This issue shouldn’t exist but it depends on proper fitment of the latch, seen so many that have snib in the keep so the bolt is not dead!

Thanks for pointing that out, Chris.
They need to be fitted correctly and it’s important to match the correct strike to the lock. We also have our own custom spacers to adjust locks that aren’t properly aligned.

Should the smaller latch extend out again when the door is fully closed or not ?

No, it remains depressed when the door is shut, which enables the deadbolt function.
