- Another interview with Greg Anderson, Midwestern collector of the rare Homelite/Bearcat 55hp 4 stroke outboard boat motors. We see another Tomahawk boat with yes, you guessed it - a Homelite motor.

I blew up the exact same Homelite engine running it wot on lake Hartwell in SC in 1970. It threw a rod out the side of the engine block. The boat was a 16' West Wind trihull. The same pitch prop was on the motor and boat both bought in 1966.
The catalog he was talking about is McMaster Carr.
For the record, as the owner knew but not the interviewer at first, the Homelite 55/Bearcat 55 was an American engine first used for WW2 pumps then adapted later to the Crosley automobiles. The later Bearcat 85 was the one derived from the Coventry Climax (British). The 55 HP outboard was the ultimate version of that powerplant, such that Crosley owners would adapt them back to their cars- instant HP with excellent reliability.
more info in this video.. much better !
Greg, where can I get Homelite parts?
Impellers points condensers, etc
The company you mentioned is actually McMaster Carr, they have an Outlet in Marietta, Georgia.
Again, Greg. Why is the fire extinguisher where the fire will be? Who will reach into a fire to get the extinguisher? Mount it where the captain can quickly access it.
I'm looking for a lower cowling for my bearcat, do you happen to have one?
This video is from years ago. The video was made for our Series, so if you are hoping to contact Greg about parts, he was not in the business but did occasional swapping as a collector. Back then there was an outfit selling the motors, used, rebuilt or maybe parts out on the West Coast, California or Washington. You'll need to research yourself to see if they're still around.
Great video but I think you were right when you said that the engine the Bearcat55 was based on an egine that was made in Britain by Coventry Climax
I got one in Ohio Greg, wish I could show you pics/info
greetings ..... great job on your boat I would like to have it
