I bought one as you were emitting your review I was opening the box. UT after only few hours impression am not going to keep it I'll have to stick to older model .

I've been wearing the 5 pro since my pre-order arrived a couple days before official release. Still miss the rotating bezel and overall classic look of my Silver 4 classic, but the improved battery alone is worth the trade off to me.
I'm a recreational mechanic, and my 5 has been banged into various metal surfaces under car hoods, gotten splashed with various oils/chemicals, and still looks great with only a couple minor scratches on the casing you can't see without a close up inspection. Overall I'm satisfied, but I also got it free with my Fold 4 pre-order and was able to keep my watch 4 classic. So I have the best of both worlds, the 5 I can wear multiple days without charging, and the 4 classic with it's sweet rotating bezel and overall classier look.
So, real quick: I have owned the Galaxy Watch 3, 4, and now the 5 Pro. I have worn the 5 Pro for just over two weeks. This week I have started to use it for running workouts (normally I use the Garmin Epix 2). One weird quirk I found using the watch for my morning run today is that it failed to track about half a mile worth of running on the map. It accounted for the correct total number of miles run. However, when I looked at the map within the Samsung Health app, the first .5 mile was not apparent - as if I started my run from some other house (weird). I have read elsewhere, that - unlike the Garmin Fenix or Epix line - the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro does not make one wait until it grabs onto the proper satellites. When I use the Garmin Epix 2, it will ask me to wait if I want an accurate track of my run (you can take off right away, but initial run accuracy will suffer until it connects with the proper satellites). All the Samsung watch asks, once you click on the "Running" function, is a 3 second countdown and I can't imagine them latching on to the proper number of satellites that quickly. So far, that's the only critique I have. Otherwise, I love the design, and - especially - the battery life.
I’ve heard about slight inaccuracies in fitness tracking before and I will try to test a workout for two before my one month review so thanks for the heads up…

Yes it's tracking is inaccurate plus touch the screen with sweaty hands and it will not work. The Physical Rotating Bezel has to come back and the delays and Glitches are a deal breaker for me. I was laying in bed and had 12 steps already which was wrong because I haven't gotten out of bed after midnight

I won't be surprise if Samsung released a watch 5 ultra with a rotating Bezel alongside it's S 23 Galaxy series of phones.

i'm on the fence, i'm still using my old watch active 2 after using the s3 frontier and while i miss the physical bezel from the s3 and s2 before it the touch bezel is at least a solid and functional alternative
not even getting a touch responsive spinning bezel is pretty disappointing but what i really want to know is if i can use all my old purchased watch faces on the new wear os based watches
Here i am, still sticking with the watch active 2, ended up returning my watch 4 classic due to the battery. Instead i got aftermarket accessories for my active 2 and still love every bit of it.
I purchased the 5. I miss the rotating bezel. Why did they remove it? We waited for years for them to give us google assistant. Better battery is great. Screen also looks brighter. Overall I like it.

I love my watch 5 pro. I dont think samsung being an eco system watch is a bad thing as most companies are coming out with their own device ie...pixel, Apple. I personally like the design. The size isn't all that bad and is actually smaller than the watch 4 classic which is 46mm not 45. People wear these gigantic Invicta watches anyway. The battery is hella dope. Build material is excellent titanium and sapphire glass for under 500 bucks. You can always get the regular watch 5 if you want a classier look. Awesome video as always. Love the "pro ultra" comment. I was thinking that same between apple and samsung.
What phone are you using this with?

I am keeping my Samsung watch 4 classic, love the rotating bezel. At this point I'm used to charging every day and a half. Would I like a better battery, yes, but at this point I'm staying in the rotating bezel era lol.

