What about fostering a pet for a shelter or rescue? This way you can have your pet "fix", help save an animal and the bills will be covered by the rescue group so it's a WIN WIN WIN!

Jennifer Ann de la Torre i got sick a few years ago with a long term problem and because of it I became anxious and worried. A cat helped me tremendously. She helped me so much I got 2 more. They have helped me a lot...with company, cuddles and laughter as they do funny things.
Each has a health problem though so I am lucky my husband earns a good wage.
If you can't afford a cat of your own why not befriend a neighbour's cat (with their permission) as they are good at spreading the love.
Good luck with treating your anxiety.

Hello, Jennifer Ann, I don't know where you are located. I'm in Montreal, QC and I believe SPCA its everywhere in Canada, you can also search in google for shelter homes in your area, most of them offer foster programs and will pay for the animal"s food. Good luck!

We are 53 & 54 yrs old & am semi-retired. We Love it. We had 2 full time jobs in the Midwest & recently moved to Orlando. We went from paying $2,500.00 a month to $1200.00 a month. We are living on a part time salary & we are loving it. Our way of life had to change but we are enjoying spending more time with each other. We go out to eat once a month. We cut out cable, we only have the Internet. Instead of paying $20.00 for movie night, we pay Netflix $9.99 a month for movies. We moved into a community that has a pool so we are there several times a week. For our birthdays we packed up a picnic lunch & went to a park then to the beach, it's really relaxing. My husband was blessed to find a job part time job that if he works 32 hours he gets full benefits. It can be done, make yourself a list of what you can eliminate & start from there. 😎

Dave Ramsey! Yes! I too am a Dave Ramsey 'disciple.' My income varies greatly month to month so I've been struggling to master that zero based budget. However, you've inspired me to do so. Maybe I'll come back and post a 'Debt Free Scream.' Lol. It's almost like, over time, you've read my mind and then some.**I love Christine's beauty tips but I wish she would use cruelty free items, and scale down** Now this budget post. And all done with kindness and beauty. More budget vids please! Your hard work on the vids really shines through. Thank you.

sooo if you dont go to the movies, shopping, dont own a tv, dont go out to eat, what do you and your spouse do to releive stress, or have date nights? debt or not, you have to be able to have fun sometimes. otherwise, what is the point?

+PixelFace you can still see movies, just either use redbox or rent for free from the library. You don't have to go as extreme as she has with no tv, etc but pick a few areas that you can cut back on. I agree you shouldn't get rid of everything in life that gives you joy or you will become discouraged and quit. But you can usually find cheaper alternatives to the things you want to do. Use Groupon when you go out to eat and don't order drinks (just water), etc.

Great tips Christine! I have a beauty tip. Only buy when you're almost out of a product and are 100% sure you want to repurchase it. I used to run out and buy multiples or order them online but found that I really didn't like the product as much as I initially thought I did and then I had all those backups. I'm working on simplifying my products and my life and find a great sense of accomplishment in doing this!

Another tip would be for people to stop getting nails, eyebrows, hair extensions, tans or whatever people get fixed professionally, all the time. If people want to save money of course. Obviously everyone is different & some people will see it as a priority. But it would save so much money over time to not get those things done out, when possible.

A tankless water heater is good for reducing money , it doesn't run unless being used . We are canceling our cable . One thing we can't do is get rid of our second car , we both have to drive 30 min in opposite directions for work . My husband does car pool though and they split gas . Pets are a lot when you add in vet bill and for every pet you need an emergency fund . A huge expense for us right now is medical insurance , it's at about $1000 month . Another huge expense can be student loans .

also, fun fact, this same teacher showed us food inc. which was the true first spark of changing my diet back when i was 16. if i ever see him again i am going to profusely thank him. and maybe buy him a vegan meal. haha.

I live in a place with an HOA with a pool/clubhouse and one thing I started doing is showering at the clubhouse after I swim and shampoo and blow dry my hair there. You are so smart Christine...good advice. Many years ago my husband and I did what you advise and worked our way out of debt. It was so empowering that I believe it made our marriage stronger. Now we pay for everything monthly & have saved for our retirement. Nothing is for sure in life, but I do believe living debt free brings us a better quality of life. Blessings...

Lots of good tips, especially getting rid of the extra car. So many women also need to stop buying clothes because they're "cute" or on sale and wait til they actually need an item. There are now lots of good videos on planning your clothes shopping, instead of doing it on impulse. Also, their bathrooms are overflowing with expensive makeup that would take years and years to use up - long past the expiry dates. So wasteful to keep buying it before you actually run out of a product. And a really big one is to stop smoking.

Student Discount for Amazon Prime 49.00 for a year, I can power watch old shows that doesn't come on cable. This really help save money, however there are somethings that comes on cable that won't make it to amazon, hulu gets boring, netflix is ok but if you can share the bill with someone thats even better. Also internet will have to be added into the expenses if you want to continue streaming these services.

I am not planning on having a debt any soon, but I actually need to take care of one additional bill. We have a 3in1 cabel solution, that includes phone, internet and TV, and we don't even own a TV or a traditional phone... Not going into debt and saving some money should be an even better feeling (and then I will spend it with joy on my hobbies). Your videos are always helpful for me in some way :)

great, Christine! I am focusing on becoming debt-free asap! Would be cool if when you and Michael move, you do a bunch of vids on saving money by making your own furniture, etc! Maybe a storage banquette, instead of a sofa.

Great video! I'm gonna have to start making budgets again. Cutting cost of beverages really hits home for me. I used to get a drink at starbucks everyday and sometimes twice a day and was spending hundreds of dollars each month. Now, I have a coffee grinder, electric kettle, and a french press at home and I also have a coffee subscription from Stumptown Roasters. I'm spending on average $40-60/month, which is still a lot but a lot less than I used to.

Some of these are good tips but I believe that you have to live your life, even with bills you should let yourself live a little. saying no to yourself all the time sucks. example I love the movies so once a month I'd like to go to the theater. maybe we eat at home then go instead of eating out and I may even sneak in snacks too lol.

I stop buying teas, I have a davids tea mug, and I take my tea with me every day, it keeps it nice and hot. I bake my muffins and blue berry loaf and I take a slice on the road. Thanks for sharing great tips. I am happy to say I have no credit cards debts.
