    This Tesla factory is located in a drinking water protection area. The groundwater level has dropped significantly due to the last extreme summers. Because Tesla uses more water than average (about 3-4 times as much) than our German car factories, people are afraid that there will be insufficient water at some point. In addition, Tesla has already had several accidents involving chemicals that could have contaminated the groundwater.

    • @delqyrus2619
      @delqyrus2619 Před 29 dny +8

      There are a lot of problems with that factory, which actually arent that much of a problem. For example they want to clear a lot of forest - which actually isn't forest, but some industry area for wood production, while tesla compensates for it by donating a real forest. This wood industry is a real environmental hazard because it is a monocultural desert.
      The next problem is the water - what also isn't an actual problem because Tesla does everything to protect the water. By law they could actually use a lot of water by area, but they simply don't. They use not even a third of it - which is about as much as seven families and what is actually less than the wood industry used which got removed for it. This is managed by using it in a closed loop and recycling basically 100% of it.
      The last problem is the most german you can think of: Procedural errors. Some areas weren't properly marked on plans and had to be corrected, which lead to confusion for the protesters while being legally completely correct.

    The protests against Tesla have no labor law background. The protesters are climate activists who say that a fundamental shift in transport is needed and that combustion engines cannot simply be replaced by electric cars. As I understand it, the Tesla factory in this case is more of a symbol of the wrong climate policy measures and investments. The climate protesters believe that the state should, for example, invest more money in expanding local public transport and less in highways.
    The protest against Tesla is therefore basically directed firstly against all car manufacturers and secondly it is intended to draw attention to environmental policy grievances.
    In the Tesla case, however, the Tesla factory uses a lot of water and pollutes the groundwater, and forests are to be cleared to expand the factory.

    • @cdhagen
      @cdhagen Před 29 dny

      However, they are naive. There will always have to be some form of private transport (i.e. cars). It is unthinkable that every square mile of the country would be covered by 24/7 public transport. That's why most people in Germany hate the protesters. 😀

      Tesla broke quite a few German laws when they build the factory and expected to do it just like in the US, better to ask for forgiveness than for permission. Then Tesla announced they would expand the factory and destroy more protected habitats.

    The tesla factory is partly located in a water protection area. Normally it isn't allowed to build factories there. But tesla got an exception by saying they wouldn't cause any damage to the water. Now it's proven that they do cause damage to the water.
    But it's also true that there are problems with the working conditions at Tesla. For example they have twice as many serious accidents as other car manufacturers.

    After being build, tesla wanna build the next stage as a Factory for batteries and tear down forest again. Thats why all the protests are coming up. Now they found a compromise for building. As for the Tesla factory it is for a large part about water protection and lowering ground water too much. They overruled their own experts and made special exceptions so the factory and maxbe the panned expansion that hopefully never will come could be legally allowed. However making special rules only for Tesla with everyone else beeing hold to a higher standard for a reason does not sit well with the community.

    No, the German protests were the Syndicate against the Boss and the Government. The Synsicate merged with the Boss and the Government and there are no more protests. Peasants-farmers protested, but they are not fancy, so no one supported them, except the "Nazi" AfD. One thing that is not talked about in Germany: there are two types of ecologists, the first are associations that play for the government and adapt nature to industry, the second are individuals who fight for nature and are called fools and charged for illegal actions. Come as an American to Germany and change dollars to euros. Banks ask you to have their account, and when you find an exchange office, the exchange rate is usurious. Five thousand people were arrested for "pro-Russian politics", because they said that the Russian-Ukrainian war was not a black-and-white situation. Germany is not an idyllic country, quite the opposite. On the approach to the Frankfurt main train station you have a sign that from 8PM to 5AM weapons are prohibited. Cologne is a story in itself, Dusseldorf in itself. There are more and more people collecting bottles from the garbage, businesses are closing en masse, people are being laid off, companies are moving to rural areas. Financial aid is given to foreign countries, the euro is exported, to avoid hyperinflation. Decades of fundraising were spent in financing big companies that financed election campaigns. This is Germany.

