Mikey I have installed a lot of machines we use in the steel fabricating industry with the company installers and you would believe the amount of problems we during the installs . And these machines where fully assembled and tested at the factory before they are shipped out to the customer . And keep up the good work .

Hey, I know a lot of Bosh lovers and installers follow this channel.
I am getting quotes on a 3 Ton Bosh IDS system. I had a place quote me. They quoted the 20 Seer unit $2,500 more than the 18 Seer unit. Does that sound right?
@@PipeDoctor That's it. 7,400 for the 18 seer and 9,500 for the 20 seer. So, I guess $2,100 more. So you are saying that's reasonable?
Although I just got another quote for $8880 for the 20 Seer.
The size of that thing! You should take a look at our systems here in the UK. I'm domestic/commercial gas and still think the US is a still so far behind with things like Combi boilers. I'm not saying your workmanship is at all bad but the pipework requirements made that install look like the Windows pipes screensaver.
The size is due to the fact that combis are made for the large US homes and sold to homeowners as some kind of "better unit" when it should be a boiler and unvented cylinder. He installed a 60kW combi. Homeowners here are brainwashed in to thinking tanks are bad, buy a combi. Hot water usage in the US is much higher than the UK as well which forces manufacturers to create these monster combi boilers for the market. Also you'll notice that even though this is a boiler replacement they did not fit a magnet dirt filter. Things are very different on this side of the pond!
@@mattkaramccarthy677 I appreciate things are different. Some of the gas installations I've seen while over in the US aswell as the ones in videos such as these make me cringe. Some of the things would be deemed illegal here.
A 60kW combi is huge, and would be way over the top here in the UK for most houses. I get that US homes are bigger and needs must.
As an example, a 60kW boiler here uses around 6.4m3 (226cu.ft) of Nat Gas an hour. 99.9% of UK homes have gas meters only capable of passing 6m3/hr so it shows how requirements are different.
Combis are great in the correct application basing off property size and hot water requirements but it's ultimately down to the installer to make the correct decision on what's needed.

Hi Mikey Pipes. My new house is still under construction and the plumber will be doing his rough in soon. My builder is still insisting going with the Navien but I insisting going with something else or just a conventional hot water heater. Can I get a Lochnivar sized for a 2300 sq ft house with propane heat?

on my 2nd lochinvar combi, and this one is giving me issues already, lol. perfect water and perfect pressure must be the only way these things last. i don't see these lasting 20 years, not even close

The better the warranty,the more likely it is to fail within that predetermined time,tgat way they dont all get sued!

Or will high temp pex be ok?..i thought oxygen barrier was good to use if you have cast iron system, and that i dont need it with a combi system. Whats the answer on this one. Ty

What idiot engineer would make the ground purple and the line voltage green? I could see a dark green or a very light green but not the same color green as every ground wire ever. That is definitely a mistake and the fact that it happened on both units means they need to either add a bright ass note on those purple and green wires letting installers know about it or actually fix it cause I would have done the same thing.
You're misunderstanding. The pump wire is purple and the green is ground. They are mislabeled. The labels are on the wrong wire
