For scarlet violet DLC you don't HAVE to play them, but they are SIGNIFICANTLY better than the Sword Shield DLCs. The story is really good, battles are a lot better, especially in indigo disk, and world Itself for both of these DLCs feels WAY more fleshed out and dynamic than base game in my opinion. VERY much worth it.
Also I don't are about detective pikachu either, can't help you there

I play pokemon for the exploration and catching pokemon, more then battling, so I enjoyed the sword and shield DLC a lot more then this one. I think you get a lot more out of scarlet and violets DLC if you enjoy battling and coming up with strategies :)

Yeah these dlc were way better. Didn’t expect Pokémon to have an enjoyable story but it did.having the doubles battles was a nice change of pace and the battles themselves were a bit tougher. Being able to get all the legendaries was cool. Also it’s worth it just to have the ability for your mount to fly freely at the end.

If you liked Pokémon SV's base game, the DLC should be a no-brainer. A couple good new areas and some great new characters.
Detective Pikachu Returns is an improvement on the first and it actually resolves the overarching story, but if you weren't a fan of the first it's not going to change your mind. It has better pacing which makes the plot a little more interesting, but it's still baby's first Ace Attorney.

I'm actually on my second playthrough of Tears of the Kingdom, and I have to say, I'm enjoying it a lot more this time. My first playthrough, I more or less kind of blitzed through the game because I wanted to see how the main story would conclude. But now, I'm taking my time to explore way more now and I'm not as curious to see what's new from Breath of the Wild, but more to appreciate what's already here. I do share the common sentiment that I do hope Nintendo scales things back and does something different with the next Zelda game, but for what's here, I think it's definitely one of the best in the whole series.

32:54 Yes to all of this. In spite of all the jank (probably helps I tend to play primarily in handheld mode), I had a really good time with these games. On Fire Emblem Engage DLC, if you get it, it's best to play through it like early-mid way through your save. To get the new units and use them. The DLC campaign is oddly tied to your save file this time, so you have to play through it everytime you have a new save. And there's no NG+ in Engage.
For Pokemon DLC, it's mostly to catch legacy Pokemon not in the main game. And personally, I hated the plot for the DLC, new characters were a pain. If you're not interesting in catching old Pokemon or original Starters, then you could probably skip it.

As somebody who has experience what happened with Advance Wars Re-Boot Camp, I can tell you what happened: as you discerned, WayForward didn't care. They didn't care to improve the gameplay in any meaningful way, they didn't care to patch the game even when game-breaking glitches were running rampant because of failure to make sure RAM was consistently kept cleaned up, and they didn't even care to do anything about the ex-employee leaking information to Mangs the guy who pulled the messes like what is called out in "Mangs & July 2020" as well as "Why Mangs content is not welcome on the Advance Wars Wikia." WayForward simply gave the community to the unrepentant lecherous piece of filth and his unbelievably corrupt supporters. You could argue that you have experience with a certain CC, but believe me when I say that Mangs makes him look cuddly.
Anyway, even without the community politics, I still say that Advance Wars Re-Boot Camp is still a bad remake. It may have its upsides, but I know it didn't fix bad gameplay in any meaningful way and even made gameplay worse at a few locations, only caring to showcase UI improvements, yawn. Oh, and those were botched anyway with tank sizes being harder to tell apart. By contrast, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Physical DEF Ally Buff, under less incentive, showed itself willing to involve new mechanics, and while the finetuning of those new mechanics wasn't perfect, they don't disappoint as my nickname for the Replace shows. Between SMRPG:LOTPDAF and Pac-Man World Re-Pac, which was actually a case of the Pac-Man fan finally playing his game (funny that) but still involved me finding that the original Pac-Man World had blatant design issues, I can say that adding engaging options, especially for the intermediate to work with, is what makes for good remakes. Advance Wars Re-Boot Camp didn't care to understand that. SMRPG:LOTPDAF and PMWRP both understood.

As for F-Zero 99 that series has been dormant since the mid 2000s so to get an F-Zero battle Royale is the best thing that could ever happen, If we don’t get a brand new HD F-Zero game for Nintendo’s next console then a remaster of F-Zero GX on Gamecube is the best chance of F-Zero living on in SOME capacity.

