the last of us 2 cinematic scene of Tommy Visits Ellie and Dina, this will be a full cinematic scene. SPOILERS AHEAD, the last of us 2 cinematic scene.
The Last of Us Part II is a 2020 action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. Set five years after The Last of Us (2013), players control 19-year-old Ellie, who comes into conflict with a mysterious cult in a post-apocalyptic United States. The game contains survival horror elements and is played from a third-person perspective. Players can use firearms, improvised weapons, and stealth to defend against enemies and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus.
The Last of Us Part II is an action-adventure survival horror game played from the third-person perspective.Payers can use firearms, bows, improvised weapons, and stealth to defend against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus. The gameplay mechanics in Part II have also expanded upon its predecessor, The Last of Us. In it the player character can traverse the environment more openly by being able to reach higher vantage points by jumping and climbing while playing as the more nimble Ellie. Players can also crawl in a prone position to evade enemies. Throughout the game, players will have a non-player character assisting them. Additionally, large portions of the game are set in Seattle, Washington.
The game also sees the return of "Listen Mode" allowing players to locate enemies through a heightened sense of hearing and spatial awareness, indicated as outlines visible through walls and objects. Additionally, players can collect supplements to upgrade skills in a skill tree. The three main branches of the tree are Survival, Crafting, and Stealth. Survival upgrades improve health, Listen Mode's range, and throw distance. Crafting upgrades allow for melee upgrades, increase to Ellie's crafting speed, and the ability to craft smoke and stun bombs. Stealth upgrades improve prone movement speed, faster stealth kills, and unlock pistol silencers. Part II also introduces guard dogs that can track the player's scent.

@@karenwillreallyexposeyou8531 Just not a sequel in this direction IMO. Almost all of the elements of the first game take such a huge back seat that this is hardly recognisable as TLOU. Mini essay coming up if anyone gives a shit
The entire foundation of the emotions we feel from the first game is given to us entirely based on the relationship between Joel and Ellie, how they react to certain events, and how it affects their own relationship. In the sequel, these characters that we now understand deeply are either immediately discarded (Joel), changed so drastically without guiding us through that change in real time to ensure we still resonate with their feelings and experiences (Ellie) or go AWOL for most of the story (Tommy.) This cuts off this foundation entirely and we are expected to immediately be able to resonate with substitute characters like Abby, Owen, Jesse and Dina despite all the work they did to let us experience the lives of the cast of the first game.
Ellie's immunity plays such a little role in the story. Dina, Nora and two Rattlers learn about it in isolated instances with no consequence to the overall narrative. The origins and understanding of the infected isn't explored much either.
The entire WLF and Seraphite war is so unrelated to the background and context of the TLOU that you can plug it into a different game and it would still 'work.'
I honestly think they did a fairly good job executing a story so divergent from the source material, but the reasoning behind why it strays so far from the identity of TLOU makes absolutely no sense to me. Maybe something to do with the second storywriter who joined the team for this game? They got lost in the sauce

Mate I bloody loved TLOU 2 even with criticisms, but I certainly would've loved it more if they stuck truer to the elements of what TLOU actually is

Contrary to many, I actually really like this scene. Tommy's reaction is realistic and human. He's lost his brother, lost an eye, is limping along, and the quest to Seattle clearly hurt his relationship with Maria to the point that he essentially doesn't have anyone left at the moment. And then he goes to visit the one person he thinks could understand and she just says no, I'm done. Its totally understandable that he feels betrayed by it, and he's gone throufh a lot of changes through the years that it makes the whole thing fit his character development.

What you said is true that losing Maria made him a bit twisted and also Jesse's death added to his hatred and ofc him being shot in the head. At that point, all he had left to do was revenge but he wasn't able to cuz of his injury.

He said not to go because he didn't want Ellie going, and then he went the next day because he knew no matter how hard he tried to deny it that Joel would've been halfway to Seattle like Ellie said. Because he wanted the same thing too, he can't let it go either. He and Maria were still together at that point too, it's the same thing that happened with Ellie when they went to the hydro dam in the first one. He isn’t right. This isn’t what Joel would have wanted. Ellie is fucked mentally and is going through trauma, PTSD and multiple insecurities all at once. She is not in a state to be continuing her obsession with revenge, and Tommy is the exact personification of that. Tommy lost his own family; everything points towards Maria having left him because Tommy was having an unhealthy obsession with finding Abby, as evident with the fact that he was pestering travelers for months to see if they’ve seen Abby around.
Ellie did not drag Tommy into this. She was originally going to go herself. You’re assuming Tommy wouldn’t have wanted revenge for Joel, his literal brother.
Both are at fault for what happened in Seattle, they should have moved on after that shitshow and realized that none of this would bring back Joel or solve their own personal grievances.

Then when he found her at the aquarium when they got back to the theater they all agreed to let the Abby business go. So now a year plus later, Ellie’s happy healthy and has a family u expect us to believe tommy would do this? Trash writing. This game stripped everybody down (like here with Tommy) and that’s why it hurts so much. A lot of people have a visceral reaction to this game and I think many of them can’t even place why. It’s because the first game makes you love these characters and the story is very cathartic, helping people heal and explore their own traumas and experiences. Then the sequel tears that wound that felt healed wide open, while also making more. That’s powerful in a lot of ways and it speaks to how well the story is executed. For me, the problem is that I don’t resonate with this story now. I look to stories for exploration, of dark themes too sometimes, but there has to be a thread of hope that resonates. In the first game this was Joel and Ellie. While it’s clear that thread of their bond will always exist, that love will always be there, things feel hopeless because everything else is taken anyway. The game makes me feel empty by the end. That’s the story ND wanted to tell and that’s their right. It’s just not the story I need in my life right now and my personal journey. And maybe that’s ok. But I’d be lying if I said I wish it weren’t different.

