What he did for basketball alone in Canada is Legendary. Might of not left on the best of terms, but he made this notorious hockey country start hoping.
Good point
Please Canada was ok before he came in basketball
This man inspired a whole generation of dunkers.... his contribution to basketball is 1st ballot easy LEGENDARY with no rings
VC became a hall of famer during the 2000 All-Star Weekend.. IT'S OVER!
True. Also for allowing professional basketball to survive in Canada. If it wasn't for Vince the Raptors might not have lasted in Toronto. Now they're champs. Crazy.
@@dom4591 david stern was not making them fail and the raptors themselves
@@gangtime8705 Vince was all the Raptors had at the time lol. No players wanted to go to Toronto. The only chance they had was rookie signings. VC made the Raptors.
@@gangtime8705 also don't forget the Vancouver Grizzlies. Canada's second team which moved to Memphis.
@@dom4591 So McGrady and all star Antonio Davis weren't on the Raptors at the same time as Carter?
No questions, He's absolutely a HALL OF FAMER!
I was at that game when he dunked on Zo that was the craziest thing I ever seen in person.
He was definitely flashy
I was there too! Vince was definitely something else. I rocked his shoes, jersey. Even wore my armband like him.
Those dunks were crazy. Jefferson also caught him that game. The behind the back 1st, then he cocked it back and baptized Zo..smh. 🤒🤒🤒😷😷😷😷😳😳
Best in game dunk in NBA history imo
1st ballot hof without question. Nobody can skywalk like him in-game or exhibitions multiple all-star games good defender decent shooter but a highlight reel in action every time he attacked the basket. Truly 1 of a kind.
He was more than a decent shooter , he’s 7th all time in 3’s
That's why I am a V.C Fan, he jumped over dude in the Olympics
his name is Frederic Weiss and he still has nightmares still to this day
@@strikeout77777 poor guy was forgotten after being a potential star cause of that 1 dunk
I would of been a fan either way
@Greg A imagine being a Knick fan in the year 2020
He was 7.2 which is just insane.
You just can’t talk about dunks without mentioning vince. He’s a HOF, for sure.
That’s all you talk about when mentioning Vince
His Dunking, His Longetivty, His Air Carter days?
He's the greatest Raptor of all time. No one had a larger effect on an entire nation than Vince. He kept the Raptors in Toronto and kept them relevant in the NBA. No one was as electrifying and as athletic as him. Thank you for all the memories Vince. Now I don't know how to watch the NBA again. RETIRE HIS NO. 15 IN TORONTO NOW!!!!!!
He didn't keep the raptors in Toronto ownership did
Absolutely right. The greatest Raptor of all-time.
He’s the only player to ever play in the 90s, 00s, 10s, and 20s.
Forget the rest of his career, he’s a Hall of Famer based on longevity alone
forget the dunk contest - who could forget that dunk at the Olympics!
standard dunk...i did that all the time when i was younger
LEGEND!! You cannot tell the story of basketball without VC!
He's the best dunker the NBA has seen
My mans Dominique Wilkins being disrespected right now lol
@@simplyluis6548 Dominque was a great dunker but Carter is better no question #1 all time dunk competition
ZachLavineHive ! What you mean no. He’s no doubt the best dunker ever
Agree. But that's not enough to be a Hall of Famer.
Blake Griffin 2012...
Other then the 7 footer dunk
The ben Wallace was my fav. I was watching that game live at my boys house and we all jumped and went nuts.
Dude almost dunked from the free throw line over ben Wallace one of the biggest meanest nba beasts we ever saw
I'm sad VC had to go out like that. He deserved a full retirement season.
no he dosnt if timnmy D did not get one why do you think guy does
Gang time Because it was Tim Duncan’s choice to retire that way. Everyone knew this was Vince Carter’s last season. Vince carter did deserve to have a recognized final game instead of a unsuspected canceling of the season
jay dot what does he deserve 😂 we knew KG was done same with dirk pierce he don’t deserve anything
True but knowing how the NBA is knowing how this generation is they might have something for him next year
Gang time well dirk did have a final last game with the Mavericks. Pierce was on a playoff clippers team as a bench warmer so his last official game I don’t think he played but he at least had a final game moment in TD garden. And KG got injured early in his final season so that’s why he didn’t have a final game moment. All I’m saying is Vince has been a perennial all star for the first half of his career and played the last 12 years as an affective role player who adapted his game to the modern era. Why don’t you think he deserved an official final game moment after giving 22 years of his life to the game?
