head to head. My hair required serious hold for my W&G to last a little longer. I'm glad you found something that works well for you!

Hey this is a great video. I am curious why you can't cook them in the same pot at one time

      I wanted to also know

I suppose you can try. I did them separately because I wanted better control of the consistency between the two. Marshmellow root takes a little longer to boil than flaxseed. Sorry for the late reply!!

I noticed that marshmallow root and flax seed gel forms white specks in it when refrigerated. Has anyone else had this occur?

I haven't noticed that. What are you using to hold the contents?

Wearing Her Crown 👑 whoops! I stored it in plastic containers.
However I now use glass mason jars.

once it forms white specks it's time to throw it out. It does spoil fast unfortunately.

I use an all natural preservative called Leucidal Liquid Complete- add it at 2% to your concoction to extend the shelf life and save yourself a lot of work. It is also great for maintaining moisture as it’s a natural humectant and good for skin & hair. I loved this formula for my baby girl’s frizzy fly always!

Marshmallow root is optional. The gel is just as effective without :-)

This is late, but slippery elm behaves almost exactly like marshmallow root.

Will this cause flakes and whiteness, how long does it last?

    • @WearingHerCrown

I have only experienced a little dry flake but it can just be brushed off. I only mix with shea butter now. But in the fridge is should last at least 7 days, you can tell when it spoils, your NOSE will know
