Great review, just bought one, can’t wait to try it!! 👍🏻😀
Great video! I am going to get this grinder. Have a nice day!
Love that Volvo.
Great video. Nice hat Andrew. I just saw it the other day.
It's a good grinder to start with
I have just bought this. I am looking forward to see if I can taste a difference compared to bought pre-ground coffee.
I've gotten pretty into coffee over the last few years and have ventured well into the rabbit hole, too. I'm interested in purchasing this for travel. When adjusting the grinder, how do you know what level of fineness will output from it? For example, do you tighten it and then dial it several rotations to get to where you want? What would be the appropriate setting on the Hario Skerton for a pour-over? (I usually do 14 - 20 on my Encore depending on the brewer.)
thanks for affirming that my first hand-grinder was a good choice! what do you recommend as the next tier of hand-grinding? I find that hand-grinding is actually quite a cathartic experience and I don't want to lose that to the electric grinders just yet.
Depends on budget. I don't have experience but just based on what I've been researching for my setup:
Knock Aergrinder, Lido 3 or E or E/T, Helor 101. These all seem like logical next steps. /r/coffee over on reddit have some good information
@@MattM-24 we just got in the Timemore hand grinders and WOWWWW they are good! I'll try to do a review.
@@amcwilliam would love to see it! The timemore grinders don't get any attention at /r/coffee because they've tried to make fake accounts to advertise with, pretending to be random people.
However they have good grinders and they're affordable, and I'm interested to hear what you think!
Do you know if the Hario Mini Slim Pro does have the same internals as the Skerton Pro? Do they have the same burr? Are the burrs the same size? Thank You!
I believe the burrs are the same but the pro has spring loaded action. Not 100% on that but that's my best guess.
Cheers, cool vid. I think people overplay the grinding effort though. Just used mine for the first time - first time I've ever used a coffee grinder - and grinding one cup took little effort. Also it's obviously a lot less noisy than an electric grinder no?
But anyway, all you have to do is attach a drill!
That's what I plan to do if I want to grind a lot. Remove the handle and pop on a nice (preferably Japanese lol) drill - using the correct nut.
So much more affordable than an electric grinder for the quality. Best of both worlds.
I’ve done the drill attachment as well. It’s awesome :) Thanks for watching!
Hello, do you think this would be better for my one cup a day French press coffee vs my current blade grinder? I don't want to spend lots of cash on a high end electric burr grinder.
I don't think I'd mind manually grinding especially if it's going to be coarse and just for one cup. But I also don't want just throw money out the window if this isn't going to make my French press coffee taste any better than using my current $20 blade grinder.
I'd say so. Blade grinders burn the beans and don't release the aromatic compounds. Burr is much better. You can always get the original Skerton or Skerton Plus for around half the price.
For sure it would be better. This is good grinder for the price and if it’s just one cup a day it won’t be to much work :)
Great Video, u should try arabica origin beans from Indonesia (Aceh, Bandung, Bali, Toraja, NTT, wamena)
You prob just lost your old lid because mind has one. the only thing is the old lid didn't completely cover the top so occasionally a bean would jump out which was kinda annoying but also kinda funny. i think i'll finally upgrade my grinder to the pro, looks great!
Actual review begins at 2:23. I could have done without the preamble.
Thanks. It's actually skeleton. Skerton is the Japanese pronunciation as they do not have an L.
No, it's not. Even in the US, it's marketed and sold as the Hario Skerton.