I just wish I didn't have to take it off everyday to charge. I'd like to take advantage of the tracking more than 22 hours a day. But I guess once every 2-3 days might be an inconvenience also. There's a great deal at Samsung's website on the 5 LTE for $230 with a watch 3 as a trade-in. They'll take any smart watch as a trade but give you less. The 4 will bring the cost down even futher, but I had a 3 laying around.
Pretty late reply here but I had a Galaxy watch 3 as my first ever real watch. It was great and I wore it all the time without being too worried about damaging it because of the huge bezel. I got the watch 5 right away since I wanted an upgrade and I miss the bezel but I knew about that before getting it. Unfortunately, I feel like it's far more susceptible to getting cracked and scratched so I don't wear it when I'm doing something extreme that will easily damage it, whereas I would've worn my 3 because of the bezel.
Also something I'm becoming mildly unhappy with is the battery life. As I said I never had a traditional watch so I was used to charging it every night just like my phone. Now that I'm getting into Casio watches I never even thought about the idea of being able to leave it on 24/7, even in the shower if you wanted to. My f91w will run for years without a new battery which is appealing to me.
I'm saying this a couple of months into the Galaxy 5. I don't regret the upgrade from the 3 but I may try to get more into traditional digital watches as time progresses. At least a Gshock or something is affordable and tough enough to where I can wear it at work.
Greetings, can you reset pro 5 step counter to zero? Instead of automatic reset at midnight? Im trying to count steps on a cruise while exercising. The programs will track the ship movement and not me. Is there a way around this?
I have had the S3 & 4 Classic & I just recently purchased the GWP 5. The 3 was an absolute beast but she conked out on me. The 4 was nice but, it was too small for what I wanted so, I ended up trading it for the GWP 5. The GWP 5 doesn't disappoint. The battery life is phenomenal. I usually get 3 days out of it before having to recharge (and recharging is fast). I do miss the rotating bezel but, that would be the only negative that I have. There are to many positives to list here!!!
The Rotating bezel is cool and all, but I'm glad they got rid of it. When I was at the beach sand got in between the rotating bezel and started making a grinding sound.
I've been thinking about how hard I was on my OG galaxy watch now that I have GW4. I never had to think about being careful to avoid breaking the glass or even get a scratch. I really think it's thanks to the bezel. It took a beating over the years but the screen still looks pristine. So you're not the only one who is sad to see samsung drop it. If you break the glass, your watch is trash because it's often cheaper to just buy another one instead of repairing it. It's a win/win for Samsung but not so much for us. It's a shame we have to buy protective cases and screens for a damn watch.
The glass is recessed below the edge of the case for protection on the 5, plus it's hard sapphire, unlike the apple watch ultra. The Ultra uses sapphire too, but a poorer quality. The Ultra scratches much easier!
Have the 5 pro and love it, especially the 4 day battery life, do I miss the rotating bezel, absolutely not, I came from Garmin and never had it anyway 🤷♂️
I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra 256GB. Just bought my GWP 5 today. It should be here on Monday. I'm currently rockin' the GW 3. It's nice. Never had any issues with it, & the turning bezel is dope. Not a deal breaker for me. I was sold on the fact the Pro 5 has 5G/LTE connectivity. The 3 is just bluetooth enabled. This will be a worthy upgrade, I'm sure.

@@CJKnowsTECH Got my watch on Monday & I must say, Samsung stepped it up. I Love everything about this watch (so far). It's been off a full charge since yesterday morning at 4:30a PST. Took it off yesterday when I got home, but never powered it down. I'm currently at 59% battery life. 2 days 9 hrs left (per say). Had a few conversations it. I dig it!
That's exactly why I bought several watch protector cases and glass screen protectors for my Galaxy watch 5 and it's great and I can change the case according to my dress wear.

@@HotGates if you like huge watches .. then 5pro is goid. Thing us its plastic bottom is like a bump thats why its raises on wrist. But its body is wide the ends where bands attach dont wrap around arm thats why its big..
Back when they only released the Watch Active, we thought that was the end for the rotaring bezel. But it came back on the GW4.

Yes, the only difference is you’ll have to download the watchmaker app / companion app from the Google play store and not the Galaxy store since it runs on Google’s Wear OS and not Tizen

What watch face do you have on your Watch 5 Pro? I've always been a Samsung watch fan, but switched to a Garmin Fenix 7x after purchasing the Watch 4 Classic. I like the Watch 5 Pro, but I really wish Samsung would come out with a watch with a transreflective display, solar charging built into the display, and 5 plus days of battery... at least 5 DAYS.

