Think of all those perfectly good key fobs just sitting there not being used! @@HouseandCarHacks

I have a 2012 BMW X1, came back from holiday and had a battery warning light for the key on the dash. Despite driving 600 miles in 2 days it didn't charge fully, so I parked the car on the driveway, connected a 12v AGM battery charger to the charging posts under the bonnet, had my grandad park his car behind mine and then left my car unlocked, with the key in it and ignition on overnight.
Sure enough, key has worked great since then. Might help some people who have a driveway, I'd never do this if I didn't have a drive. But with that said, you can always take the physical key out, leave the key in the car and then lock the car with the physical key from the outside. But I wouldn't advise someone to do that.
Blocking my car in with another car on the drive seemed the safest way to do it :)

I've heard of that method too, good call, but I reckon this cordless phone charger idea is a real winner. I wonder how many tens of thousands of keyfobs have been replaced unnecessarily?!

I hope it works for you. Try different positions if it doesn't work first time.

Really good info, a first for youtube I think. Do you think this would work with any cordless phone charger?

I can't see why not as the tech must be very similar. thanks for commenting.