That’s a fact he’s a Hall of Famer
No he is not. But he will probably get in.
For what? Winning the dunk contest? Because in 20 years he played in ONE conference final
Thomas Crown III Vince was a superstar 20 years ago. Don’t blame him because he didn’t go ring chasing and was still productive for years as a bench scorer after his prime.....
@@Geeandrezzi So was McGrady, he shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame either. If you play 20 years, for 8 teams and make it to one Conference Final, that makes you a Hall of Famer? That's the standard, huh?
@@thomascrowniii1693 For someone who has never been in the NBA you talk like it's easy to win
If he's not a hall of famer than something is seriously wrong
Yeah his unfulfilled potential. But he is a second round hall of famer
He would have been 2nd round if it was the nba hall of fame, but it's the basketball all of fame. He is definitely first ballot. He was practically the most famous player in the 2000, he put Canada on the map. He was 8 times all star, finished his career with over 25000 pts, plus a gold medal. That's first ballot.
@@patsilvert with the ad of McGrady
@Greg A you need to look at the totals not the per game
Look at all the comments. The only thing he's ever done is dunk. If dunking can get you in the HOF, then Nate Robinson should be in, too.
He is a hall of famer off his first 8 years, but after that he declined quickly. He never developed his game to the next level, but based off the 8 years he was an All Star, he will get in.
Say what? He stayed this long in the league especially cause of his development.
@@danielussat1071 he was washed since 2010. Dude was a role player for like 11 years. He is somewhat overated.
The first time Jay Williams has been right about anything
right because he has said alot of ridiculous stuff a
Amen!
Tmac got in so Vince gets in aswell
Exactly and carter played way longer
True but I’m still on the fence about t mac
Tmac is way better than Vince though.
Vince should get in but t-Mac is much better
Bank of Werner didn’t play long enough, but also had no playoff success. Vince had just as many all star appearances, actually one more. So if he got in Vince does
bro, my boy Yao ming made it so VC should have a spot as well
That sounds like you're saying Yao was undeserving of a HoF spot bro lol. But, yeah. Vince undoubtedly earned his ticket ages ago.
@@simplyluis6548 Nah. He's saying VC is better than Yao.
@@youngblood4127 That wasn't my opinion. I was just saying what fluidacid meant by his comment. That said, Yao had too many injury problems. If he was as healthy and available as VC has been in his career than I'd take Yao, but he wasn't so I'm going with VC.
because Yao brought that Chinese money. Yao is like Sabonis
yao ming doesent belong in hof
Am am 59 years old right now, and I feel he is the most spectacular player I have ever seen. Michael is the greatest but Vince is the most spectacular. Best in game dunker off all time. Definite Hall of Famer.
He might not make it first ballot, but he's definitely getting in. Dude single handedly helped bring interest in basketball to the Greater Toronto Area, let alone Canada.
it was nash
He’s first ballot no doubt
vince top 19 all time in scoring that alone proves he a hall famer
Lmao
Literally played 2 decades
VC is gonna go to the HOF because of his dunking ability..He was a great all around player but no rings kinda kill this debate
His game is tight. All kinds of HOF credibility.
Playing 22 years and your only 19th lol cmon that holds NO Weight
Human Highlight we going to miss you your a LEGEND one of the greatest ever
I'm from Toronto when Vince Carter left, the whole country was sad depressed and angry. But his best years was in Toronto, he wasn't that famous after he left Toronto. That's why all your clips of him he's in the Toronto Jersey.
Was still putting up good numbers during his Nets run, wdym
He was actually better overall as a Net. Just had his one best season with the Raptors.
Because of outside the Dunk Contest there isn't much to talk about.
His on-off is one of the most impressive that I've seen since the stat was created, especially when he was in his prime.
People really don't understand how godawful those Raptors and Nets teams were outside of Vince, but that stat illuminates it. Getting those teams to the second round of the playoffs is maybe more impressive than some player's finals appearances imo. I just saw a telling stat. In Vince's 5 years with the Nets he only missed 11 games. The Nets lost every one of them.
@@mikesannitti6042 Basketball players are not getting to the Hall of Fame because of how many games they played.
@@pjbrownemusic you're missing the point entirely.
@#LoSLakersFan 28 I think plus -minus with and without Vince on the court
@#LoSLakersFan 28 I think it's on the court +/- vs when he's off the court
Too much emphasis has been placed on winning a ring in these discussions. Vince Carter is clearly a Hall of Famer! The most natural dunker the game has EVER seen, 8-time all star, Team USA Olympic champion and played in 4 different decades! Come on. He's in the Hall of Fame.
