This is a short video I thought was worth sharing from some footage I took during a recent visit to Stonehaven to see my Dad. It's not my usual kind of upload, but rather a wee bonus! I hope you enjoy...

Forgot to add - the main piece of music in this video is 'Deeper than the Ocean' by Bonnie Grace (courtesy of epidemicsound.com) Hope you enjoy the video, please let me know in the comments below, and thanks for watching :)
Funny you added this.
Had my daughter Shazam the music on your vid. Added Bonnie Grace to our Spotify. ❤❤❤
p.s. Her music and your vidography made me cry the first time I saw this.
@@monicalifornia_ I’m the man to come to for tears 🤣 glad you like the music - it’s always tricky to find something that fits so well!
Though very beautiful to watch, the music made you video in my opinion, thanks so much!
Ah, to have been there in some waterproof clothing and armed with a tall mug of a hot beverage, watching those waves roll in... Heaven on Earth! Thanks for sharing this, Steve. It was captured wonderfully and the musical accompaniment was perfect. 10/10.
Just found this older video. Beautiful. The ocean is magnificent.
Just what we all need at this moment, a reminder of what's good in life. Far away from any depressing news, and a wonderful video to escape it all. Thank you, just what I needed to watch, after hearing my family cannot be with me this year.
I'm glad it arrived at a perfect time for escaping this weird reality :)
How blessed you are to live in such a beautiful place.
It really is a lovely town, although this kind of weather is all too common 🤣 thanks for watching!
Oh how different Stonehaven looks and “feels” to when I visited on a balmy day where ice cream was the order of the day. The power of the North Sea is both beautiful and frightening. Thank you for posting. 👍😀
A powerful video with Mother Nature at work. The music was beautiful and haunting with the waves crashing in. I have so much respect for the water. Awesome video thank you for sharing 🤗
What a beautiful place! Love seeing the water and the storm rolling in. Thank you!
Refreshing! I love watching an angry sea, not so much if I'm afloat on it, though! The North Sea obviously hadn't read the notice about "Removing shingle from the beach". Not many ice creams sold that day, I imagine.
Cheers Hugh! Ha funny that the ice cream shop was still open though and thought 'aye, we'll stick the signs oot' :D Ohhh imagine being out on a boat in that!?
No words can describe how amazing this was.
❤❤❤
Cheers Monica! :)
Mother Nature is something else...reminds me of our BURA stormy weather which pops up on the Adriatic Coast (Croatia) . Enjoying your wonderfully executed videos and love of your country and music selection. ☕
Thank you for the video. We live on the Prairies so I always find the waves fascinating!
Nice one! Thanks so much for watching! :)
Gorgeous. Many thanks, Steve.
Thanks so much! Hopefully filming there again this weekend :)
Mate I’ve been living in California now for almost ten years. Never thought I’d miss Scotland like I do. Thanks for the videos
Ahh glad I can bring back some memories! But wow - California - you are one lucky man John!
I'm also in California. I SO miss Scotland! Time for a homecoming, I think! Thanks for this great video.
I'm exactly the same except that I'm in Massachusetts. Been here for nearly 60yrs and only been back home 3 times. Still miss Scotland terribly.
Id sit there with a bottle of cider and enjoy the waves. Nice video.
Sounds perfect! 👌🏼
Ah Stonehaven, I've got many happy memories there. A wee shot of the Bay Chippie, I'm fair famished.
I've spent a lot of time in the long queues at that chippie!
Well done. I love videographies like this. Great music selection. Thank you.
Thanks very much Lara! :)
A typical Scottish summers day at the seaside....
Very evocative - I've lived in the sun in Western Australia for 15 years near the beach and still sometimes pine for a bit of weather from home or for example the view across Loch Lomond.
Cheers Graeme, keep watching for more :)
My ancestry DNA results updated recently. I'm 49 percent Scottish!!!
I've always loved bagpipes. Now I know why. Cant wait to visit.
Cold damp weather like Seattle has always appealed to me as well.
Haha me too! Love Seattle! Welcome to life as a true Scot! 🏴
Thoroughly enjoyed this Steve and have subscribed to your channel. I worked at Stonehaven station in the early days of my railway career and although I'm now in Yorkshire I still enjoy the train journey along the coast there when I visit friends in Aberdeen. Many thanks.
