This radio is well made, and was built for the serious pocket radio enthusiast. I am enjoying this radio immensely!
The radio comes in at a cost of $64.99 shipped from Amazon and can also be purchased directly from their website.
Features I love about this radio:
    Bottom lit LCD Display.
    AM reception is amazing.
FM stereo sounds so nice with the provided headphones.
    Clock/Sleep/Alarm functions.
Optional 1Khz tuning on the AM band.
Switchable 4 KHz/2.5 KHz filters on the AM band.
Ability to turn display off on all bands.
Frequency or Clock can be displayed while radio is on.
Able to recall Clock with Alert button while radio is on.
Able to switch to 9-step tuning also giving you an expanded FM scale.
    Weather Band with Alert mode.
Five easy to use preset buttons with the ability of having 25 presets on AM, and another 25 on FM.
Bonus the WB can also be preset. This is actually very useful.
    Features I wish it had:
    More filter options for AM.
    Tone control for FM.
Color options, a Red or Yellow would be awesome for a weather radio! That's just me and a few other people :) White would look awesome.
Overall I am completely, and utterly impressed with the quality of this radio. The price is higher then most handheld portables, but this radio gives you many reasons why you would want one. It sits nicely next to the Skywave, which is now taking a back seat while I explore the AM band at night.
I hope you enjoyed this video!

Just ordered this bad boy today. I am the steward of 3 wildlife sanctuaries on the Northern Ca. coast. I go from 3 days to a few weeks without seeing another human, and radio is vital, especially NOAA. I have, or never will own a smart phone. RADIO IS KING IN MY WORLD. I had a C Crane Ep classic, but wanted something smaller. I am looking forward to listening to this unit in the forest. Use both bands a lot.. The speaker is loud enough for me. Although I have found that Mountain Lions don't care much for Metal music

I tried to buy this today on Amazon and I went there using your link so you would get something. They are out of stock today and the other sellers they referred me to are asking $96.00 for this radio. I found it at REI for $59.95 in stock here in Salt Lake City. I'm picking it up in an hour, it's bought and paid for.

I have had this radio for years and I use it every day. Love it! This video showed me a few hidden features I didn't understand, so thank you! I listen to it on very low all night (one ear bud) and can change channels and bands without opening my eyes. I recently recommended this to a blind lady who likes to listen to classical music. Speaker is okay, but with any comfortable earbuds (don't know where the originals went), the sound is amazing. Great reception in Orange County, CA.

Thanks for your review todderbert. My first CC Pocket was a Christmas gift to myself - 12-26-2012. By May of 2015, the power button stopped working (normal use around the house, not dropped). But I missed it. I have a couple of DT-400Ws - and they are both going strong (one is 6 years old, the other more than 10 years old). I love how it tail stands and side stands! Love the color and design (I see that the Skywave has a similar design, and I just ordered one!). Great interface. A perfect radio. On this fourth day of re-ownership and listening, five stars are well earned.

Great reception, can use memories in mixed-mode, some FM some AM. A little snag: the baseline noise is noticeable. No problem w/speaker, noticed on recording/phones. For my clear "in the woods" recording, I grab the Sangean DT-200X. Otherwise, the CC-Pocket is an excellent tag-along. It's worth a bit more for the good stuff. CCPocket picks up many AMDX stations.

It's like a HAM radio front end..very sensitive. At the other end you have some Sangeans, and the Sony ICF-P26: AM sounds almost hi-fidelity, great daytime sensitivity, but selectivity is a bit crowded at night. I like having both trade-offs now.

    • @radellaf
      @radellaf Před 4 měsíci

Love my CC Pocket, Great review. I have been looking into building a small amplified speaker box Kind of like a Bluetooth speaker except this would be Wired and plugged into the headphone jack for my smaller radios, using a amplified board it is 3watt x 3watt ampd board with two 2"x 2" full range speakers, Stereo! for external speaker, that I can plug in the headphone output. Maybe use a 36" long cord or maybe a longer cord since it is the antenna. To power the board Im looking at, is 3vdc to 12 vdc, a Samsung Galaxy smartphone transformer and cord would work. But it May be nice to use a 18650, I would think the power Voltage /volume is related to the voltage used with in the boards Input Voltage range.

The DT210 is the first Sangean I ever bought and while I like it, the operation of it is clumsy, if you ask me. I do like the DW 400, however. Do I need another pocket radio? Probably not, but this little gem sure intrigues me. The only drawback for me is the removable battery door. I like the hinged style better, so they don't accidentally get dropped. I'm looking for a decent FM portable radio but all the reviews on CZcams just seem to concentrate only on the AM bands. I am currently using Tecsun PL-310ET and Tecsun PL-606 but I find these radios have very poor selectivity next to strong stations unlike most Car Radios which have much more narrow reception just like the Sony XDR-F1HD. I am looking to replace my Tecsun with a portable radio with selectivity as narrow as a car radio/Sony XDR. Does anyone have any recommendations please?

I wanted to like mine. I really did. But the built in speaker is pretty bad for such a premium price. The lock button does NOT lock the volume wheel. The volume wheel is too easy to move. And mine came with an audible constant hiss unless you cranked up the volume. I bought a sangean dt-200x. And its worlds better in functionality. Even tho it feels cheaper, doesnt stand, and the clip is essentially worthless. Its still a better radio, and its cheaper.
I wanted to like it more than I did. 2 AA pocket radios that are good quality, without a telescopic antenna are extremely hard to find. There is really only 2 options for am/fm that run on 2 AA batteries and have your headphone jack function as your antenna. And the cc pocket, just doesnt cut it for me for the cost.

    • @HeartInLight
      @HeartInLight Před 3 měsíci

It might not be that way for everybody. But that was my experience with it. You cant really be a pocket radio if your volume wheel is easy to move, and has no lock on it. At least the sangean i bought is quite difficult to move and more recessed. So there is little chance of that happening.

    Hey there!
Just got this little radio (CC Pocket) late last night at REI. Has been on my bucket list of radios ever since I found your channel few years ago now.
I pulls in tons of stations FM and AM. However at Low to Mid volume is has a very noticeable hiss/ssshhhhh sound with even a very faint intermittent beep sound. My question to you "Todderbert" and community owners of this little radio is...
Is this normal? That Low to Mid volume consistent background sound.
I like to listen to Baseball and Talk News radio but of course also some Tunes and this sound is quite noticeable. Would love to hear near quiet background noise between voices and so on.
I tested with 5 other radios and two other Headphones. As well as had my wife do a blind test between 5 different radios with the CC Pocket in the mix and she said the same. Wich saddened me.
Most radios I would say, unless they are absolutely Perfect, have a ssshhhhh sound or buzz sound, some being better then others.
Would appreciate the feedback very much. Purchased at REI $59.99.
