In today's video we Woodturn this spectacular piece that's been hanging around in my shop for a while. It looks to me like the Arctic Glacier. This is a tough decision as to what this will become, but in the end it had to be this . Hope you enjoy this one!

Hey Nick thanks for another great video I was wondering if it is possible to mix colors of resin by using a turkey baster or even a syringe to inject a color into a color thank you so much for the beautiful piece you made on this episode
That turned out amazing
So digging the new style... very jewleryish
@@BrockGrimes m
"Now you may be thinking... Nick, what are you doing?"
".... I don't know"
It almost looks like you've polished a naturally formed giant crystal and just drilled out the middle but it looks lovely 😍 😊
Right, awesome work with the polish on that one. 👏
I was about to say the same thing. But I will comment on yours as you got it on the nose 🐽🙃🙃🙃😄😄
I was thinking the same thing 👍🏻❤
Yes. I was thinking it kind of looks like something and you have just hit it on the head. Thats exactly what it looks like
Thanks
I am a 60 year old "newbie" at wood and resin turning, and I have to say what you created there was wonderful. You give me such great ideas. I also have to say that I love your zany antics, it really makes the videos "that much more" interesting. Keep up the great work and entertainment. Looking forward to your next video.
i love how you always wanna make a vase, but the comment section is like "THAT'S A MUG MATE, LET ME HAVE IT TO DRINK" i really love the funky uneven "rock" design, not everything has to be round.
Bring on the Waffling......... and if that is food safe, that would make a great beer mug
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT!
I thought that same! Would be a great tankard.
Add a food safe resin coating to encapsulate it and there you go, Bobs your uncle!
For those of us that live on the other side of the Atlantic, what exactly does "waffling" mean? Does it just mean to act a bit silly or is there more to it?
@@rossthomas7425 it means to talk in a rambling way
I'd drink coffee out of that, and have the coolest mug ever...
And waffle to your heart's content.
A mug is a great idea!!!!
Rather than coffee it looks like something your drink Asgardian ale out of
I was hoping you wouldn't go the typical round route, and love the glacier angled crystal effect you came up with! I wish you had shown what it looks like with one of those battery operated tea lights inside of it, I be it would be beautiful.
I was thinking candle as well!!
Anyone who doesn’t enjoy your “ waffling” must have very little sense of humour. I am smiling and laughing all the way through your videos. Carry on,
I love it. :)
I jus wanna say anyone watching have a great day, stay positive, and stay safe
You have a nice day and stay safe as well 💜🤍🖤
❤️
I love this guy. He’s funny and he knows what he’s doing. By the way, it was lovely.💖
Watching you make things is a highlight of my week. I'm an over the road long haul truck truck driver. It's only when I'm home every 6-8 weeks that I get to make things. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you. And please don't ever stop waffling. Makes your videos that much more fun!!
Edi: That NEEDS a light!
This video has it all! The piece is gorgeous (my favorite so far), the waffling is fun, the Yorkshire Grit made its grand appearance... I could go on and on. Thank you Nick, for sharing your passion with us! It’s entertaining and inspiring!
Hi from Missouri USA!! I like this piece! A flickering LED candle would be pretty
I'm from Missouri too!
Me too!
You are dead on about the LED candle! Ever so cool!
The folks from Missouri are saying,
"SHOW ME an interior light" !!! hahahaha!!!
awwww, that's funny!!
@@gardengatesopen I see what you did there!😂😂😂
Nick, this is one of the most beautiful vases you have ever made ❤️ I would say it is like the wild ocean in a storm hitting the underwater landscape, churning in a most beautiful dance. This vase is so imperfectly perfect! ❤️❤️
So, I've been a subscriber to Nick's channel for some time now and my good lady wife and I were sat watching this Arctic Glacier being crafted. We were discussing the fact that it wasn't round and that it was unusual but lovely. At the end of the clip my wife says "I really like that" so nonchalantly reaching for my tablet as if to check something out, I logged into Nick's website and bought it for her. Hopefully she will be gobsmacked. Bob in Wiltshire.
Lucky Lady x
I don't know what it is about your videos specifically but my one year old absolutely loves them. Stops fussing, sits with me calmly, completely enthralled. Thanks for helping me stay sane. (And I love your videos too.)
I love how you talk, then say quickly and talk and then carry on talking again. Hehe love your channel and creativity. Watching in SA.
