  • (Part 1) The Williamson River just outside of Klamath Falls, OR has a thriving Redband Trout population and a few days ago I had a chance to fish it with a local Kayak Fisherman named Dean. Dean has put in countless hours on this River getting to know the fishery. His passion for the fisheries in the Klamath Basin and Kayak Fishing in general is contagious. I had a blast fishing with Dean and I learned a ton about Redband Trout and the Williamson River.

    AWESOME video Chris. That river was so beautiful, your video looked like a postcard. I could not believe the size of the first trout your friend caught. I was pulling for you the whole time and I was glad you landed that beauty. Can't wait for part 2.

      Well, that is good to know I guess. Makes me want to try to put myself out there a little more and stop hiding behind the camera!

    Chris, pretty Awesome. Love those big trout. I was thinking about battery life and you answer my question. I live up north in Willamette Valley. I am trying to change jobs right now so I can spend more time fishing. Your videos make me excited for next year. Do you keep any to eat. I think that is eat part of fishing is the eating at the end. Great Job.

      Thanks for watching Perry. I really wanted to keep a few trout from this trip but the Williamson is Catch and Release. We were planning on hitting Klamath Lake as well and you can keep 1 daily from there but we stuck to the River.

    You really need to cook some of those, that water is incredibly clean

      I really wanted to but that is a Catch and Release River per the rulebook. :(

      Out West with Chris nice maybe I'll see you out there haha. if you ever get a chance fish the wood river. at Kimball park I hooked into a 7 pound redband and he fought hard. I never eat the fish out of the rivers or lake though because they taste really bad. their native and the pea soup they live in at Klamath lake doesn't help lol

    • @Outwestwithchris1
      @Outwestwithchris1  Před 7 lety

      the_hydra92 yeah maybe we will run into each other. I fish with a guy named Dean from KFalls when I am up there. he keeps telling me the Wood is a good spot as well. (Dean is the guy in the vid)

    That was a steelhead dude!

    • @Outwestwithchris1
      @Outwestwithchris1  Před 7 lety

      Nick Thorn it looks like one but technically not because these don't make an ocean run. They go between Klamath Lake and several rivers that flow into the lake. When they are in the lake they often lighten up in color, once they come back into the rivers they get their redish, iridescent coloring back.

      @trashfishtvoregon7290 Před 7 lety

      Out West with Chris wow that's amazing!! it reminds me of the great lakes steelhead who migrate up the tribs every fall out of the lakes and they're as big as an ocean going Steelie. anyhow, those look like a blast way to go 👌👏

    Why does every kyak fishing video have this terrible dub step music

    • @Outwestwithchris1
      @Outwestwithchris1  Před 5 lety

      I've pretty much stopped using this kind of music in videos but the reason why you hear it so much is it is royalty free music. I've attempted to find decent royalty free music but most of it sucks, if you have any suggestions I'm all ears.
