Drafi war damals schon mit seiner Musik der Zeit weit voraus darum ist sie heute noch nicht vergessen.

Die Gruppe Maskerade singt nicht selber, man kann deutlich hören, das beide Parts von Drafi Deutscher im Studio gesungen worden sind, genau wie Frank Farian bei Milli Vanilli. Das hat auch Drafis Sohn René bei einen anderen Video hier bestätigt

Haben die nie dieses Lied live gesungen sondern war dies nur die Stimme von Drafi und gabs von denen andere Songs?
Das waren zwei Typen, die die Lippen zu dem von Drafi (man hört sehr klar insbesondere in den hohen Passagen, dass das seine Stimme ist) und Chris Evans im Studio gesungenen Lied bewegt haben. Die hatten noch weitere zwei weitere Singles aus "The Sound of Masquerade", dem einzigen Album, das die veröffentlicht haben, ausgekoppelt nämlich "Everyday Loser" und "Love Hurts".
Man fragte sich seit langen wer wohl die beiden performer sind der ohne
Maske ist Ole Olsen und der mit Maske ist Günter Urban somit ist der
rätsel hier gelöst.

This isn’t the video I remember from NL in the 80s, the masks were half black/white and still in my memory.
There are 5 or more versions of this one in youtube. I too like better when they have developed dressing and koreografy, for instance lower voice singer helds the mask instead it being glued to his face. Hate to burst everyones bubble, as i do love this song . . but it was all mime. the two actors had nothing to do with it. They mimed the whole thing.
Drafi Duetsher wrote and sung this . . . then released under the name masquerade. This was far from live and just part of the Masquerade

Yes, it's true. The German version came 1989. In 1983, the sound technology was not yet developed like now. They could not sing live. Today it is possible to sing live.

Kurt Gebegern was a pseudonym of Drafi Deutscher who wrote the song under this name. You can also hear his characteristic voice in the higher parts of that song. Chris Evans was the co-author of that song but he looks totally different and was none of these two guys performing on stage

Was this really a common thing in the 80s? I've heard of milli vanilli, and it was a scandal. Then I discovered Boney M where also mostly performing. And now this???
Milli Vanilli was mainly a scandal because they got a Grammy Award. Before and after Milli Vanilli there were always producer projects with fake singer/dancers. The male voice of Boney M. for example was from their german producer Frank Farian (who produced Milli Vanilli too) and not from the male dancer. Drafi Deutscher in this case Masquerade did many productions back in the 80's under pseudonym names because he had trouble with the tax office. So back in the 80's and 90's this fake singer thing was really common.
Agree with Chris X. Milli Vanilli were hugely successful and if I remember correctly, had far more of a scam feel to it, whereas for some reason this case seems transparent and kind of understood as a type of "live music video" /performance art.