I dont know why people don't like u waffling on.....I love hearing u talk....kinda missed the sexy interlude in this one....lol much love xoxoxo
It doesn't hurt that he's so pleasant to look at!
The odd cuts instead of making it just circular does really make it look like it could be a piece of ice that formed that way- very cool!
Honestly, Nick? One of the most beautiful pieces you've done in a while. More organic/faceted things like this, please!
Can you do some gkow in the dark resins and show them to us with a backlight
Is there a product called gkow or is that glow?Inquiring minds want to know! And if It's glow, then ya, I think that might be very cool!
I agree, make some shavings from glow in the dark resin, then drop it into some clear. It looks very cool under a blacklight
I´m in _LOVE_ with this piece! 💜 what a beauty! :)
And a side note, I stayed til the end, I know how much that means for the algorithm, as does a comment, even if it´s just a heart or just a dot, and personally, I think it´s such an easy, good way to show the creator that you appreciate their content, it´s not that hard and it doesn´t take that much time just to stay til the end and show some appreciation n form of a thumbs up and a comment, for all the hard work you do to make this videos AND sharing them for FREE, so as a viewer, this is the least I can do :)
Thank you for sharing :) 💜
Agreed!!
Nick, you should have your own show on tv! My kids absolutely love all of your videos, myself included. Love the sound effects and the comedy, it’s brilliant.
Plus we also get to see you make such beautiful items aswell, your talent and skills are amazing.
Thanks for all the wicked content.
This blank looked awesome before you even started, and I love that you decided on this crystalline looking outside. Perfection, probably one of my favorites that you've done!
Beautyful. I'm from Iceland and this piece reminds me of home❤.
Thanks for great content - you make me smile every time!
Your waffling is what sets your videos apart. You’re one of the best.
😊🙏🏽😍
That, and most women find him sexy, and love the accent. 😂
Yes!
@@shawnblevins2138 can't deny that ! But more importantly he's very talented and relatable ,love the waffling too Nick
When he stops talking and gets to work!
That turned out so beautifully, I love it! The colours are perfect together. If it were mine I would probably put a small glass votive holder and candle in it sometimes, and flowers other times.
Thanks for another fun video and lovely project, Nick.
and, some of us are loving the wild long hair, js
♥
This may be one of my favorite projects that you've done. As soon as you started hollowing it out I thought it would make a really cool lamp shade
I was expecting you to put a light in there, that would've really brought out the swirls of colour soo well!
One of my favorite projects!!!! Nicely done, absolutely beautiful!!!!!!
When my boss ask me why I'm sleeping at my desk I shall say " you know Nick? Nick Zammeti? No? Well he posted a new video and had me up at 3:48 am watching it. You should look him up."
😂😂🤣😂🤣😂
Good early morning form here in The Bahamas 🇧🇸
Heartwarming beautifully made. Wonderful to see on a bitterly cold morning here in Minnesota. At 3:53am the temp is -6°F and with a steady 15 mph wind that makes for a wind chill of -31°F. Time to curl up with my cat! Stay warm and healthy PLEASE!
I love this piece! It reminds me of the ocean, smashing against the rocks, off the coast of Oregon. Which I miss as I now live in Michigan.
Nick, I absolutely loved it. Am a bit like you with being impatient with my sanding. However, that vase turned out incredible. Those angles added tremendously to it's character. Round all the time is a bit boring. Not sure about your stats with waffling. I find your waffling quite entertaining. Have tried all I can and am disappointed that I cannot stream your show on the telly. Thanks a million and waffle on!
GORGEOUS VASE! I love the misty blue and white and wood together.....and its shape is not boring...one of the best things you've done!
This is probably your most beautiful piece yet! It was beautiful from the start, it was beautiful when you were working on it, and it was beautiful when you finished it!
I like the natural organic look. Round and perfect is so ordinary lol.
IMO, this is one of your best products.
LOVE the shape of this! And an LED tea-light inside it would bring out all the amazing colors & swirls. Absolutely Gorgeous!
This is outstanding! I love the weird and wonderfulness of it, love the colors, love that it looks kind of faceted in an odd sort of way. I think it would be wonderful with a tea light inside shining through the wonderfulness. Great job!
It looks almost like a wood and resin Beer mug tesorax cube from Thor
I know you were trying to say Tesseract and that is EXACTLY what I was thinking
@@venushale7113 Everybody knew what he was saying, mate.