Hope I brought back some memories - I hope to be filming there again this weekend :)
I really enjoyed that Steve. Nice choice of music and some beautiful clips of the power of nature. It made quite a mess of the beach. Very different to the last time we were there so thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks very much :) Yeah, so much wood washed up on the beach, wish I had the talent to make something out of it all!
Nice, we went to Stonehaven for lunch in 2017 from Aberdeen. We enjoyed our bus trip back to Aberdeen with all the young local people having a night out on the town.
Whilst being a rep for Ronseal nearly 45 years ago, when covering Aberdeen and the North East, I used to stay at the Marine Hotel on the Stonehaven harbour. In the winter in those days you had a one bar electric fire in the bedroom, bloody baltic ! Changed days now ! 👍
Haha sounds a lot like places I have stayed too! :) hopefully a proper blog coming from Stonehaven I’m not too distant future - if the weather is a bit calmer :)
Yep I also covered the UK for Salters/ Avery - had a few nights over the years stopping at that hotel ....nice beer and food around there after a long day ...retired 16 months ago missed The travelling...never thought I’d say that now....goof film and music
Taking a day of crappy weather and making a beautiful video of it is evidence of skill, Mate!
That *was* beautiful!
Thanks so much! It was very tricky to film, constantly wiping salty water from the lens! Really appreciate the feedback :)
Loving this , awesome footage , my friend stays there , brings back memories
Cheers Chris! Hopefully filming there again this weekend
Wow...so good, fantastic music and editing. Thank you 👍
Cheers! :)
October 2019-loved my day there!weather wet cold and cloudy.enjoyed a fish supper from best fish supper place in Scotland.Charming downtown.
Aw, beautiful video Steve! I miss Stoney! It’s stunning on a stormy day like this! Bet there wasn’t a queue for ice cream! 😆
Haha but they were still open which was funny :D
Another top class video. Nature in the raw shown to great effect. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Julian! :)
Brilliant video, we are up at the end of August for a couple of nights. Looking forward to it, thanks 😊
Beautiful, as is the music.. I love storms, thank you.
Thanks so much!
Lovely again👍👍❤️
Great video, I am homesick. I cant wait to come back the Raw beauty of Scotland.
Cheers mate! Hope you get back sooooooon!
I love Stoney. Have such great childhood memories of spending time there throughout the 80s, mostly at the harbour or in the outdoor pool. Beautiful in all weathers.
Cheers Paul! I was there late 80s, with similar memories! :)
beautiful. thank you.
Brilliant video! Loved the music too! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers Bill, it’s tricky to find the right music, but this one worked well :)
I was in Stonehaven last week. I walked along the cliffs, past the war memorial to Dunnottar Castle. The weather was a bit better then.
Different but good different. Just down the road from me. Nice one Steve 👍🏼
Cheers Danny! Back in Stoney this weekend so hopefully a proper vlog this time !
OMG I don't think I've ever seen anything more beautiful...I just love the sea....we can never overstate the beauty and power of mother nature.
It's incredible to watch Yvonne, and was even stormier last week, but I didn't have a camera with me!
It us amazing when we get to see these waves being close to the beach.
I live in Dawlish so I have my fair share of wave watching. 😃.
Thanks for your video.
Thanks Stephen
That is an amazing video Thanks for sharing 💚
And thanks so much to you for watching! :)
What a stunning video !
Cheers Jim! Appreciate it :)
Great video ! and music it’s 4:40 am I’m so glad to be in bed !
Haha thanks Francis!
Gave me goosebumps and live in coastal BC Canada. Excellent cinematography perfect music. Love the powerful waves fighting their way up the beach as the winds tear away their tops. Beautiful
Thanks Steve
👍😎🐺🐾
And thanks to You Ian!!! Coastal BC - I am officially very jealous! :)
Thanks Steve, happily watch more of that sort of thing. Love watching the sea.
Hah me too! Even on that day I was out for hours :) cheers!
thank you, thank you, thank you !
And to You! :)
Just revisited again, you really pick up the atmosphere of the day with the Video supported by the excellent music. Well done ! Its a real favorite of mine.