    - As someone whose favorite parts of a Zelda game are the story and dungeons, I am of the camp that hopes they take a somewhat more linear approach for the next installment. BotW and TotK are games I _respect,_ but they don't really feel like the Zelda that I'm a fan of. Plus, I can't even change Link's name to Pingas, so that's an automatic 0/10 right there.
    - I've only ever played 1-2-Switch for like five minutes, and that was more than enough for me. I have no clue how they decided it should be a full $50 release rather than a pack-in title, let alone how they decided it needed a _sequel._ I can't imagine the original sold well enough to warrant it.

The fact that the sequel to 1 2 Switch is half the price, supports 16 players (8 with phones) instead of 2, and has Bojack (technically) automatically makes it infinitely better than the original, which I still consider to be the absolute worst 1st/2nd party game on the Switch.

I think the big reason the next Zelda game will need to be less open is because, when you really break it down, the BOTW/TOTK formula is pretty much entirely based around making it's "absolute freedom" concept work, so it's kind of hard for me to imagine another "absolute freedom" Zelda not just being Breath of the Wild 3. Think Mario 64 to Sunshine, where it rolled back the open-ended mission experimentation 64 had in order to experiment with a bigger sense of narrative and progression in each level (and just like Sunshine I'm sure if they roll the freedom back some people will proceed to not stop complaining about it for 15 years). It's kind of inevitable that they'll have to close some doors if they want it to really be a new iteration of Zelda.

  • @Tudsworth

I played Detective Pikachu Returns and it... Sure is a sequel to Detective Pikachu. I didn't hate it by any means and I got a pretty decent deal on it (I paid a little over £30), but if you were lukewarm on the first game, the sequel feels more or less exactly the same in a lot of respects, right down to some of the story beats feeling like they came straight from the original title.
I get that, as a direct sequel to a late 3DS title not a lot of people played, they'd feel the need to reiterate the first game, but it really is a game where the only way I'd recommend it is if somebody hadn't played the first game, but was still interested in a simple, family friendly, graphic adventuee title.

i think both tears of the kingdom and BOTW had their charms but tears has that sequel touch that makes the first game not being that necesary in gameplay perspective because oh boy they really did a lot of stuff in tears that makes you play the "same map" (not enterily same) in a really good way, i also loved that final boss, that alone was an exagerated upgrade from BOTW final boss, like if it was the original idea or something and i you play both of them you end satisfied with that
i also liked the devs conference about this game,if you wacth that one you completely understand why did they took too long to develop this game not to mention the confirmation by nintendo that this game was already done on 2022 but they took a whole year to polish the game and that was necesary considering all the crazy stuff you can do in this game
such a wonderful experience but i hope zelda goes to a next level, not that i hate the BOTW atmosphere but i think they need to move on from that after 3 games already with age of calamity

Correction: Pac-Man 99 died because namco is bringing their own Pac-Man Battle Royale.
Also, for everyone complaining about Mario 35, Nintendo told y'all *_ahead of time_* that it was going to be for a limited time! Stop asking why that game got discontinued! It was planned from the jump!

Why do people keep saying that BOTW/TOTK is a departure, when all it did was hearken back to what made the first and third game so great. I just don't get that consensus. Like, was a lot of youse' first Zelda game "Ocarina of Time" or something?? Are all of the Zelda games before it that niche? Did y'all not like those games that much? Why do so many of you disagree that Zelda works as a nonlinear game? I just don't get it. Can someone please explain it to me without sounding like an opinionated douchebag? (Because yes, that has happened to me on this cesspool that we call the internet)

As someone who's not really an fan of BotW/TotK myself ( didn't hate them. Just not my kind of game ), I guess that's not the case. I don't even think Ocarina of Time is all that great. Influential & important game, sure. But best game ever? Not by much.