Me: need to get ready for work
CZcams: Nick has dropped a new vid
Me: oh well, late again
😜😂😂
I love this piece 😍 I grew up in Labrador, Newfoundland, and it reminds me of the glaciers floating by in summer. Icebergs are never fully round and the fact that you stepped outside the box makes is a uniquely stunning piece. A great addition to any decor. Bravo 👏
It's beautiful, like smoke flowing through the it. I have to say, if you're having a bad day just watch one of Nick's videos, you'll be smiling and laughing by the end. All while he's making something fantastic. Thanks Nick for helping us get through this past year.
That is one of the best pieces yet! You just keep getting better and better!
Its so weird that when you brought out the block my first thought was I wonder if he could make a different shape other than round! I was floored when you stopped rounding it out! Great minds and all that! LOL
I came here because of pretty things being made but stayed for your delightful accent and the waffling! It's honestly refreshing that you're not afraid to be a goofball.
The only woodturning videos i will watch where the creator talks are these because theyre so fun
Absolutely stunning.
One of your best pieces Nick. You are at your best when you don't know what you are doing. Love it man.
The perfectionist in me is like, dude! It's all out of shape! But the rebel in me absolutely loves it! Gorgeous!
for some reason, I want to drink out of this. I don't know why
🤯🤩 That look you get on your face when your husband says "Funky Harry Potter" has got a new video out and it looks pretty cool! It has a beachy Artic glacier look about it.
Nick, an idea...
The next time you set about making somthing similar, put some tiny LED bulbs in the mix with the power leads sticking out. Then after you have made it, connect the LEDs to a power source. That way the piece would be self-illuminating from inside out.
9:20 Wow! it looks so beautiful!!
Hello from Troutdale Oregon USA.. Love your waffling on.. This piece is my favorite wish I could afford it.. Keep up the Great work
I WAS thinking “Nick! What are you doing ‽” but it was followed by “use a push block with your bandsaw instead of getting your arm so close there!”
I think it came out great. I like what you decided to do with it. It looks more like a glacier. The polish came out phenomenal, it looks like a chunk of glass. Very cool bud. Funky indeed
I would have to say out of all your work Ive been watching you for 3yrs now.... this is my favorite peace. You should do a massive one.
I miss waffling Wednesdays!! Hey Nick you should try casting Cotton candy and see how it turns out🤣
It would just melt lol
@@LunarNagito probably, but I know that some researchers a few years ago were trying to cast cotton candy in ?silicone? to mimic capillaries. They would dissolve the candy with water after after the silicone set up so they had a little pre-built capillary system in the silicone. It would be cool to see if that were possible in resin, then maybe use a vacuum to pull resin into the capillaries. But it'll probably just be a weird way to color resin.
@@johnweems4586 I think the possibilities of some really cool results might just be worth it. I wonder if you could put an LED in it and get a soft ethereal glow. A kind of mad astronomers light. I also wonder if you could create an Aurora Borealis effect by using various knitting needles 2 poke holes in silicone and then cast resin. Is such a thing possible? A curtain effect in resin.
Maybe try colored cotton balls
That would b beautiful if possible. Ur comment made me go into too deep a thoughts trying to picture the 'how' part n it made me think of when we used ta pull cotton sheets to make cobwebs, but then I remembered cotton candy has the sugar crystals so that's when I started thinking too hard about it. That's a really pretty picture I have in my head of what itd look like. It really would b beautiful💝
How about an ANT made out of resin ... you'd have the Antarctic lol
🤣🤣🤣
It turned out absolutely beautifully! You could even stick a string of mini (seriously mini!) ice white LEDs in there. I can imagine it would make a nice glow
love it, looks different from the norm and the waffling is a needed part of the show
:)
WOWSA !!!!!!! That could be a vase or a tea-light candle holder. It’s truly GORGEOUS Nick. Love ya 😍🥰♥️🙏🌈🇨🇦/🇬🇧
I enjoy your waffling! I usually 'watch' videos while I draw- I love watching you make stuff and talk about it! It's inspiring!
I watch your video all the time my 4 year old great nephew love watching you he be cracking up at your video now we up at 9 clock in the morning on 2/10/23 watching you
I know I am not a majority but I think when you "waffle on" at the end is my favorite part. Keep doing what your doing!
That’s SO pretty! I think a votive candle in it would be pretty shining through the different colors.
I love to hear you waffle on. It's one of the reasons I watch your videos, aside from the truly amazing things you create. This piece is no exception. Outstanding!