I would personally go with watch 5 Pro, newer software better quality metal. Bigger battery, and you get used to the bezel, I know I did :)
Might as well go with the 5pro man. My classic is damaged and have to trade it in so I am going for that 5 day battery.
Came from gear s3 frontier and galaxy watch 3.. now on watch 5 pro. . mis the rotating bezel .. believe me the touch bezel sucks. Its always rotates back as i reach the end of the last icon when i touch and scroll the touch bezel.... but one thing i like is battery life. . And sideloading apks. And watch faces.. but has limited apps to sideload now
I bought it the 🔋 is awesome at least 3 days miss the rotary but overall still satisfy my wrist are bigger so it doesn't big as it is for him but love it so far
Moving from the S3 Frontier to the Watch 5 Pro and I am not impressed. TLDR; I want the Bezel back ASAP!!! I'm not buying another smart watch unless it has a bezel!
My Watch 5 Pro is just as laggy as my S3 Frontier, sensors still have issues working over 50% of the time I want them to take a reading even though the sensors are clean and I have the watch higher up on my wrist for a more accurate reading. Also, my Watch 5 Pro already has a very noticeable scratch on the non-button side but I got the Grey version instead of the Black so I'll take the hit there I guess but basically without the bezel, my whole experience on the watch is so much worse.
I almost want to put in the drawer and come back in a few years but I did that with my S3 Frontier and eventually I forced myself to come back to it and found a few things I can use a smart watch for beside just telling the time. Still I wouldn't think that a watch in 2022 would have the initial lag that the Watch 5 Pro has or any lag at this point if I am being honest. When I touch the bezel area at the 12 o clock position and move it clockwise, it will jump 3 or 4 pages over all at once instead of transitioning smoothly to each page. And it is really annoying because it wont start to recognize I am trying to use the bezel feature until I am past somewhere around the 3-5 o clock position and that is why I jumps so many pages but I don't know how to avoid the watch lagging that badly so I just swipe now.
Yeah the S3 Frontier had lagging issue as well with its bezel but at least I know the watch took the reading instead of me guessing if I am at the right angel or touching enough of the glass or if my finger has moved far enough around the simulated bezel to get it to recognize. Just my user experience so far
I returned Mines sadly. They have an issue when you use lte only mode with no phone connection your watch will not receive text messages or notifications. I called samsung no help called my provider tmobile and same thing nothing
I just can't get away from my frontier.. I love the bezel and by far the best looking edition they've made IMO. Frontier still gn strong and doin everything I need from it so I'll stick with it! :)

Had the watch y classic, but now love the watch 5 pro..Battery life is killer, watch seems to have for accurate metrics, and I actually like the looks better now.

I've had my gw5 pro over a month now, and the maximum battery life it lasts is 2 days and 12 hours only. I don't have AOD on, and definitely am not a heavy user of it. However, I suspect it could be due to google assistant set up on the watch, which shows to take 35-40% of battery in the battery setting.

Rotating bezel is only one more mechanical thing to break. There is no need to have that kind of staff. Future is in touch, or just buy analog watch, if you want some classic. Digital bezel is even more estetic.
Saying the rotating bezel is one more mechanical thing that could possibly break is a fair argument to a degree. I've owned every rotating bezel Samsung Watch and have never had an issue with there rotating bezel ever. To say "just buy an analog watch" totally disregards my want as a smartwatch consumer. I'm obviously wanting the smartwatch and not an analog watch, but when Samsung made a smartwatch that resembled the analog watch it was the best of both worlds but by removing it they ruined that for me and many other smartwatch consumers. You like it this way and that's perfectly fine but don't disregard another's complaint just because you're alright with it..
Ive had almost every samsung watch my only gripe is the lte can be useless or overheats with one phone call and they always add features that cant never get approved for use in the usa .

Samsung is selling it for $70 off and $190 trade-in with galaxy watch 3/$230 trade-in with watch 4. I ordered it today for $230. I'm looking forwards to it arriving!
I'm boycotting and not getting the 5 simply because the lack of the rotating bezel and I have upgraded and still have the older models of the classic.

Shoulda made the pro with the option of rotating bezel and ONLY that difference. I want so badly to upgrade from my watch 4 (non classic) but I wanted the rotating bezel and I wanted the 5 pro features and upgraded battery ..so annoying. ..may end up going Garmin or something.

Maybe they testing out the market for pro users and next time around we going to get 3 variations. Watch6, watch6 pro and watch6 classic.
It's not just a test it's also the marketing genius of Samsung they make people like you Force an upgrade every year and they make a killing on you next year when the Galaxy watch 6 pro comes out your watch 5 pro won't be able to hold a candle to it

I've been really enjoying the watch5 pro. I like the design and the heftiness of it so I'm one of those people😎 . I was having that connectivity issue when I first set up the watch I did a factory reset and I haven't seen it since and it's been working perfect. Overall it's a fantastic watch but definitely need a Samsung phone for those extra features as mentioned. I'm looking forward for my new phone at the end of this year but waiting for Black Friday!

