- The visit to the Philippines was the second on the Choir’s “Hope” World Tour, which kicked of in June 2023 in Mexico.
President Leavitt said the concerts in the Philippines were a success on several fronts. Relationships were strengthened with government and interfaith leaders. One concert was for business leaders, another focused on sacred music with interfaith leaders, and the final two were for a general audience - one of which was streamed throughout the country to help reach every island.
“We had a very wide conversation with essentially the whole country,” President Leavitt said. Members of the Choir presidency met with Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. and members of his cabinet as well as the Philippine Ambassador to the U.S. Jose Manuel G. Romualdez. “We developed very important relationships going forward. They were honored by the Philippine Senate - the first choir outside of Asia ever for that to occur. So, we’ve been embraced and we have communicated and had a dialog that will be ongoing,” Leavitt said.
The Choir also sought to reach the rising generation in the Philippines. Some 50 youth performed with popular singer-songwriter Ysabelle Cuevas, singing “If You Believe,” a song about belief in Jesus Christ.
“Singing with The Tabernacle Choir has always been a dream of mine, so everything last night was just perfect,” Cuevas said. “I just imagined Heavenly Father talking to me as I’m practicing the songs and as I’m trying to figure out how to let the Spirit take over or take myself and my ego out of the performances. Every time I sing the song, it just always feels like He’s talking to me, [saying] that if I believe I can do it for you.”
The Choir also sought to speak to Filipinos in their language - and the people appreciated it. The Choir sang several songs in Tagalog.

I am speechless. What a beautiful, what a wonderful, what an inspiring Spirit filled evening at the SM Mall of Asia Arena last night! I watched the online live streaming on You Tube, and I was just stunned by the sheer beauty, majesty, harmony, and excellent talents of the Choir and its Orchestra! I consider it one of the most momentous nights in Philippines history. Words cannot express our joy and gratitude to the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square, for a marvellous evening of Christian life, love, and light in the LORD, His Church, His Saints of these latter days, through some of the dearest renowned Christian, Filipino, and international musics there are. Kudos to you all, you have all done excellently! The Filipino Saints and peoples, and indeed the World, are blessed and thankful to you because of your sacred musics ministry. 🥰 🥰 🥰
What else can I say but "Thank You". I was Very emotional during the presentation. I was so thankful I attended despite my health condition I really pushed myself to witness this historic event to listen to them here in the Philippines for the first time. I have mixed emotions so happy & teary eyed specially when they sing Hawak Kamay & Bahay Kubo in Tagalog. Amazing! I love all of their performances. Wonderful indeed!

I was mesmerized by the entire concert. It had an energy and a "wall of brilliant sound" that caught me off guard. I've been "riding the wave" of positive energy ever since. I was particularly touched by Ysabelle Cuevas and the youth who performed about halfway through the concert. The Philippines must be so proud...because I am!

I'm grateful to witness this 2-day historical event both at venue and at our stake watchparty. My favorite parts are the two "Alleluias" arr. by Mack Wilberg and by Alberto Ginastera. It feels like I'm seeing the savior's ministry, atonement, crucifixion and his resurrection. Another favorite of mine is the youth performance with the choir singing "hawak kamay" by Yeng Constantinio. It truly gives us hope through your music. Of course can't forget to mention Ms. lea salonga's powerful yet heart warming rendition of Anthony Castelo's "Hahanapin Ko". And also the choir's surprise performance of a tagalog traditional song "bahay kubo".
What a moving set of performances. I was even moved by songs in a language foreign to me. Great job to each of you. Thanks for sharing your talents with the world!

I was at the 5th upper lever and all performer was too small to watch, but the sound of music was an indescribable feeling for me and the whole arena. It was rare to most Filipino and you bring the angelic voice with the truly message of hope. One thing more, every time I watch this concert, the same feeling brings back over and over again. With the word Filipino + English = SALAMUCH which means thank you very much.