I love this one Nick, not just because of the different shape ,but the cool effect of the resin and that wood has a starburst in it too it is an amazingly beautiful vase my favourite one at the moment..I hope you and your family are all safe and well 🥰
Absolutely Love watching you, I have been watching all the older videos. Now my husband is interested in your work! Thanks keep posting and for goodness sakes waffle on! Love your accent!
I love the “chopped” look (rather than round) - goes perfectly with the aesthetic of the resin’s colors
Thank you 😊
That music at the end of your video is just fantastic - it's a nice accompaniment to the beauty shots of your fabulous creations. Your videos have excellent production value start to finish. Thank you. ❤️
Dude that is the coolest mug/vase on the planet. Just the colors in the piece pop out at you. Amazing! Love it!
your banter with us is one of the reasons we come to watch you do your thing. :)
this is a fun one.
The piece is absolutely gorgeous!
I love the clear part with wood and color. So kool. One of my favorites. Can you do some more videos with weird things. I watch your pencils videos over snd over. They are sooooo kool!!! The best on CZcams!! Waffle on 🤪🤪
Nick. Don't ever change the way you do things on your channel.
Really entertaining.
Sweet!! Love the colors and shape. Keep up the awesome work and thanks for sharing your talent with the world on CZcams!
Think your collection of cut off bits would make a beautiful chandelier. Love this project, mix of materials, colours & shape. Absolutely beautiful 🤩 ✌🏼🇨🇦
1. Have you ever thought about making a pour with tiny origami animals as the items you put in the resin? Origami paper is incredibly thin, so it should absorb the resin just fine.
2. I love the way you will admit you have no idea what you're doing, but you make it entertaining.
3. while I love watching you work, I do appreciate the visualized fast forward portions... they're quite cool really.
4. I like that your Glacier piece isn't a predictable shape, because Glaciers and Ice Bergs create their own shapes anyway.
This may be my favorite of all your projects thus far. I love the organic quality. I would put a little battery candle in it.
Pendants from those scraps are good but it would also be fun to cast them in a larger, different color resin piece.
I love the fact that it's not round.
I love it!!! It is beautiful, you can get lost in it. Toot that horn and waffle on!!! 🎺🎺🎺💜💛💚💙
I like it. You let the project lead you in an unexpected direction. That’s art, man, it talks to the artist.
The waffling is the best part. Personality and awesomeness.
I also love the waffling. It fits you to a tea. That’s an awesome vase. Keep on with the waffling and stay safe 🙏🙏👍
Totally agree with below comments, the angels make it look so natural.
Yay for the Yorkshire Grit reveal! What a beautiful thing you've made. I don't think I'd be able to stop touching it!
That really came out beautiful & I love the faceted, crystalline shape. Suits the blue resin perfectly.
If you want to cut down on all that sanding, cutting compounds like jeweller's rouge on a flap wheel can be used on something you've taken to about 240/300 grit & it'll polish it up lovely without all the time & mess. it's my go-to shortcut when working with acrylics, but you do need to be a bit mindful of heat buildup (which I suppose is true of sanding too).
The "Yorkshire Git" sticker behind Nick had me cracking up!!! I love it!
You have out done yourself here. Just superb. Lost for words. This is the best i have seen in a long long time. Colors and the cuts everything. WOW
I love it. It's got an icy underwater feel to it. And the asymmetrical shape is beautiful. 🥰
Nick I love how the white looks like clouds floating in the sky. Great Job.
What a gorgeous piece Nick. Looks tome as if you cut and polished a giant aquamarine into a gemstone. Put a battery operated boogie light in and you have a very cool lamp. Besides aint nothing better for me than a waffle over a cuppa.
Oh my God I want that so bad!!! It's absolutely gorgeous!!! Those extra bits with me excellent bookmarks. Thank you for sharing!!! ♥️🦋🌼🇺🇲
You're always so energetic in your videos , I hope it doesn't drain your energy and that you can keep doing this with joy.
You did some very nice laithe work and the finished piece looks really cool :) keep it up!
I would have liked to see a light in there to show off all the cool colours and details. Pendants sound cool. Would make nice window charms or a wind mobile.
It's absolutely gorgeous!!! Looks just like a piece of polished glacier.
Glacier pendants!!!
Fabulous! Love the simplicity of the coloration (ahem, less is more). Great form as well. Very mid-century modern-ish. All in all, stunning.