But I just really can't agree with their decision to kill off such a great character, in only the sequel. I mean, I get that games like Red Dead, and Red Dead II had their main characters killed. But, it's also different in a lot of ways. I honestly would like to see Last of us prequel. Set before events in the 1st game took place. I wanna see what happens to Joel, and Tommy, right after outbreak day. Maybe starting at the day after Sarah dies. I wanna see Joel meet Tess, and become partners. I wanna see Joel, and Tommy try, and survive the outbreak, RIGHT when it happens. They obviously absolutely can not make Joel not really be dead, so why not just tell more of his life, in that huge gap between Sarah dying, and when we start looking for Robert with Tess.

Dina and her son are both alive. Presumably, they went back to Jackson, which is actually way safer than out on a farm, where Dina and her family would be vulnerable to attack from a horde of infected, hunters, some other crazy faction of human, etc. Not to mention, if one of them would get injured or fall ill, especially given that Dina is recovering from having a baby and getting shot by Lev, it makes sense that she would go back to Jackson to live with her parents. But most importantly, this is the consequence for Ellie's actions: she ends up alone because she chose to pursue revenge and leave Dina and their child behind. I do agree that the final scene is dreamlike but it's happening in real-time.

I understand that Joel is his family, but it was Joel who brought trouble on himself from the beginning when he massacred the fireflies (including Abby's father) in that hospital. Abby found him and claimed all those deaths. Abby spared Ellie and Tommy's lives because they weren't the ones who massacred her people. What I really don't like about this is people think Ellie can get off easy from her constant screw ups and Dina saying she doesn't owe Tommy anything. How can she bring up what THEY have been through when they themselves went all the way to Seattle to get revenge? That's why Tommy went alone and told Maria to keep them at Jackson, he did his part. Not only that, Ellie ignoring Tommy and leaving Jesse to go to the aquarium and killing Abby's closest friends caused the whole incident in the theater, meaning it was her fault that Jesse didn't make it back and Tommy getting badly hurt. So this whole arguing against Tommy and forgetting Jesse's death is on them is unfair on so many levels.

Now Tommy's argument is understandable. He couldn't find happiness after his injury and break up. But Dina and Ellie did nothing wrong when they stopped the hunt. The wrong thing was that Ellie went for revenge again. Ironically Abby would have paid for it if Ellie didn't go for her in the end.

Tommy’s frustration is totally justifiable and human, back at the very start of the game Tommy was preaching about how revenge wasn’t the way and Ellie ignored him, Ellie had nothing to lose at the time and now after Tommy has essentially lost everything including being able bodied ellie is living comfortably and given up on the path she chose after having others pay the consequences. Her actions repercussions were purely at the cost of other people, and now that the tables have turned where she suddenly has something to lose and tommy doesn’t, she wants to live comfortably and act like her revenge story that she started never happened. Tommy is WELL within his right to be angry and frustrated, does it justify his behaviour in this scene? No. Do I understand why he would act the way he did? Yes.

This is one of the reasons The Last Of Us Part 2 is awful: it utterly ruined Tommy's character. Tommy's character was initially handled masterfully: he was pragmatic to see that it would be useless and dangerous to avenge Joel's death. But when he saw how Ellie was determined, he decided to avenge Joel by himself so Ellie doesn't endanger herself and can have closure. Tommy has always been a selfless character and his motivations to avenge Joel were selfless: it was all for Ellie's sake. But what does he do in the end after being crippled? He guilts trip Ellie into pursuing vengeance. Tommy would have never sent to danger his brother's surrogate daughter for the sake of vengeance. And Joel would have never forgiven Tommy for doing so.

To rescue the franchise and win back the fans, Part 3 I would like Tommy to be the main player, going after Abby during the first chapters, killing her in the same brutal way, and in the final chapters Ellie giving her life to create the vaccine , the end a world without a pandemic and Tommy playing guitar next to Joel's Tomb

Might as well just call TLOU2 story a bad dream in a Joel DLC real quick.

Shitty idea, would be cringy writing. I think ND is better off writing stories that are authentic and meaningful like TLOU2’s rather than to cater to fan fantasies that would water down all meaningfulness in favor of coolbadassyessir moments.

@@Void-by3ti so ND is very good at writing to feel a total disconnection in the story, I prefer to play any game that doesn't make me feel that.

I started to like Ellie and Dina less more bc of this scene and Ellie not killing Abby

Man, I CAN'T WAIT to see the story of TLOU Pt. 3!
I wonder what Dina & Tommy feel like now.
And I wanna see the characters older.
The baby should be like 6 or 7 if they do a 5-ish year time skip.
Dina & Ellie should be pushin almost 30 at that point, right?
Cuz aren't they 24 in this scene?
Idk, I can't remember their ages rn, sorry. 😅
The first trailer for TLOU pt. III is gonna go CRAZY!!

I thought they were 18/19 in Seattle.
I thought like 4-5 years passed after TLOU1.
      I was mistaken then.