Although I miss the rotating bezel, I'm really thinking about getting the watch 5 pro primarily because of the battery life! I'm slowly warming up to it! But I'm still going to keep my watch for classic. Something about the clicking of that rotating bezel that is so satisfying! Good work young man!
This Watch is glitchy and it takes delays to show that you are charging it. It freezes up and it also doesn't work in the gym when you are sweating. But ... I have the Apple Watch Ultra coming in October in the mailbox.
Also: Samsung gave Customers a smaller Z Fold 4 compared to the Larger Z Fold 3. And Apple gave Customers a Smaller Iphone 14 Pro Max compared to the Larger Iphone 13 Pro Max. Not sure why they are charging more while giving less. Smaller battery and smaller screens come with smaller phone! No one is talking about this but me, they just gloss over it.

I'm trying to understand the concept of the smart watch because I have a lot of samsung devices but I work outside I work on mainline cable for an internet provider I wear g-shocks cause they're durable and I would be pissed if I bought this watch and cracked it so I'm wondering if this watch is even for me

If you go to the beach with the watch 4 on and little grains of sand goes into the bezel sometimes the bezel won't work or the watch will not detect the movement of the bezel. Samsung isn't selling compatibility they are selling the Samsung Health package which is accessible throughout the entire ecosystem. That's how all the these other consumer appliance companies should market their stuff. Genius.

If your hands are small the ends of watch body dont wrap around you hand. The comeout. As the watch body is large.

My question, and it’s the reason I dropped Samsung period, is… can I make calls on LTE without my phone nearby without it overheating after 10 minutes, and going into emergency mode only?
uninstall some of those apps with adb.. I'm sure u can add another day to battery life

The bezel has always been pointless and was just there to make clicking noises for people to think they had a tag watch

Rotating bezel would be bad for a watch geared for outdoor activities, dust,sand etc
That what the regular watch 5 has always been for and the classic version has always had the bezel

Fitness is the biggest use for a smart watch for almost everyone. Apple Watch is also fitness based and is the main use for it.
See now this is where we agree to disagree I still don't believe that the watch5 pro has it over the watch4 classic and that's why I'm never going to get rid of it. As a pro watch yes it out beats the 4 classic... But the classic watch was never about trying to be pro it wasn't supposed to be tailored to the sports user and the fitness user it was tailored to the man that wanted a classic look with his classic attire. I cannot dress to impress with the watch5 I'm sorry but you would not see me wearing a nice suit but yet wear that watch... You know which one I'll be rockin on my wrist

Used ADB fastboot tools to remove unnecessary apps. Added realistic timepiece watch faces. Sent to Samsung for fresh new battery... I'm set for another yr or more easy
Maybe silly but I can not buy a Samsung watch because I prefer a square faces.

I hate that you can not use this watch as standalone like galaxy active 2 used to be.
To put things in perspective: Let's compare the Galaxy watch 4 to the Galaxy watch 5 pro.
The Galaxy watch 4 has the identical inner workings as the $450 pro version. Same CPU, ram and storage. 😁

Watch 5 pro battery life is better but watch 4 is more sleeker, slimmer. The pro 5 is bulkier and bigger. 😁
The back of the watch 5 pro is not titanium and the whole point to it is supposed to make you skin feel softer. 😁
And when you add one of those $20 plus watch cases it completely covers up the titanium so what's the point? Just to walk around and say "Hey I got titanium under my watch case and I'm proud" ? 😁

Saphire glass is is much more susceptible to impacts due to its brittleness, and can shatter just dropping from a measly height of 3 feet. 😁
Sapphire screens are bad for outdoor viewing as it's more reflective than glass, which means it'll be difficult to see the screen in sunny or bright conditions and a saphire screen will reflect almost twice as much light as ordinary glass. 😁
The Pandemic made companies cut corners by being cheap. That's why the issues with Samsung devices. So far my Iphone 14 Pro Max is holding up. Z Fold 4 has Glitches and a tiny dent near the Bezel on the Tablet mode screen. Smh 🤦🏾♂️ Samsung!

There is one rule about watches. And people think that bigger is better. The watch should not be wider than the wrist. Rather smaller than wrist bone. Tbh 5 pro looks like 60mm on your wrist.
Samsung bios, really after all these years it's still a discussion.? How about a apple bias? Since the Apple watch inception you cannot use an Apple watch on any other device except an Apple device. Samsung doesn't allow a few features to be used non Samsung devices and everybody's ready to march from Samsung. Samsung is only doing the same thing that Apple has been doing for a long time. Samsung wants you to use their ecosystem that means their tablets, their phones, their earbuds and yes they're watches. Just like Apple.
Con: It's too small for a grown man. It looks fine on this little boys girlish wrist. It looks absurd on mine.
