Hell's horses: "We do not engage in batchall with the dregs of a dead clan" Jade Falcon: "And we won't surrender to the waiting line at the glue factory."
Jade Falcons actually finding Honor again is nice, but damn it will take time. Malvina was a true monster and were I a person in universe aware of the Falcons acts throughout the Dark Age by second hand rumors, let alone a survivor of their brutality. I would never trust them again and move against them whenever possible. You said it yourself: the Smoke Jaguars of the Invasion Era would recoil at Malvina’s Falcons.
"Either you die a villain or live long enough to become the plucky underdog... wait what?" Truly continuing to be the Vegeta of the Clans, even trying to redeem after Geneva would yell to throw away the key. Time will tell what's in store for the fledgling flock of a forsaken nest, but it sounds like they're set to continue having compelling stories. I hope the Falcons and the AML hang around for some time yet.
Fell in love with the Falcons with the Jade Phoenix trilogy. Sounds like a worthy sucessor to that celebrated trilogy. Cant wait for more of these classic but new Falcons.
I have found Bryan Young’s writing to be … tepid but maybe it has just been building toward something bigger. I kind of felt the same way as I was reading the twilight of the clans series. BigRed you have convinced me to stick with it! I will buy this book and read it. But if I don’t like it I am going to request Batchall!
Its always nice when an IP gives complexity to characters in factions that are "villainous." Sounds like a good read. Will have to see about picking it up sometime.
Great video, I usually like the older era’s, but this was quite nice. I have a question though, I was just wondering if you’ve made A video about the Kintaro. I can’t find one.
I did, but I'd used some art with permission from someone else, who for various reasons requested that I cease using said art. So, the video had to get pulled sadly.
Great review, just picked up a copy! I have been more interested in the Jade Falcons (might be my favorite clan now, sorry Steel Vipers) recently and this will scratch that itch, thanks again BigRed!
I finally got around to reading A Question of Survival because this book was coming up, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll be picking up Without Question soon, and I'm looking forward to it
im not a book reader, but like your reviews , as it make me think that some adya , when im can retire, i may put the time into them, but up till that day. im glad you do them so i can ge a tast of what im missing
Finished up the book yesterday, and greatly enjoyed it. Bryan Young has done a magic trick here. I've hated the Falcons since 1990, and now I'm excited to read more about them. Here's to hoping for more stories about this unique Khan and the rebirth of one note villains to interesting protagonists. Green Bird strong!
You know, the talk about how brutal the Jade Falcons are got me thinking, there's a part of me, that would love to see a story - just a one off story or something similar - of a high end noblebright sci-fi like, say, Star Trek happening upon Battletech. Those kind of crossover fanfictions when done well are a guilty pleasure of mine. Never seen one involving Battletech though.
@@BigRed40TECH I figured as much, never really got the impression you'd be one for exploring fan content in that way. It was more a thought of a flight of fancy that struck me when you talked about the green murder chickens. lol Out of curiosity, have you ever read any Battletech fanfiction? They're fairly rare, but there are a couple of decent reads out there.
It should be available for Print on Demand through Amazon today, or within a few days :) Also, if you want signed copies, Bryan should have those on offer too!
I will have to revisit this after I have read it. Have prior read Tamar Rising and Dominions Divided. Long been up on the sourcebooks and TROs and such. But only recently getting into the novels to focus on individual characters. Currently on 'A Question of Survival' and loving it. Picked up 'Without Question' and 'Fox Tales' and looking forward to them. Always been a Star Adder fan. However, as they are sidelined in the Homeworlds, have also been drawn heavily towards the Jade Falcons. Between these novels and the new ilClan 'Mechs, really enjoying this new Clan Jade Falcon. Really hard not to champion these folks, until such time my stellar snakes again appear.
I'm curious, would you ever consider doing a video on battletech's fanfiction. I can see reasons not to, by definition it strays outside canon and it's a problematic area legally, but at the same time it is one of the areas of the fandom that kept going even through the dark ages of the last 20 years.
I don't think so. I have done one homebrew video on the channel, but I'm not really gonna follow other folks homebrew stuff. Expect maybe one video a year from me, and that's about it. lol
What does It even mean in this scifi context? Do you even know the buzzwords you use? It doesn't even tackle topics which could be easily linked to contemporary issues
Hm? The channel's not known for novel reviews, this is in-line with most of them that I've ever done. Only one did better, which was ironically, about a Bryan Young novella called Giving up the Ghost, Which got around 7 or 8 thousand views. I do these things because I want to, not because I think they're going to shatter records lol

I actually finished my video first. But I always do video launches between 9 and 12 PST.

Big Reds response UMMMMM ACTUALLY
It's worth the read.
Completely agreed.
Just about to watch your video TRUE JADE TURKEY FOREVER
Thank you so much for the kind review! It is really great to see analysis that reflects the things I was trying to accomplish in the story.
It was an extremely fun read, and I enjoyed the adventure you took the Falcon's down. I look forward to their next outing. :)

As is only true for Jade Falcon, we are bloodied, we are beaten and we may fall, but like the Phoenix we always rise to greatness again and again.

I had a few questions.
Will you do a review for "Far Country 2" when it comes out?
Thank you for branching out and thing new things.
I'm happy to do it. :)
I'm only watching through the spoiler free portion till I read this for myself.

I would consider this a serious beginning to a Jade Falcon "redemption" arc.
Yeah, this is as much a story about planets and machinery as it about legacy and finding ways forward. Fantastic points
Without Question is a strong recommendation without question - because it has nothing to do with the Great Almighty Alaric Ward
It's easier to recommend books that don't have Wolves in them tbh lol
Sounds like a good book. Glad to hear better clan stories may be on the way.
Sounds like a great book! Thanks for the review Red!
Any time! Big recommended from me. :)
Thank you for engaging with the narrative and characters in your review. More effort then stuff I have seen in the some places out there.

Will you be doing more novel reviews?
Possibly even older novels and how the lore and writings are different than the more modern releases
The plan is to do more, yes, including some on older books too.

Gotta ask, what mech is that that you always show at the end of your videos and the one you use for your profile thumbnail?
It's a custom mech for the channel. The mascot.
@@BigRed40TECH Cool.
Watched the non spoiler part because I want to read it.
Makida Malthis wearing a black armband? did they steal that from the Battlestar Galactica remake prequel Caprica?
Didn't watch that far into BSG.

You dare question this book? Where's Greta?
Getting into battletech as a gen z is tough, everytime this mf says sawcon i cannot help but crack a smirk.
I didn't invent the term Sakhan to be clear :P
I will pick this book up when I can. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I like this lot of falcons
could the BattleTech verse realistically survive in Warhammer 40K? if so how well would they do? have yet to see any youtuber discuss the topic
There is no reason to, they are entirely different universes. Different rules. Different approaches. Different scales. They aren't comparable.
Release the paperbacks!!!! Lol

what’s!? How do we get one of those?! I can show my painted falcons if I have to lol