As a fan of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (warts and all, and believe me, there are some big warts on that game), if you liked that game, you’ll like the DLC, IMO. The story isn’t quite as strong, but I got the DLC at Christmas, when the two waves were out, and I thought the DLC story was still pretty good for Pokémon standards as a complete package. I watched the story for Teal Mask and wasn’t invested and didn’t think it was super interesting, but they were right to say Part 1 and Part 2, since the two waves flow into each other well and just work as a complete package. And the highlight is the epilogue they did after, IMO, since your whole friend group just gets together for some fun antics.
And if you didn’t like Detective Pikachu the movie or the 3DS game, you can very much skip the game, IMO. That’s not to say I think it’s bad, from a certain perspective, I think it is a good game. But that (which is to say, my own) perspective is “I have stuck with the Pokémon anime for years, and this is a story that has that comfortable and friendly vibe the anime has, with JUST a little bit more of an edge to it.” I think the story and characters are charming, and the gameplay is like, not even Baby’s First Ace Attorney. It’s like, Positive Pregnancy Test’s First Ace Attorney.
So yeah, Scarlet/Violet DLC is good. Detective Pikachu I liked, but if you didn’t like the movie or the game, it’s one you can easily skip. The asking price being what it was is why I asked for it as a gift.

Okay, last year in 2023 for Nintendo was pretty good we had remakes of Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe and Super Mario RPG we got DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and we finally got a new 2D Mario Game Super Mario Bros Wonder but I hope for this year since we are getting a new Princess Peach Game Princess Peach Showtime and also remakes of Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, Luigi's Mansion 2 The Dark Moon, and Epic Mickey I hope that we do get remakes of Tomodachi Life, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Kirby Planet Robobot, Kirby Air Ride, Starfox Assault, and Donkey Kong Country Returns would be really good remake games to see on Switch. But, I just hope that they do change King Dedede in the next remake of either Triple Deluxe or Planet Robobot. And also maybe in the sequel for Kirby and the Forgotten Land that HAL is working on for the next 3D Kirby Game because again his design just looks like a club penguin design I just I hope that they do change it again in the next Kirby game. And also instead of giving Magolor the spotlight how about giving other characters the spotlight like Susie, Marx, Taranza, Elfilin, Ribbon, Adeleine, Clawroline, and more. And hopefully, we can finally see Tiff, Tuff, and Escargoon finally being in the Kirby Games that would be cool to see but I hope this year we do get something good from Nintendo.

I wonder, in order for certain sections of the video to make sense, like the part about Advance Wars where you talk and your hands touch the box, are these random movements of the hand so that it feels as though the person with the hands is the one talking at that moment?
It' s hilarious to me that there's this footage of you just randomly touching and hitting the box in the silence of your room because you need some movement in the image while narrating over it. :D

31:00 I mean... it was 3 instead of 2, but they did that with Mario 3D Allstars! =P
And you counting Famicom Detective Club reminds me that they didn't release it physically here and still only ever charged 60€ for it. Still mad about it because it looks so great!

SV DLC is pretty good, man. The story is pretty nice and entertaining too, if not even more fun than the base game, but take THAT with a grain of salt, because yeah the performance is the same and the presentation is still kinda meh but the story behind is definitely, 100% fun.
I have a small feeling you will really really like Ogerpon, the general consensus is that EVERYBODY loves Ogerpon, she’s great, and the story makes you care.
As for Indigo Disk, it is skippable unless you like the characters in Teal Mask, but the battles in Indigo Disk are a HUGE breath of fresh air, lots of competitive-ish team comps, more fun characters that don't necessarily hold up in the long run but still have their moments.
Again, it's no Xenoblade 3 DLC, But if you enjoyed the base game, you will definitely enjoy the SV DLC.

As someone who felt pretty disappointed by the actual gameplay of Three Houses, I found Engage to be up there with my favorite entries in the franchise. The story might be… eh.. but the map design is just perfect, the difficulty feels tuned to perfection, and the mechanics are really, for lack of a better word, engaging! I really grew to like most of the cast, and the soundtrack is great as well imo.

For me botw and totk are masterpieces of games but there not anywhere near my fav Zelda games. I 100% both but I used guides when I play a game I much rather be told exactly where to go and what to do first and then the fun and challenge is going and doing it. I don’t like having the freedom to do whatever I want it confuses me. Like should I keep trying to beat this boss or am I just not ready and need to grind for iteams first that’s a huge reason why these are lesser Zelda games for me still love them and omg the music is amazing in both.

I also like scarlet and violet a lot. I don't enjoy the DLC. I made a mistake with my switch and had to replay the first DLC two more times and it was not fun for me, because I did not like the characters. I got past the first fight in the second DLC and was frustrated that pokemons was hidden behind a lot of grind so I stopped. I think you will enjoy the second DLC if you enjoy double battles and are fine with a lot of grind.