Thanks so much Robert!
Yes I enjoyed it , thanks for that !
Nice scenery and music!
Thanks :)
another cracking vid well done bonny lad watch oot for the tar buckets
Haha noted! :)
I found your channel about 4 weeks ago and enjoy all your vids so keep them coming and omg i do hope no 1 parked there car on the seafront when the storm it
Cheers, welcome aboard and glad you're enjoying it! Oh yeah, I've seen some cars take chances there, but imagine if you had no idea and parked there overnight or something!? All the salt alone would do some lasting damage!
i only hope someday i can live somewhere this beautiful. thanks for the video, one can feel that it was made with love!
Thanks so much! Hope to make another video from there very soon!
I’ve only recently found your Vlogs Steve...I find them really interesting and this one is v atmospheric...thank you😀👌🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much Kevin!
I went to Stonehaven a few years before this, wonderfull ,stayed a few days at Stone Hoosie next to Lifeboat does not look like it is there any more, would love to come back, .....loved the back ground music
Thank you, Steve, making me miss Scotland all the more.
Haha it's a pleasure :) Thanks for watching Nancy!
Don't know how i rambled on to this but it is an absolutely gorgeous video! Thank you sir. New subscriber from Ireland.
Thanks so much for the support - welcome aboard!
The Majesty of Mother Nature... :-)))
So true! Thanks for watching :)
Your vids always send me to google maps and street view. What a pretty country Scotland is.
Cheers Marty! :) planning a proper one from Stonehaven this weekend, if the weather improves at all!
Gorgeous, even on a bad day
Totally agree Suzie :)
Great images - and I loved the music. Thanks for posting.
Thanks so much Adrian! I'm rubbish at choosing music, but this one fits well :)
Removing shingle from the beach prohibited!
I’d best bring my souvenir pebble back 😮
That was great Steve. When I'm near the ocean, I'm always gripped by its power.
You and me both! Just glad I wasn't out in a boat :) Thanks for the comments Peter :)
You are blessed with some beautiful scenery, well filmed, and the music makes your video.
Thanks so much Robert! All the best to you!
Brrrr that looks cauldron. Great vid.
Cheers Eric!
Thanks very much for sharing this. I always really enjoy your videos 😀
Thanks so much! This one a wee bit different, glad you enjoyed!
Another great video
Thanks Jim!
Beautiful!
I Love the sea in a rage as long as I'm not on it.
The RNLI doesn't .
I grew up in Portlethen,me and my friends used to fish Stonehaven harbour 🎣
Nice! Still a few folks casting lines from the harbour :)
Beautiful video. Reminds me of Lake Michigan in late fall early winter before the ice forms. Truly breathtaking!
Thanks so much! Ohhh I love Lake Michigan :)
Fantastic filming guys.
Thanks very much! Tricky in that wind!
@@steve-marsh I'll bet it was mate.
That’s lovely. Great choice of music. Thanks.
Thanks Andrew!
The power of Mother Nature can never be underestimated, loved the video and the music choice was perfect👌
Thats far ah'm fae!! Ah i mind working at the restaurant and the waves bashin' the windae
at least it brings you some wood from Norway. The west part of Scotland is not so lucky. I have got problem to find some wood for bonfire on Rum or Coll. Love you videos. Cheers!
I have a feeling the local council workmen are busy folk clearing up often in the winter Steve.😀
Yeah true! :) they get their fair share of dodgy weather in Stonehaven so they’ll be used to it :)
Absolutely fantastic. A stunning video and the music was also amazing and suited so well. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers Sean!
This will be my new 'help me to sleep video'. Awesome video showing the power of a storm. Thank you
Aww thanks Sandra :) I wish I could have included some actually sea audio but my camera mic couldn't handle the 65mph wind! :)
@@steve-marsh The music was perfect to your video, so relaxing. I am sure there are many, many people out there who would also benefit from watching and listening to your relaxing video. You are very professional.
@@sandraholmes7002 thanks so much! 😊
That was ace Steve, real drama from the sea and music worked so well. We love Stonehaven, stayed at the campsite a couple of weeks ago and vlogged it, even tried the deep fried Mars...yuk!