VC in his prime he was good as anyone. The injury took out many great players potential. The first three years he was half man half amazing. The rest of his career he was half man and fully amazing. Thank you VC for the good times.
U r so right,Brother Jay
it Sad he Never Got His Championship Rings I Really Miss Those Early Day of Vince Carter NBA Career in late 90 & Early 2000 hope he got Hall of Fame
My top 5 slam dunk champions
Vince Carter
Michael Jordan
Zach Lavine
Jason Richardson
Dominique Wilkins
I would give an honorable mention to spud webb and nate Robinson due to their height. Accurate list though my dude...
Ooh can't forget about J Rich!! He was nasty too!
@@tylers6611 I'm still a bit upset that Nate won the 06 or 07 dunk competition I think over iggy, he shouldn't have won it but it is what it is
Great list
aaron gordon
This man is a legend he put baseball on the map in Canada big up vince
It’s Over!!!! Hall of Fame for sure!!! Love how he dunked on and over a 7footer!!! Thank you VC!!!
athletically vince is the most gifted his ability to change plays in midair is inhuman
The ultimate professional... much respect
WELL SAID....TRUTH..FIRST BALLOT HOF
Lmao how TF is he a first ballot Hof when he's only made TWO all NBA teams and neither were first team? Because he can dunk? Foh.
His slam dunk highlight reel is probably the most replayed highlight reel in sports history. Every sports show/network, over 20 years old. Jordan over Ehlo doesn’t come close. Kids don’t see Ali’s stuff as much as before.
He's not only a hall of famer he's part of the nba story 👐👐
If t-mac is a hall of famer, then VC should be automatic
LMAO what are you implying
Tmac was 1st Team twice 2nd Team thrice and 3rd team twice and was scoring champion twice.
VC never even made an All NBA First Team.
@@1990758 is actually the opposite lol. If you know basketball you understand the point lol. I love tmac (one of my favourite players) but he never even passed the first round (Vince made it to the east finals). He avg over 20 points for at least 10 seasons. Tmac, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce haven't even don't that (and their considered first ballot).
@@desmondappiah-b905 I know basketball like there's no tomorrow I've been watching the game since the 60s. Today's NBA you really don't have to accomplish a lot to get inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame they will let anybody in there with little or nothing on their resume
Of course vinsanity is a HOF one of the most exciting players to watch growing up!!! That dunk in the USA game on dude from France was epic!!
Agreed. However y'all need to keep that same energy for someone like Dwight
I agree Dwight is no doubt a HOFer
Did a great job of tipping off opponents of team plays as well. A plus.
Vince Carter didn't get to bring a chip to TORONTO but as far as business.. what he did for the league and Toronto was amazing . My Greatest Raptor's of all time
Pg. Tracy McGrady
SG. Vince Carter (grestestraptorever
Sf. Kawhi Leonard
Pf. Chris Bosh
C. Serge ibaka
Great players that love the game and extend their careers until they are no longer a starter or even a rotational player leave themselves open for the HOF argument. VC is a HOF level player and as a basketball fan I thank him for playing and loving the game at an elite level.
When he said watch the Cater effect, that changed my mind. I watched it and it’s not what u do in the NBA that makes u a HOF. It’s what u do for the game of BASKETBALL. He was the rock that dropped in lake Toronto ( Tristan Thompson, Fred Van Vleet (?). NBA Players from Canada if u didn’t know.)
Fred is from Rockford, Illinois
Lmao.
How relevant is Canada as a market ?
VC should be in hall of fame for that dunk in the Olympics alone
What MJ did to basketball,
Vince Carter has done to Dunks
And the way he evolved is second to none
Couldn't put it better words
Yes
vince carter hall of famer handz down.💪👑
Superb player. Not just a dunker. Worthy HOF entrant. Happy retirement VC
Because its his actual CONTRIBUTION to game as a whole which supersedes his accolades you can book it as 2nd Ballot sure.. ☝️☝️
There are a lot of young Canadian NBA and NCAA players right now and that influx is not a result of Steve Nash(no disrespect), it is Vince Carter and what he meant for basketball in Toronto
Definitely!! Vince Carter is the Air Apparent he's a Hall Of Famer😊

You tell em Jay !!
"It's over"
Been a fan since 04 NBA Live
1/2 man 1/2 amazing! He is a first ballot hall of famer! No hesitation, 2nd guessing or debate.
