If your scooter is running fine with the needle in its original position, leave it there!
You only need to adjust this if you change the air filter to a hi-flow version or modify the air box to give a greater air flow or maybe, fit a big bore kit, other than that, leave well alone!
Learn to read your plug colour as this will tell you far more than just randomly playing about with the jet needle setting.

@Johnny Moto When it's about full throttle it's good, but after starting slow speed was bogging. I seen a video and cut the spring shorter on the slide and the 2 holes on it a bit larger but it's just not right. Thinking about change the pilot jet size now

the idle speed screw has literally nothing to do with your initial take off speed.
correct, shitty take off speed means the carb air fuel mix screw needs to be tuned

Doesn't! My 600 Yzf idles at 1500rmp I could have it idling at 3000rpm and yes it would take off quicker because it's like your applying trottle.. variator weights adjust the take off speed on a moped, lighter weight = acceleration.. heavy weights = top speed, the more you adjust the variator weights the more you'll have to adjust your air mix screw (air and 2stroke screw if it's a 2stroke as it could be to lean/rich and cause a seize or fowling of plugs)
Its the low speed screw on the other side of the idle screw
@louis mayswhen I had my Peugeot vivacity 50 I ran 2 different weights (8g and 5.5g) I managed 55mph on flat with standard head and exhaust.. I went through a few different weights before I was happy, it's all about how you feel happy with it mate

Moving the clip up actually leans out the mixture and moving it down raises the needle out of the jet which makes the mix more rich. You said the opposite. Love your vids, keep them coming. Just wanted to point out the mistake so people weren't misinformed.

Hey what did you say if it does it when you're at full throttle wide open. Cuz when I go max downhill I hear a funny sound by where the belt is going around
how would one run rich when it is a straight gas motor. I can see if it was mix gas with two cycle oil an has more 2 cycle oil then it should. an need to add more gas.

Tried it, ate more gas with slightly more acceleration from 34-38kpl dropped to 29kpl. Returned it back to middle stock setting. My racing cdi did the job right with mininal sacrifice to fuel economy
How much of an increase did the cdi make? I was thinking of getting an unrestricted cdi and doing this also?

Most people just would use the lubrication from the gear oil and use no
grease at all. Also, is it ok to mix the two together(grease on the gear
bearings and then use gear oil after closing the gear box and wht type of

Where can I find the yellow and blck diaphram part to buy
my znen 150cc F-4 scooter tops out at about 42 mph on level road and drops to 20-25 going up hills. Even up on the stand max rpm is about 5500 (no where near the red line). I took it to a shop and all they did was change out the spark plug and fluids. I've noticed a deposit of black carbon out of the exhaust - so I'm assuming one problem is too rich.(it was set up at sea level and I'm at 3500 ft elevation). I removed the inspection cover and sure enough there is a diaphram cover - so i will be adjusting the pin this afternoon. Is there anything else I might consider doing to increase the performance? Thanks!
So the main jet is for full throttle, and the needle controls mid rev ranges? What about when you also have a pilot jet? Wouldnt that make the needle shimming not necessary?

my carb has bolts that try to keep me out of the carb so I either replace bolts or buy a new carb

Yes, the Main jet is full throttle..The needle is thin at the tip and get's fatter on the way up allowing more fuel out the main jet. The Pilot jet is your idle and begging rpm's so no the shimming helps,shimming is not related to the Pilot jet in anyway.

Thanks for the video. Big help! This may seem like a stupid question but how in the world did you get the cap back on w/ the spring in place? No matter how hard I try the spring slumps out the side or goes in bent to the side and not compressed straight? Sorry if this is a stupid solution...I am just biffing on this one! Thanks in advance!
When you install the spring there is a lip on the bottom that you put it in, then pretty much just compress. Maybe your spring is bent and is causing it to shift? It shouldn't be that difficult.

ok.. so I have a 2014 50cc Tao Tao.. i had the 100cc big bore kit put on it yesterday.. well it was actually a fresh rebuild and I'm wondering.. if I do this with the jet and exhaust but ill be using k&n .. Will I really tell a difference?
Hell yes you should have also bored out the intake and exhaust ports. Then install a 105 main jet, a 65 pilot and move the needle all they way up. 70mph with final drive gear up grade. Giddy up

The scooter topped out at 53mph on a flat road, I haven't tested it on a flat road yet, The road that I could only get upï»ż to 46-47mph I now hit 51+mph.Thanks Freddy.

Hi there. I used your uploads to fit a big bore kit to my Baotian scooter and it works great! Many thanks for the heads up. Just wondering if you could do an upload on how to bypass a kickstand switch? I have a green and and black wire. Have tried all sorts of different joining/earthing/battery combos but no joy.
Hey man, I don't know if you ever fixed your switch, but, that switch is either closed or opened depending on what position the kickstand is in, so I don't know which position it is in, but, open the circuit, i.e. don't connect the wires or butt splice the two wires together. One or the other will take care of it.

That is more of a fine-tuning trick not necessarily going to make you faster. With a CV carb you can trim some off the spring to get the slide to pull up faster. You need an extra set of springs to find out how much you need to take off
At 2:07 also think it could quite possibly be the float valve or main jet

I call it a jesus clip. Mostly because when removing the clip it always seem to spring out of my grip, and it's so small I say jesus where did it go.
All I did with mine was change the weights and it went from 36 mph to 49 mph no lye. So other than a big bore kit just change the weights. Or barring kits. They have different kits also a lighter kit for faster acceleration or heavy weights for top end. I opted for the heavy weights and didn't notice a difference in take off but she went 50 on the speedo and my friend followed me in his car and told me I was doing 48 to 50 steady and downhill much faster but to fast and I was scared ide start to death wobble.

i tried to do this on my taotao 2015 zummer 50cc and instead of going faster , it goes way slower. When i oppened it, i notieced that the needle can go up or down so i putted back together and its slow. WHY??????? PLEASEEEE HELLPPP

Put it back the way it was before and in the meantime check and clean your spark plug. If the mix got way to rich and it seems like it. The spark plug by now should be quite black. ;-)

Its a 50cc and it used to do 0-30mph easy and now goes 0-20 slowly its max was 50mph and now id be lucky to get up to 30mph

you need to change the rollers and jets if you want it to go faster
you should rejet the carb it helps a lot but I do no one thing most people are starting to see is rejecting depending on elevation and climet make a huge difference since all bikes are jeted for china and not the us and canada

Leave the needle at default setting unless you do some jetting on the main jet..
Ajaxaxxess . I disagree. Nearly all Japanese motorcycles suffer from an off-idle lean spot. Taking the needle up one notch should help this. In other words, the clip will move down one notch, towards the pointed end. This will absolutely solve that lean spot. Some call it a flat spot. A lot of carbs do not use adjustable needles like this one, so put a one millimeter thick washer on for a stock bike, or two for an aftermarket exhaust, etc. Play with that to your liking. Idle speed will need to be adjusted after this.
Ever give your bike the throttle from a dead stop, feel it pull, and then it dogs out for a second before picking back up again? That is what I am talking about when I say flat spot or off-idle lean spot.
Everyone, please realize that carburetors are jetted for the region the motorcycle is sent to (from the factory), taking into account for elevation, etc. Having worked at a few motorcycle dealers, I know that the bikes are just assembled and sold without fiddling with the mixture. Carbs are a compromise, or controlled leak. So that in mind, set it up for how it runs best in the area that you live!

You can do some changes to the CVT lighter rollers in the variator and higher stall springs like 1500 rpm in the clutch
