I remember seeing a different recap of this movie (or it’s rather an episode from a series called On Children, but we can still count it as a movie). The movie is really well created, but the system is extremely messed up. I myself have ADHD, and the fact that the state wants to get rid of students with deficiencies personally triggers me a lot. I feel really bad for Nova, because her mother is nothing but a complete fraud and monster who only cares about her image.
However, I took a lot of comfort from the survivor camp, showing that children are allowed to be creative. And that grades don’t define your worth, which is why I also come to theorize that the state is treating students like robots to only get A+ in everything, not allowing them to have personal lives.
If I was a mother in this situation, I’d rather live in poverty with my child than give him up over privileges. Because I also believe grades don’t define worth as long as someone works hard and achieves his dream, and is raised in a loving home. This is something Chuan failed to do miserably and she is the worst role model.
So needless to say, it is a horrible story, but very well portrayed, and extremely well recapped.

We are led to believe that if you are not part of the top 10% then you don't actually deserve anything. Notice what people tell a person when that person says something like "In my current job the pay is not good enough, I can't pay rent and food", the answer is: "Get a better job, go study, make improvements". That answer is tacitly accepting that some jobs shouldn't give people enough compensation to get by, which is absurd. Any legitimate job is contributing to society and should provide enough for a person to live. The bottom line is this, we can't all be the top 10% of society at the same time, it's just a logical impossibility, yet people act like it somehow makes sense.

Children are seen as liabilities and God forbid if a child is diagnosed with any disorder... Immediately the situation is perceived as being bothersome and therefore getting rid of the child in the womb or sometimes outside the womb becomes a solution (an evil one at that)... As a teacher, i have observed parents getting into herd mentality - they want expensive schools for their children and they are willing to bend backwards to keep up the show in society... Children are pressurized into scoring over 95%... Kids are seen as projects rather than as blessings...

im 15, an asian kid who just recently finished 3 entrance exams. Kids get little to no care for their mental health here. ADHD is an excuse for you to be lazy and depression is just a completely normal teenage phase to parents, everyone is compared, everyone is pushed to be like their friends. "Why is your friend better than you? youre their friend.", they tell each of us the same phrases for years.
    Your grades DEFINE your worth;
i happened to be someone with undiagosed ADHD and depression, anxiety disorder and selective mustism, i struggled a lot with studying because my ADHD kept me away from focusing and depression kept bringing me suicidal thoughts. My parents do not give 2 much shit about my mental health. I am poorly raised. They never taught me anything more than their names and how much they work. I do not have any mental support
This movie hits like home to me. I wish the world would change and not just leave it as an asian stereotype thing. I really would burn the world because theres almost nothing given to me other than stress and words of judgement, I have nothing to lose.

I know this is a late reply, but I just wanted to see how you were doing?
I hope for the best for you in the future, I hope you achieve things you hope for. I just hope you're doing better in general. I may just be some random weirdo replying to you, and I may not be the best with words, but I believe in you. Okay? I believe in you, you got this. Give yourself some time to take breathes when you need it. Close yours eyes and just breathe, okay? Think about things that make you happy when you do take breathes. Talk to your friends. Just don't push yourself. I believe in you. ❤️❤️
I have ADHD too, and it really affected my school life. I can't stay focused for more than maybe 5 to 10 minutes? I have to re read sentences more than three times because my mind automatically wonders off, leaving me just reading the words out, and not reading the actual sentence, and it's just a nightmare. I would cry on the way to school every day, get physically sick, and throw up almost everyday, and I never ate breakfast because of feeling sick, I threw more fits from being hangry, I hated the school lunch, so I never ate lunch either, THAT didn't help. So ADHD really didn't help at all. I ended my last year of public school with all F's. So now I'm homeschooled, been homeschooled all of 10th grade so far. Doing better, good grades, am able to pace myself and take breaks when my ADHD is acting up. So yeah.
Again. I believe in you. Take note that I keep saying that, because it's true. You definitely have potential. And ADHD doesn't define who you can and can't be. Breathe when you have to, breathe when you need to. And believe you can do it. Because you can, okay? ❤️

Nova probably doesn't have ADHD. If she did, she probably would have been diagnosed and killed a long time ago. She only got diagnosed because she misbehaved (was rude and fidgeted), because Chuan told her to. The state probably kills people with ADHD because it assumes they're useless, as they tend to get lower grades. The correlation between "ADHD" and low grades is probably stronger in the society in ADHD is Necessary than in real life, since mothers like Chuan trick their unsuccessful children into pretending to have ADHD to get rid of them.

Its sort of similar to Squid Game.
    The movie Concept.
Where the players have to keep on successfully completing the stages in order to survive and get on to next level to reach the end and claim the prize.
Here the students have to keep on working hard and study in order to maintain their grades in each semester until they graduate. If not then death awaits them.

@@masdogplayz892 In Squid Game if you mess up the challenge like failing to complete the task on time and not doing correctly then you will be immediately executed. If you pass the challenge you move on to the next challenge one step closer to the final challenge.
In this movie The students have to keep on studying. Work hard to maintain their grades in each semester untill they graduate. The students who doesn't secure the marks which they need to secure then their parents will lose the privileges which they receive due to their child studying and performing well. The students will immediately be taken to the room where they will be executed.
      Isn't it similar?
Obviously the movie Concept is very similar.
Not 💯 % same but similarities you might say.

" Movie Concept" and I didn't say the word "Same". I said "Similar".
I just said this movie Concept is similar to Squid Game. That's all.