I had this conversation 7 or 8 years ago and I said no. Having lasted this long in the league I'd definitely have to change that to DEFINITELY
this is not a longetivity award bruh and his past 8 years or so looks nothing like his beginning prime years
Imagine if vince played to close up his career at the Raptors! That would be something!!!
Once Vince Carter was asked why he was taking so many 3 pointers his responce was because my mom said I should. Everybody dragged him for it...the media, fans, other players... After that moment Vince was never the same....after that statement he no longer even averaged 20 points ...only us old school people remember that
This guy gave more facials to dudes on the court than to his wife! GOAT!
Anyone that makes the NBA is too 1% of hoopers but for this man to play as long as he did alone makes him a HOF. Add all his culture changing game in Canada he’s first Ballot
The HOF will eventually(tbh it needs it now) have a class within the hall and it will be necessary because at this point everyone getting in..each yr the HOF gets watered down..his career deserves to be recognized..he and others like reggie Barkley etc..they deserve recognition but to be able to enter the same club as Kobe mj bron kd(obviously they'll be there) magic etc is kinda ridiculous when u think about it
Vince is my boy one of the best dunkers of all time and had the longest career but it's not crazy to question his hall of fame status given when you look at hall of famers resumes alot of them look better than his.
It is truly end of an era, wow.
If the basketball HOF had higher and what I feel were more appropriate standards then Vince would be a borderline candidate. If Mitch Richmond is in the hall, then for sure VC should be in.
its not how many rings you get, its how many cool dunks you can do. thats why vince is in the hall of fame. and also that he played 22 years and did decent
It's funny how people keep saying he's a dunker but he's also like on the top of all-time greater shooters of all time too it's look at the list he could shoot too plus he was a superstar when he was with the nets for a few years and he was a superstar with the raptors so that's got to give him some type of credit and he played 22 seasons That's unheard of for a person like that to be doing what he was doing and he's not nearly as in shape like how LeBron is and he was able to do 22 seasons
Jay is wilding. He underachieved.
*The Most Important Raptor In History.*
*He made the franchise.*
A king without crown... the man is a legend
Vince Carter was on of my favorite players and was so much fun to watch but ultimately he’s your 4-5th best player on a championship team.
Oh really? In his prime? Congratulations!! Here’s your dumbest comment award 🏆
I know they dug deep to find that footage of jay I loved him at Duke and was mad when he got hurt in that accident
It's called the Hall of Fame. Vince Carter is and has been as famous and brilliant as any player not named MJ, Kobe or Lebron since 1998. He was must see tv in real time.
i did not know Vince was 6 all-time in 3 pointers, He's def a Hall of Famer
Anybody can make the NBA Hall of Fame
He's a hall of Famer no question best dunker ever

Facts jacc!
He is a HOF'er on the First Ballot
Best In-game dunker I’ve ever seen
Why did they show the between the legs instead of the reverse 360 against the grain. That was his first dunk in the contest, and it was so fluid lol
Clutch
Greatest dunker of all time combined with #6 all time on three pointers made should be an automatic HOF nod. Too bad he never developed the ball handling ability or feathery mid-range touch needed to be an all time great.
Can someone please tell me why Reggie Miller is in the HOF but Chris Webber isn't?
Vince Carter is a Legend ...
I have no objections. He's a one of a kind NBA icon.
Glory to God,hey vince! thank you for bringing joy to us basketball fans, and 22 years of playing,Vince you do and will make the NBA Hall of fame!!!,but God,be the glory! To all players that play with you and again you,I (kr)says thank you,Vince, Tracey, and all players for the joy of seeing great players play! ty
Vince Carter got me play basketball with swagger and MJ made me quick before I made a fool of myself.
The most graceful dunker in history.
He should be a hall of famer cause he dunked hard that one time!
Vince Carter was cold blooded in his prime!
who in this hearth doesn't respect Vince talent?
Yes he is indeniably an HOF.
peace
But the fact they're bringing up the question it's interesting
i finally know the name of the european center that got dunked on
Oh course vince is a hall of famer, how is this even a question, it’s the basketball hall of fame not the NBA hall of fame people tend to forget that, he is a multiple time all star and all -nba, Olympic gold medalist, not too mention his impact on the globalization of game. Vince inspired so many kids in Canada to play basketball. He might have underachieved a little bit in terms of not winning a championship but he did not have the talent around him. if Yao Ming and Tracy Mcgrady got in then Vince will definitely get in.
Definitely a Hall of Famer!!
Half Man Half Amazing. He definitely a HOF
