1972 I made custom grips to tame a 45-70 revolver a buddy owned. Kwila heartwood, beautiful red magogany from New Guinea. I carved and fitted exactly to his right hand. Coated 5 times with clear polyurethane lacquer, scraped between each coat to fill the grain , then 4 coats rubbed Birchwood Casey Gun Stock Finnish.

I’ve shot 45-70 out of a Henry, I cannot imagine shooting that round out of a freakin revolver.... what is wrong with people
It's really not that much worse than a hot .44 Magnum, the 7.5" barrel BFR weighs 4.3 lbs and the grips absorb a lot of recoil. My 4" .500 S&W had easily double the recoil with a 325gr bullet at 1200 fps as my BFR does with a 405gr bullet at 1200 fps.