Good stuff, I'll need to check it out! I had my first deep fried mars bar a couple of weeks ago too - I must admit I thought it was okay, but it was just a spontaneous curiosity decision, I won't be buying again! Cheers!
Very good stuff. Thank you.
Cheers Ian!
Just love your Scottish videos Steve, feel like I'm also on the journey. So uplifting. Can't wait to return to these places I miss so much. Thankyou, its much appreciated. X
Thanks again so much Margaret, an absolute pleasure!
A beautiful location and some wonderful videography.
Thanks very much Alex - it was tricky to film in 60-70mph winds, so appreciate the comment!
Amazing video Steve....awesome ocean footage.....reminds me very much of my home town of Pouch Cove, NL with the same sort of scenery, cliffs & churning sea in a storm!!
No way Bob! That’s soo cool you’re from Pouch Cove!!! We did the ECT through hike from Portugal Cove to Cappahayden in 2018 and Pouch Cove was our 2nd night, camped up on the coast! We were so happy to see our first store there! The happiest memories and we aim to repeat, this time as a CZcams video, and maybe taking our time a bit more (9 days was a push!) love love love NL, the friendliest people we have ever met!
Thank you for sharing! I went through there a few years ago, wish I could have stayed longer, hope to get back. I'm new to your channel, liking what you do. thanks!
Thanks so much! Hopefully filming there again this weekend!
That was great, you must’ve had some great gear to protect yourself whilst filming! The rain we got here last night seems like nothing compared to what you experienced. 😀
It was very tricky and was more worried about protecting the camera than myself 🤣 every time I turned the camera into the wind, the lens was covered in salt! So was relieved to have enough footage to patch together a wee video!
Beautiful place!
Greetings from quarantined Greece 🇬🇷
Thanks for watching as always Giorgos!
@@steve-marsh It is always my pleasure because you are a very kind person and your vlogs are very interesting.(I apologize for my English)
It's a bonny toon wae a couple of great chippies!
So true :) I've had a few too many of them!
Awesome video! I never knew you were from Stonehaven
Cheers! Well, just high school (Mackie) but it’s always the place I call home :)
Great music with this video
Cheers Brian!
WOW
Enjoyed this video,
Too Many Sticks , Too Few Dogs
Well said :D
Excellent! And Bonnie's music has just gone on to my most favourite of all playlists on Spotify :) And checking out her other pieces as I type.
I’ll need to do the same - I hope to feature her on future videos :)
Cracking video, Steve. Eeish, the North Sea certainly looked angry. Hope there was not any major damage to your village.
Cheers! No, it coped fine with it, but Stonehaven is quite prone to flooding - they are doing a lot of work at the moment though to counter it.
"The best way to avoid sea sickness is to sit under a tree" Spike Milligan.
Beautiful! 😂
Stonehaven is such a beautiful place i have a caravan here at the bowling club caravan park and i absolutely love it and the bay chipper is the best chipper going and then u have an ice cream from aunt bettys as a dessert
Oh my favourite main course and dessert :) Great place to have a caravan, would be awesome on a stormy day like this!
@@steve-marsh yeah its amazing when its stormy nothing beats the rain battering off a caravan
@@scottishsoldier130 totally agree!
That was completely brilliant. Well done Steve.
Thanks so much Marcus, really appreciate it! :)
relaxing for sure! is there good surf there when its more calm and less debris?
Yes, see a lot of people out on boards normally!
Much rather just listen to the waves!
So what's with this sudden rash of non-plane videos Steve ? Anyone would think there were some sort of limitations on people flying anywhere at the moment. Oh wait a minute ......... !!
Actually I found this one very calming - the shots of that rough sea & the excellent choice of music was simply terrific - well done ! 😎👍👍
Haha Cheers Stephen :D Ohhh looking forward to a wee flight again sometime, ANYwhere!
What a picture perfect town. Look so cold . I mentioned this before the local girls in their summer uniforms , me in 3 layers of clothes & still bloody freezing. I wonder how the same girls would react being dropped into a 40 plus Melbourne with a dry furnace like Northerly wind blowing in from the hottest part of Australia,
Haha that’s so true! 😆
great footage . You did an awesome job. Nicely done. You just got a big like from me and a new subscriber here.
Welcome aboard! Cheers! 😊
