Almost moved to Valdez last year for a job! Biggest regret is not being there every year to watch this!

Apart from taking off and landing in very short lengths…what’s the point of these aircraft?

Around 86% of Alaska's communities CANNOT be reached by the road system. These aircraft work in the backcountry region of Alaska, performing vital air transportation services to the off-grid and off-the-road system communities, year round. This also means unimproved air strips and sometimes VERY short pieces of land, obscured by surrounding trees and terrain. Aviation is an essential part of living in Alaska, where everyday life depends on air transportation. Alaska Pilots operate these aircraft to move people, life sustaining/essential cargo and fuel all over Alaska.