    The most interesting point about the "glue to street" protests is the high amount of threats of motorists against the environment protectors. Direct violence, "They should all be killed" and so on.
    Especially since a few month later farmers also blocked streets in a often far more dangerous way and the same people just... accepted it.
    Maybe the motorists could emphasize more with the "We want more money" of the farmers than "we want the earth to be still inhabitable in 100 years"?
    Or it was the feeling of helplessness - the farmers didn't matter for the car dirivers. They would not be affected. But if the climate threat was taken serious, the car drivers would need to change their live.
    Change seems to be something that many people are very badly equipped to handle. They prefer to kick people glued on the groud to changing their jobs, even if they hate the job and the car commute.

    yes, you are protesting for the right thing
    no, you are not helping bc all you're achieving is making more people disagree with you and
    while this may not be the right thing to do, conservative politicians call people glueing themselves to the street terrorists (literally, how ridiculous is that? I guess Ghandi, literally the same methods, was a terrorist, too) but have sympathies for farmers literally blocking entire cities
    no matter where you stand, that is clearly a double standard

      There was one case, where a woman fell onto the road and she got pinned below a lorry. Due to the protests the ediquate help coudn't arrive so they decided to just drive her over *again* which resulted in her death Sandra U. was her name.
      Just stop oil produced a traffic jam which was so sudden, that multiple people caused an accident which resulted in multiple deaths.

    There is nothing against protesting peacefully. Ant that's what 80% of the protesters do! Especially the climate protesters who just sit on the street! But the "normal" citizen that want's to be somewhere and then gets violent by grabbing the protesters and dragging them, they are the problem! As soon as some random citizen puts a hand on your body, that's assault and I would press charges! The ordinary citizen has NO RIGHT to just grab someone, just because this someone is sitting in the street!
    What frustrates me is, that when climate activists sit and/or glue themselfes in the streets they are har rased, get instulted and as saulted and even called "climate ter rorists"! But as soon as the oh so holy and usefull farmers Start protesting because their fuel gets more expensive because the government doesn't want to pay anymore for the fuel the farmers use (like, I need to get gas to go to work and NO ONE is presenting me with a 50% government discount) everyone is like "Yeah.. Yeah, the farmers have a right to be mad. Their existence is at risk"
    Yeah! Guess what! If the world goes to SH IT! because climate change and biodiversity loss WE ALL go to SH IT as well.. Okey.. Not all. The richest 10% of the earth just watch as we others are all just going to starve, have to pay 10 bucks for a piece of bread and can't even afford to buy anything anymore, because if the climate is going south, we all will suffer greatly. But nö one cares about the "far" future, that will be here in 10 to 20 years. They All just think about the "near" future and themselfes. Like the German farmers do! Every year they cry if the crops get destoyed by rain, frost or drought. And every year it's the same game about crying to the government about sth that's NATURE like, yes! In march/april there is an ANNUAL frost period called "Eisheiligen" and it's there since humans exist! But every year the Farmers are SO SHOKED and cry to the government about compensation (which they always get!) while NORMAL citizens just wait until AFTER the Eisheiligen to plant their own crops outside of a green house, like SANE people would do!

    The first clip is so anoying every time I see it!
    First they just glued their hands on the asphalt. But police could easily get the glue off with oil (sun flower oil. F.e.), so they thought, mixing glue with sand would be more difficult to remove! The result was this! I don´t even want to know how much this cost every time! Pepole getting late, CO2 at that place must be enorm from all this waiting cars. Fire fighter, police, rescue car, people to fix the street... all that is payed from our taxes for people who don´t work, just protest! And the worst is, there is no chance for rescue cars, getting through to drive to hospitals or to people who need them imediately!

      I would gladly pay people to protest for this. Its the most pressing issue since 20 years now and all we do is talk about it a tiny bit here or there.

      „For people who don‘t work, just protest“… I can‘t hear that anymore. Go ask them if they work! Most of them do (or study,…)
      But even if they wouldn’t: your „argument“ is pure whataboutism.
      I don‘t want to discuss the methods of protesting against climate change here. Any method has a lot of cons and pros. Although I don‘t necessarily agree with their method of choice, I respect them for doing something!

      There is no chance for rescue cars getting through all the cars that block the streets constantly even without any protesters you mean. (And the protests generally had a route for emergency vehicles. Why I nearly never saw a Rettungsgasse in all the cars standing there.)

    • @to_loww
      @to_loww Před 29 dny +2

      Not driving a car costs less.
      Also: They usually give advance notice to the ambulance service and fire brigade of where they are protesting. And the Rettungsgasse (rescue lane) is a thing.

      And the most important question!! Why don´t they protest in China, Russia or America where the most emission is??
      And there are evidence that most of the protester don´t work, but get payed by organisations, stopped studying!

      It is an act of peace keeping in Europe to have the Euro as a currency,
      either you are too stupid to understand the political reasons for a devaluation of the former D-Mark against shittier currencies from sparely populated parts in Europe, I don't know ... like Denmark maybe ....
